As wedding photographers
As wedding photographers, we have had the pleasure of capturing countless special moments at Durham Castle, and we must say, it is an absolutely stunning venue that is truly fit for royalty. With its rich history dating back to 1284, the Great Hall is a magnificent space for hosting wedding breakfasts for up to 200 guests. The smaller Bishop's Dining Room is perfect for more intimate occasions and is capable of accommodating up to 40 guests.
What sets Durham Castle apart from other venues is the exceptional level of service provided by the staff. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a warm welcome and their dedication to making the wedding day dreams come true was evident throughout the entire day. The experienced Master of Ceremonies was always on hand to guide the couple, and their expertise and attention to detail ensured a seamless and enjoyable experience.
The Castle is fully licensed for Civil Ceremonies and can accommodate up to 120 guests. The Tunstall Gallery or Courtyard are available for the drinks reception, and the Fellows Garden provides the perfect backdrop for stunning photographs. With two Suites and a total of 76 bedrooms, the Castle is the perfect place for couples and their guests to stay and enjoy their special day.
Included in the wedding package are the use of the Tunstall Gallery or Courtyard, Fellows Garden, a courtesy room for changing and storing gifts, and the services of an experienced Master of Ceremonies. The staff also provides advice on the choice of menus and wines, and they even provide menus and place cards.
In conclusion, we cannot recommend Durham Castle enough as a wedding venue. The historical significance, stunning surroundings, and exceptional level of service make it a truly unforgettable experience.
