"Evernote" is a very good text managing program (structure, organizing, etc.). I've been using it since 2013 and don't want to move anywhere yet. BUT! Since the company "Bending Spoons" bought "Evern... See more

Good note taking app
Clean UI and has most features that I want out of a notes app. However, the pricing model changes has been rough. I am on the legacy plan, so I've been overall insulated, but integrating AI into the application and increasing the subscription cost 4x+ and then limiting my existing usage has made me look for other alternatives. Altogether a fine app for users that don't have high expectations of their notes app, but there are better alternatives for detailed oriented users.

I have used Evernote for years for journaling. It has been very adaptable to my needs. The price quite a bit this year but still want to use the program.

I've been an Evernote subscriber since about 10 years ago. I witnessed this app getting better each version it iterates. For a planning maniac like me, Evernote is already part of my life. I use it to plan my day, my week, my month and my year. I use it to take down inspirations, but list down to-dos, and plan my children's calendar. It is just such a powerful and friendly tool. Especially the version control - I used to experience some glitches like "version conflict" when simultaneously editing. Now this problem is completely gone. Even if I was sometimes offline editing, it syncs so fast that I can't even notice when I am back online. Now I have 5317 notes on this app and the number is keep going up. My only worry is that if (god forbid) Evernote goes away one day, I would feel like my entire 10 years' memory will go with, which will most definitely devastate me. I will do everything to keep it alive. Seriously.
Too expensive
The price is too expensive, compared to the service (slow and unfriendly app while storage space is enough).
I'll move to competitors after exporting all data.
Perfect to keep life organized and keep track of tasks
Evernote has been my crucial everyday companion and assistant long before AI and LLMs became a regular thing. I spent years looking for an organizational app that would help me keep logs of everything I do for work and personal life, and nothing ever managed to hold my attention for longer than 5 minutes (as is the case with most new apps I download to try out). It's now been a solid 7 years of everyday use and it's helped me keep my life in order more than anything. The feature enhancements are also tremendously helpful, even for developers who want to add code snippets to their job logs.
Not the Evernote it used to be
Not the Evernote it used to be.
I liked it very much in the beginning specifically for GTD. Then was forced into a paid plan, which I accepted because I liked the software. But then it became slow, buggy and now the UX is really horrible. There are 3 search bars visible at the same time not clear which is for which , I have difficulties finding my notes and when I try to communicate with customers service I just get smartass-AI-"I feel what you are saying"-responses. Good bye Evernote after 10 years. You deserve that I leave.

Need an alternative to Evernote…
I'm sick of having to wait for Evernote to update almost every time I use it. I don't appreciate that the menus changed on my phone app and I can't find anything. Finally, I'm disgusted that you increased the price to the extent you did. I'll be finding another note-taking app before the next renewal.
Superior to OneNote, GoogleKeep & all other note apps
I've been using EverNote for many years.
Hands down best note app for:
* Attractive design/layout
* Features (too many)
* Useful Chrome browser extension (EverNote CLIPPER)

raising your prices to a disgusting level, with the partial justfication of random ai slop additions almost nobody wants. Will be cancelling before next renewal!
Too expensive
I have been experiencing constant issues with the Evernote desktop app on PC. The most frustrating one is that the app window sometimes opens off-screen. I use external monitors, and when I am using only my laptop screen, Evernote may still open as though the external monitor is connected. It is unbelievable that this has not been properly fixed, especially as this is the only app where I have experienced this behaviour. This has been happening for years.
Today, I also had another issue where the app opened with a black screen. The menu options at the top, such as File, Edit, and View, still worked, but the rest of the application was just a black screen. Restarting the app did not fix the problem, and it honestly gave me a scare that my notebooks could be corrupted, imagine that.
The third issue is the price. I am paying an eye-watering £154.90, mainly just to use additional notebooks and notes. I do not use the advanced features, such as AI, and I do not care for them. I already have more than enough AI functionality in other apps.
These issues were easier to tolerate when the price was lower. However, the cost is now almost three times what I would reasonably expect to pay for how I use the product. The only things keeping me with Evernote are the difficulty of migrating elsewhere and the OCR capability when scanning documents.
Overall, I am very disappointed. For the price Evernote now charges, the desktop app should be far more reliable.

Unsusable and annoying
If you have a disability like me (upper limbs and hands issues), be prepared to be annoyed at how incredibly difficult it can be to perform the simplest tasks, and then at the hurdles it puts you through just to stop receiving their spam and notifications.
App horribly slow, very restrictive free tier, and paid tier quite expensive for such little gains, so I won't be using anything from them ever again.
Closing the account was a nightmare, only got automated emails from them (after more than 24 hours), explaining how to do it, but their instructions were completely wrong, then when submitting the request it would say I was using incognito mode so they could not process it (not true). I had to involve Gemini and ChatGPT just to get this done.

Evernote is my brains for all of my daily records and calendar requirements. Simple and accessible.
Evernote is changing too fast
I have been using Evernote for many, many years and it has always been solid and reliable. I feel like changes to the user interface and behavior are happening way too quickly. I have had not data disappear on me accidentally for reasons I cannot explain. I have also had the wrong not show up when I clicked on a note from the main page/dashboard. It seems like what shows up is the last not I worked on. I am concerned that all of the AI influenced changes are turning Evernote into something else when, once upon a time, it was my favorite cloud oriented note taking tool. Maybe new features and changes should be opt-in or voted on rather then just forced onto the customer.
