Had a fabby break to Garve Hotel with my mum & 2 sisters. Alan Gordon (Pieman) coach driver was lovely. Couldnt do enough for you and very funny. Great service at the Hotel, food was AmaZzing, laughed from start to finish. The other travellers so friendly had such a great time with them all. Would recommend this . xXx
Absolutely disgusted with this company
Absolutely disgusted with this company. We booked months ago for a tour to Scarborough and Whitby for the end of October. This tour was removed from sale in the beginning of July so we thought then it must be fully booked. Got a massive shock at the beginning of September when they phoned to say they had to cancel due to lack of numbers. Obviously with it being removed from sale nobody was given the chance to book. They kept our money for 2 months longer than was needed also depriving us of the chance to rebook a holiday with another company. They won’t tell me why they removed the holiday from sale without telling us it had been cancelled, possibly hoping for us to cancel so they could keep our money. Speaking to people at work this is not an isolated incident, this happens all the time with north east departures. We are not people who can go away anytime we have to plan holidays together which is also very annoying when this happens. Think twice before booking with these as they are not bothered at all about customer service.
A company who really doesn't care abou it's customers
I had a read or Urquhart travel company description on the Caledonian holidays web site and had to laugh
This Company really doesn't care about its customers given that a lot of their customers are elderly there is so much more they could be doing
On their advertising pages they need to have an accessibility guide for disabled people say from 1to 3
1being accessible with little help 2 accessible with a lot of help 3 not accessible at all (Chequers plaza Blackpool)
and a similar guide for the location of the hotel (Glenmorag ) situated on top of a hill not practical for any one with even the slightest mobility issues to walk up or down to the town
Similarly a local amenities guide (how close are shops/bars)( Garve hotel ) nearest shop is 10 miles away
This is not a critism of the hotels We found them all ok but it broke my heart watching people struggling with steep stairs or being stranded in the hotel as it's located on a large hill
Then there's the rest stops at expensive retail parks for example loch Lomond and Geetha village where you won't get much change of £10 for 2coffees A lot of people can't afford this so why stop here??? Marks&Spencer subway ect. Mulit nationals
Why not park up in a wee village support the local economy by buying coffees/cakes in a wee cafe????
I have travelled with this company many times but recently I had the misfortune of being allocated the Georgian Hollie's in Blackpool A dirty hotel ,arrogant owner ,distinct lack of customer service poor food evening meals clearly all cooked from frozen and not temp check ed before serving no water on table's as you would expect else Where
Breakfast offering exceptionally poor compared to other hotels we have stayed in
I did complain when we got back but Urquhart travel clearly gave out the message that they weren't interested
I actually doubt they have a customer services department
So potential Urquhart travel customers ask all the questions you can before you go and if you arrive and have a problem get straight on the phone to Urquhart travel then you might actually get some thing done
As I said we have travelled many times with Urquhart s have had good breaks but the company needs to reinvent it's self and put customers at the heart of all they do
Go and inspect their hotels address the problems and I really think most customers wouldn't mind paying a wee bit more if the improvement s were made bye for now Christine
shocked!
Stayed at Georgian Hollies Hotel for a July weekend with a friend. Hotel nice, food good, entertainment good, or should I say too good! We were not best pleased with the male who exposed himself at the window facing ours, a coward of course who didn't show his face although his face might have been an improvement ha ha. Hotel manager wasn't too bothered when we reported it.
David Urquhart Scarisbrick Hotel
Prior to my trip to Southport I was informed that the hotel was being changed.
I went on to see reviews of the new hotel and I was worried as it was next to a nightclub and the reviews relating to food and hygiene along with the noise were far from good.
I informed David Urquhart that I was concerned after seeing the reviews to which they said they only go by customer reviews and not that of third party site reviews.
However when I arrived all my worst fears were realised and everything I was concerned about I was right to be. Along with a majority of the coach.
