Gym/pool has been neglected so much

It is a real shame, this place has great potential but it has been left to go to neglect, mainly because they think it will close in 2 years because of the science area coming to the Bee Hive, a short sighted view of what people need and want in Cambridge.
The changing rooms are so filthy, women's changing room has the ceiling falling through again, flies in the showers, black grime everywhere. If you don't wear flip-flops who knows what you would catch off the floor. It needs a jet wash and for cleaners to keep on top of it.
Staff are friendly and helpful.
Side of pool is Grimes, windows not cleaned, pool area. Sauna room has been shut for several years now.

0/5 – Everlast Chiswick Refurb is a Step Backwards

0/5 – Everlast Chiswick Refurb is a Step Backwards

The refurb has made Everlast Chiswick dark, gloomy, and unhygienic. Everything is black, lighting is poor, and all windows are blacked out.

The air con unit is excessively loud and can’t be lowered. In Pilates and yoga you can’t relax or hear the tutor’s instructions over the noise.

Pool access for working adults is now extremely limited due to constant kids’ lessons. Popular classes like evening aqua, Saturday aqua, and stretch have been removed with no replacements. Reformer Pilates is now behind a premium paywall.

Mirrors are fixed too high to be usable. Shower drains don’t work properly and are left dirty.

Overall: uninviting, poorly designed, and not worth the membership. If I could give 0 stars

Everlast Ewell disappointing refurbishment

Everlast Ewell refurbishment is appalling. The fitness machines: treadmills, arm, leg press etc are too close together to move safely around. Also, the free weights area is not fit for purpose; a serious health and safety accident waiting to happen. No proper stretch area, and, the yoga, Pilates studio is filled with hyrox equipment. Furthermore, the steam and sauna are both constantly out of order; the pool temperature too cold on many occasions; these areas were not ‘refurbished’. The increased cost of membership, £45 in most cases, is not reflected in the quality of the refurbished gym. Thus, after 14 years as a member I have had no option but to cancel and go elsewhere.

Friendly staff and good gym

Friendly staff and good gym. Wide range of equipment with plenty available. Cleaning equipment on racks and I even liked the music they were playing. I've been to the pool there before and that is nice and clean and at a good temperature. Clean and accessible changing area. Good availability of drinks. Discount on merch if you need that too.

At the Trafford Manchester branch

At the Trafford branch, reformer classes are extremely hard to book—I have to set reminders 2–3 weeks in advance. There’s also a particularly unpleasant instructor (Ava) who regularly starts classes a few minutes early and has turned people away despite them arriving on time, simply because introductions had already begun.
Also, to pre-book when you want to use the sauna is far from ideal.

Thieves!

Thieves. I've been going to this gym for over a year. Not the best gym but not the worst. Swimming pool stinks of sewers most of the time so avoid it.
Cancelled my membership with 1 month and 1 day notice. I did this over the phone, was told to wait until the last payment came out (a few days later) and that they'd call me back on that day. They never did. I called them myself a bit after to be told it was cancelled for me (even though I wasn't told). 1 month layer I WAS CHARGED. Unbelievable.
Called to complain and request a refund, had an email back to say that I cancelled with less than a month's notice.... guess what, I DIDN'T but they MADE me wait a few days so then it WAS less than a month. Absolutely disgusting! Still trying to get my refund but they're ignoring me now. Don't trust these thieves!

ISSUED WITH UNFAIR PARKING FINES WHILST DOING MY WORKOUT AT EVERLAST GYM

I am very disappointed with the Everlast Gym in Thurrock.
I have been a customer for quite a long time.
I arrive early in the morning about 5am to use the gym. I normally spend about 2 hours 15 minutes in the gym.

