⭐☆☆☆☆ – Absolute Nightmare Experience with Enercare

Enercare has been an absolute nightmare to deal with. I have been without reliable hot water for weeks, and despite calling multiple times, the problem has never been properly resolved.

Technicians came to my home several times, and each visit ended the same way: the hot water would work for only a few hours, then stop again. Instead of identifying and fixing the root cause, they kept applying temporary fixes that clearly didn’t solve anything.

The most frustrating part is the lack of urgency and customer care. My family, especially my kids who play sports every day, need hot water to shower, yet this didn’t seem to matter. Being left without hot water over and over again is completely unacceptable.

After repeated service calls, I was still left with the same issue, wasting my time by staying home for appointments that accomplished nothing. I expected better service from a company that advertises reliability.

If you’re considering Enercare, think twice. Based on my experience, they don’t seem to care about resolving customer problems, only about closing service calls. This has been one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had.

Three times I scheduled appointments…

Three times I scheduled appointments and waited for four separate times and no service person came. On the first occasion when I phoned to inquire what happened they said the appointment had been canceled, but no one had contacted me or attempted to contact me to advise BY.

On the second occasion, I was contacted during the four hour window by a representative who said that the office is scheduled the wrong person and that he was an electrician and was unable to deal with the situation I requested, which is arranging an application so Gas could be brought from the street so I could install a gas water heater and possibly a furnace.

On the third occasion, I was once again contacted by a service representative that says that he was not qualified to do what was requested that is ascertain getting gas from the street to put a meteor in so that they could install gas water heater.

On all three of the occasions, I spent lengthy time on the phone and made it crystal clear would need to be done and I was assured by both representatives and also by the escalation department that everything would be sorted out and that on the last occasion, they would do what they were originally asked to do. While I was on hold, I received a phone call from a representative who indicated in a telephone message that they did not do the work that I had requested.

I was trying to assist an 82 year-old owner get gas service to her house and I was unable to do so and was never advised that they did not offer that service.

I would not recommend this company to anyone taking into account the exceptionally bad experience I had by people that do not know what they are talking about when I call to try to sort the matter out

I cancelled our service with Enercare…

I cancelled our service with Enercare prior to the annual subscription being due,as my house was going to be demolished soon. Sure enough, shortly after they sent an email verifying the cancellation. However, it has been three months since my cancellation, and they are still calling, sending the invoice, and overall, harassing me for payment. please note that they are acknowledging that I have already cancelled, but they still want to get paid for the service they will not be providing.
I do not know what to say about that. There are no words for me to describe such action by a corporation after my subscription for twenty plus years.

Amsal was very pleasant

Amsal was very pleasant. He explained what he was going to do, recommended the frequency of changing our filters, checked the furnace and air conditioning units and washed the air conditioning. He also offered to check something that was connected to our old unit. He called before he arrived. All around very good service.

I scheduled an appointment couple days…

I scheduled an appointment couple days ago, I requested an 8am-12pm appointment time slot.

Fast forward to appointment day, I call customer service at 11:30AM, just to make sure everything is ok. They inform me that the appointment was booked for 12PM to 4PM, I took a full morning off work to meet with inspector. I wait until 3 and find out that they had the wrong address on my file and they just went to that address and sent me an email saying I wasn’t home. I dont know where that wrong address came from but i have always verified my account with my existing address, and i spoke to at least 8 different technicians, not one saw that there was an incorrect servicing address. I was told id get a call back from a supervisor, and that they will have to reschedule my appointment until next day. They offered a credit which was nice, BUT removed that credit once they found out im not a current enercare customer…. This definitely pushed me as far away as possible from this horrible company.

Mistake after mistake, it was my fault for being so patient with them.

I’m still waiting for a call from the supervisor, they said it would be 20 min, it’s been 2 hours.

They are way more expensive than other local companies, do not sign with enercare.

Enercare doesn't care about the customer

Had enercare, install a new furnace and AC come to find out later on the sales rep Gavin lied our furnace did not have to be replaced. Only the AC had to be replaced when the tech came to install the new furnace and AC. I wanted to keep the old one to put out in my garage. Gavin failed to report this to them and they caused damage to my old furnace that still worked today 41 days later they have not picked up their equipment and they are charging us for the equipment we have all our required documentation to prove we've reached out cancelled within the 10 day cooling off. Which is legal and binding, and Gavin is a very poor salesman. Cannot respond back to any clients called enercare to report that we've cancelled the contract we want the equipment gone because it is now holding up our renovation work they say they've escalated it to a manager and even a manager can't seem to reach Gavin so therefore the equipment 41 days later we also told Gavin we are charging $50 a day storage fee because this is now impeding our renovation work on our brand new home that we bought and it doesn't seem like enercare gives two hoots escalated it not one Manager has called us back yet. This equipment is still sitting in our basement and outside and we cannot apparently remove it and get rid of it so that we can do our renovation work inside. Highly recommend do not go with enercare for anything refuse this company and go with better companies that are out there. Their price was double of what we're paying now for a new furnace and AC unit.

Shameful Service

On two separate occasions (May 20, 2026 and July 23, 2026), Enercare scheduled confirmed service appointments, and on both occasions no technician arrived and no one contacted me to advise of a delay or cancellation. In both cases, I rearranged my work schedule and remained available for the entire appointment window. Despite escalating the first incident directly to the CEO, the same failure occurred again. This is not an isolated incident but a recurring breakdown in customer service and appointment management.

