APPALLING - NOT TO BE TRUSTED; NOT FOR REAL
APPALLING - This 'company' is not for real. They have borrowed the name (DR Tree) and even the logo from a legit tree surgery company in the North. The real DR Tree knew nothing about this other company. They are now contacting their solicitors, after I called them trying to trace Callum who, it seems, is the boss of the outfit I have been unlucky enough to have had dealings with.
Why was I so keen to contact Callum? Long story short, he and his sidekick ('sub-contractor') Alex scammed my dying 97 year old mother-in-law in much the same way they scammed Rizwan. Quoted £75 to remove a double bed so a hospital bed could be installed in her flat; upped the price to £90 as it 'wasn't the type of bed they thought'; said they'd send a van with two men; one (Alex) arrived in a 7-seater, not a van, (sounds familiar?), so we helped him out of the flat with the bed. Then Alex demanded £156 in cash as the quote (confirmed previously by me 3 times) 'didn't include labour or VAT'.
Callum of course was not answering his phone at the time ('in a 7 hour meeting'!). I paid Alex the money, as my mother-in-law was getting distressed and continued throughout the day to try to get hold of Callum. He failed to block my 7am call the next day and, after a string of pathetic excuses, agreed to pay back the £66 he and Alex had effectively stolen from my mother-in-law by 5pm on Thursday 16th August. I waited.. and waited. Still waiting four days later.
Don't know about you, Rizwan, but my next stop is Trading Standards, plus or minus the police. How many more vulnerable people are about to get taken? I wonder if the 7-seater gets around commercial charges for using recycling centres? And I wonder if HMRC would be interested too? Can't find his VAT registration, and I reckon his and Alex's tax returns might make interesting reading if they deal only in cash. The real DR Tree is already on the case. So am I now.