There have been no parking restrictions but recently I received multiple parking tickets from G24 parking company. They had recently installed cameras in the area where we are meant to park. I approached Everlast but they were totally dismissive.
I explained to them that since the parking restrictions are for a maximum of 2 hours they ought to have informed their customers that we could not use the gym for more than 2 hours at a go. I was parked in the car park for about 2 hours and 13 minutes.
I also explained that since I arrive at around 5am in the morning I did not notice the new signs as it was quite dark and the signs had only been installed there.
The staff just did not care about the welfare of their customer and said they could not do anything about it even though many other clients of them had also been caught in the same trap.
It is quite sad when organisations treat their clients with such contempt and disrespect.

Disappointing customer experience

My local Ewell location could be great, gym and changing room recently refurbished, a great pool, BUT unfortunately the cleaning and maintenance are both well bellow par.
Coupled with frequent pool, wet area closures, lack of visible management on the floor in the wet areas make for a disappointing overall fitness experience.
Considering cancelling my membership as I am tiring of a group of 6-8 men who create an unfortunate atmosphere most days… their attitudes, points of view and standards of behaviour unacceptable in 2026 and often quite offensive. They actually put me off using the wet areas when they are there.
A number 2-3 of the freelance PT’s are almost as bad, with a possessive use of equipment for “clients” and shouting constantly…
In summary the local mgt. I think need to pay more attention to cleaning, maintenance and the customer experience for the majority...
Disappointing for a Frasers Group business and and the Everlast heritage brand.

-Dark, gloomy ,COLD , small classes studio, constant waiting list
-Horrendous traffic around this gym/ Nottingham, West Bridgford/
-They put some bikes from the stone age -no monitor to see your speed, rpm etc.

Expect a bad experience - no interest in customers

I was a loyal member for over ten years when Everlast took over the Chiswick gym. No investment for months in facilities such as the tiles in the pool, broken jacuzzi and smelly steam room. When they eventually closed for refurbishment members lost access to classes for over two months. Nothing was communicated to members about plans, but it became clear the class offer would be practically nonexistent going forward. The refurb doesn’t make any use of the location and light, a complete waste. When I gave notice I was charged three months fees despite not using the gym since December and no classes available I would want to take. Appalling management and treatment of teachers and customers. Staff are friendly but the company is shocking.

Be very wary of several of thier staff…

Be very wary of several of thier staff members, curly haired female Sarah , Ola, Shariah, Keeley, Courtney, Harley and thier apparent blonde male manager and few gym goers are bunch of stalkers and wierdos, got thier names of the app before anyone thinks otherwise. Sarah, Ola, Shariah and Courtney also stalked and behaved like wierdos at a previous gym where I attended. The gym goers mentioned below have a tight relationship with the staffs, no doubt that they would all behave and act the same. They can deny as much as they want, they know what they did and who they really are.

When they see unexpected and unsual things happen to people like me, they burn with envy and the amount of lengths those mentioned above gone to get my attention is off putting. Instead of approaching, they know how to stalk instead which is very creepy. Seems as if they have been watching too much social media.

When they were confronted, they acted like victims, before all of this happened I asked them to terminate my contract and willing to pay the remaining months, the liars tied me in with made up excuses.

Be wary of wannabe gangsters who have intentions to provoke and aggravate and when confronted they backed off like little boys.

Be wary of a small short blonde who attended same time as me in the morning at 7am, stalked me for over 7 months trying to get my attention, pathetic to see how she couldn't get the hint that I'm not interested in a woman her type yet they still bother me for attention.

Be wary of another blonde female who has a boyfriend but still behaved in a desperate way numerous times. It is also strange and creepy to see how some men and women behave when they don't get the attention, it is sickening.

Respect people's boundaries, privacy and space, don't feel entitled to anything like those mentioned above and don't be a coward. People like those mentioned make me laugh as I've dealt with wierdos before.

This also applies to few staff members and that wierd female blonde gym manager and few gym goers they have at puregym across the road, you can never benefit or feed off me if I don't know you on a personal level.