POOR SERVICE

I purchased a plan as they requested and try to sell you on, after waiting the 10 days and needed to use the plan we'll after the wait period. They did not provide the services and also did not provide any resolutions despite the issue and fault being on behalf of enercares agent.

They promised call back and missed those time lines did not care for any customer service resolve.

We have been stranded in the heat, Enercare is poorly managed and operated.

I am extremely disappointed with Enercare customer service

I am extremely disappointed with Enercare's customer service.

After Enercare recommended replacing my old tankless water heater, they installed a brand-new rental unit. Within weeks, it stopped working, leaving my family without hot water for **five days**. During that time, I received no meaningful updates, no repair timeline, and was repeatedly told to wait for a backordered part.

To make matters worse, one of Enercare's managers actually suggested that I take **cold showers** while waiting for the repair. I found this response completely unacceptable and insensitive. Customers pay for a rental service so they have reliable hot water—not to be told to live without it.

In the end, the problem was resolved by simply resetting the Enbridge gas meter—a step that apparently could have been identified much earlier. Five days of inconvenience, stress, and uncertainty could likely have been avoided.

When customers rent equipment from Enercare, they expect prompt diagnosis, effective troubleshooting, and reliable service. Instead, I experienced poor communication, unnecessary delays, and a complete lack of urgency for an essential household service.

This experience has completely eroded my confidence in Enercare. Based on what I experienced, I cannot recommend their rental or service.

After this experience, I have only one suggestion: perhaps Enercare should consider changing its name to **"No One Care"**—because that's exactly how I felt throughout this ordeal.

Literally the worst company I have…

Literally the worst company I have every interacted with in modern history. I moved into a new house recently and they used lies, deceit and shady tactics to try and keep billing me for the water heater despite it being bought out by the previous owner with evidence of that happening. If anyone decides to file a class action lawsuit against them please contact me. They should be deleted from ever doing business again.

Avoid Enercare at all costs!!!

Avoid Enercare at all costs.

They're overcharging every month for the furnace and then to get out of the contract on a lifetime guarantee they will charge you more than the price of a new furnace for example up to 4,000 to $8,000, it's cheaper to buy your own furnace or your own water heater, do not sign a contract with these people, they haven't shown up for a maintenance and repair I know hot water for 4 days and no heat for 7 days.

Their customer service is in Bogota colombia, avoid these people at all costs because they are not probably Canadian they have outsourced it to Colombia , where their English is very poor and they don't really understand Canada, I don't even think they use furnace is there. They put on their ads proudly Canadian but yet they don't put on their that day outsource it to Colombia paying them $700 a month to answer the phone

I have found Enercare to be the most…

I have found Enercare to be the most unethical company I have ever dealt with.
I have tried to cancel my account for over a year and have been given incorrect information ( was sent the incorrect contract details) and there was a total lack of integrity with respect to the information and the customer service.
I will NEVER allow Enercare or any of its agents to get anywhere close to anything I own.
Worst company ever

I had a very disappointing experience…

I had a very disappointing experience with Enercare. It’s been nearly three weeks without hot water while waiting for my hot water tank to be replaced. Throughout this time, I’ve received little more than excuses and the runaround instead of clear communication or a timely resolution.

Going without hot water for this long is unacceptable, and I expected much better customer service and urgency in addressing the issue. Unfortunately, my experience has been frustrating from start to finish. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Enercare.

The old Gas Meter had to be updated

The old Gas Meter had to be updated, which happened in June. The old unit was mounted into the wall. After the new unit was installed, a gapping hole in the wall was left. I've just been told that I am responsible to repair the wall, not Enercare! Why should I have to do this? And when the dug up part of my concrete patio, they used asphalt to repair it!!! Very, very angry!

Made a booking for an estimate on a new boiler purchase consultant 30 minutes late I tried to contact did not respond to text. I cancelled the appointment after 45 minutes of being late was told by customer service representative that I was to be flexible and allow for up to 45 minutes of lateness. I refuse to make such a big purchase with a company who does not respect my time as valuable.

This company maintained an invalid lien on our home

in 2017, we entered into a rental agreement with Enercare for an A/C unit. At the time, I was assured that I could buy out the unit at any time for the depreciated cost. The initial installation was professional, and the experience seemed positive. By 2019, we exercised that option and purchased the unit—again, a simple and professional transaction.

However, fast forward to 2026, during the sale of our home. Just one week before closing, our lawyer informed us of an undisclosed lien on our property for that same HVAC equipment, threatening the entire sale. When we attempted to resolve this, we were told that Enercare would not communicate with our legal counsel. Upon contacting their customer support, they admitted that a representative 'missed a step' in 2019 and failed to remove the lien from our title.

For seven years, this company maintained an invalid lien on our home without ever bothering to follow up or rectify their error. Furthermore, even after the Ontario government passed legislation in 2024 banning these types of liens, Enercare failed to proactively remove it. Their administrative negligence has severely compromised the sale of our home, and their lack of cooperation has been unacceptable. I strongly advise others to be extremely cautious when dealing with this company

I had an appointment with Barry on July 13th, 2026 in the morning, this person not only fixed my problem but also fixed another issue that the men who had installed the new furnace in December 2025, forgot to do. I would definitely recommend him, and he is definitely an asset to Enercare. Thanks again Barry for your excellent service.