Please don’t go here- this gym is…

Please don’t go here- this gym is horrific. Constantly packed and equipment is hardly up to any standard. I’ve been at Queen’s Park gym for 5 years and going from that to here was like going from a 5 star hotel to a youth shelter. And Queen’s Park isn’t even that nice. When I was signing up, I told them I only wanted to pay for one month and that’s it because I want to see how it goes and they said I could do that. Now I’m not allowed to cancel until I’ve paid for next month?? Money sucking vampires. Don’t even use the money for the gym evidently as all the equipment is worn and inefficient. Don’t waste your time on this place 🙏

Okay but much of the equipment is out of order

The gym I was a member at was okay, the staff and the gym members were friendly, but…
The price of membership kept going up year on year, even though the equipment was always out of order.
I left at the end of February after 3years as a member.

Poor customer experience

The issue that I have experienced was: My wife and I both joined
Everlast St Helens on a one‑year contract, with all payments coming
from my account. When our contracts ended in May 2025, we decided to
cancel my wife’s membership because she rarely used the gym. That
should have been a simple request but, it turned into nearly a year of
frustration.
Despite multiple follow‑ups, her direct debit continued to be taken
until November 2025, six months after the contract ended. When I
raised this with Jack, he assured me a refund would be issued. That
refund never arrived. The lack of honesty and accountability left us
deeply disappointed.
Because of this experience, I decided to cancel my own membership as
well. I initiated the process in October 2025, yet my direct debit
continued for another four months. It only stopped when I personally
deleted the mandate from my banking app in February 2026, something I
should never have had to do.
During this period, I sent countless emails and made several phone
calls. Each time, I was promised a refund but nothing ever happened.
The complete lack of responsiveness made us feel ignored and
disrespected as paying members.
And just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse, on 20th March
2026, my wife received a call from the gym demanding payment for a
“missed” instalments, despite her membership having ended almost a
year earlier and despite the gym already taking payments long after
her contract expired.
This entire experience has been exhausting, stressful, and deeply
disappointing. No customer should be treated this way, especially
after trying countless times to resolve issues politely and through
the proper channels.

Get F'd, Stay F'd

Update on previous review...
I had been meaning to upgrade the score recently but today just confirmed that the staff at Birstall have zero customer loyalty.
Having trained with my friends, in a group of 3, for over 5 years on the same day and time 3 days a week, theyve decided to rent the only space, that we can use, out to someone else for £25.
We each pay membership and have done for years. No consultation. Nothing. Told we can only share the space if we pay half towards it.
Well... suffice to say, on top of all the previous problems I highlighted in a previous review, this was the final straw.
Cancelled my membership and wont be paying anything they think I owe because, as far as im concerned, theyve breached their contract with me.

So in the words of one of my favourite content creators...
GFSF.

I was a long standing member of Roko in…

I was a long standing member of Roko in Chiswick - Everlast took over the gym last year 2025 and then in January 2026 closed the gym for refurbishment. They have changed what the gym has to offer. It is now a 'lifters' gym with Hyrox and Reformer pilates you have to pay extra for. The yoga, pilates and many studio based 'well-being' classes that Roko had in abundance is now gone. There are very very few classes now that are in this genre because there is only one studio out of three left to accommodate spin classes, and other floor based studio classes. We are being told to lump it - you can do HITT instead - in the new black floored, black ceiling, black walled windowless studio with LED lights. We are being told that everything has changed for the better which is not true if you are a middle aged woman who likes exercise classes - we are just not catered for anymore - you can't get onto the 1 or 2 classes a week now offered, as supply no longer meets demand. When the gym reopened and I went in to take a look and could instantly see with my own eyes and also from the new timetable that this was not a gym i would ever be a member of I told Everlast to cancel my membership. To add insult to injury they have charged me a membership fee of a month (saying they are being nice and not charging me 3 months) in order to leave a gym I never joined in the first place. I would strongly recommend you stay a million miles away from Everlast Chiswick. If you don't like it you can lump it and they will charge you for the privilege. Everlast Chiswick is a blacked-out, Hyrox, weights gym - if you're a 'lifter' you will like the changes possibly but there are now higher membership fees. For the rest of us women and men who like 'wellness' classes, easy circuits, a light and bright space, nice cafe, you need to find a new Gym Home.