On return I wrote to David Urquhart and the response was a general fob off.
All I can say is if you are concerned prior to your trip then you will be probably right.
I would never recommend the company or go with them ever again and definitely not the Scarisbrick Hotel.
worst holiday of a life time
we booked for the Garve hotel 7 days highland and Skye holiday, what a farce, four days on the road ,2 excursions and a free day, what a waste of
600 pounds ,absolute total shambles, i booked because the itinerary said overnight stop in Leeds going and over night stop in Liverpool coming back home so i phoned my son who lives in Liverpool that we could meet up, brilliant ?
picked up in Worthing at 9am driver (Steve ) gave us the rundown on his health and safety regime ,he is not allowed to help any of the passengers on or off the coach in case they get injured, also the toilet on the coach has a broken seat so only use it in extreme emergencies, he said he had a dvd he would play for us with regards to health and safety but when he put it in the machine lo and behold it did not work but he did have a first aid kit above his seat ,and by the way we will not be stopping at Leeds or Liverpool instead it will be Manchester going up and coming back
the Garve hotel not 3 nights entertainment but 2 ,very enjoyable the food was to say the least diabolical ,i didn't dare try the coffee as i dare say it would be that disgusting dry freeze stuff we had in the room, the waitresses were all very polite and helpful so thanks to them, the room was clean but the toilet was a joke it was a pink toilet bowl with a white cover and a white cistern cover which was 2 or 3 sizes to big we could not find the flush handle, and you had to go outside to get a wifi signal, and this is 2018 ?
Excursions and the driver, (Sky) well down the road ,over the bridge,2 hours then back again no photo stops he told us we will pass a lot of lochs ,i don't know there names but if you look through the tree's you can see them ,(Inverness) well a couple of hours or more to get to loch ness one lady asked if we could go to the lochs edge to be told we can't get down there but if you want to see it you can pay six puonds plus to go to the loch ness centre and see it there failing that you will see it through the tree,s , a couple of hours in tInverness then back to the hotell with one photo stop the odd thing is on both excursions it took two and a half hours to go from Inverness to garve , yet on the way home on the last day it took him 25 minutes to get from Garve to inverness ,at know time did we get back to Garve with enough time to shave and change for tea we allways got there 30mins / 45 mins before which leads me to believe that his instructions are get them back as late as possible.
the driver was called steve ,he cared more about health and safety than he did his clientele on the rest day some of us were sat in the grass area ,six people were sat at a table three one side and three at the other side, unfortunately one side all got up at the same time the consequence was the table overturned and the three people fell on there backs and bottles and glasses of drink all fell on top of them the only people to assist them were five or six elderly people all with infirmities ,now the driver who i may add is the only driver i know to carry his own deck chair just sat there not two yards away and watched while he sunbathed ,with regards to holiday information on any of the trips he admittedly said he had no idea about anything...my honest opinion is if you must book with this company again you must have a death wish, please D urquhart waken up and read the comments
NEVER AGAIN
NEVER AGAIN! Luxury travel? No such thing. Nothing more than a school bus to take us to the Scottish Highlands. Thirteen hours in total discomfort, my back will never be the same.
Two tours condensed into one, multiple pick ups for hours, an austere driver and a tired hotel at the end of it. Very very disappointing.
what a dissapointing trip
what a dissapointing trip. 4 days out of 7 on motorways . two stops by castles only allowed 15 minutes at each. hotel garve .more like hotel transylvania .food was good but in the middle of nowhere. full of stuffed birds and animals .lift,tv,games room didnt work. The driver was a good safe driver,Lee,unfortunately he diidnt like to talk about scottish culture or liked stoppimg at any cultural sites.Visit to Isle of Skye was biggest dissapointment . only 90 minute stop.would never recommend this company .Wish i had read reviews before booking. My father booked a holiday with this…
My father booked a holiday with this company.
He was then diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Hoped we could cancel the booking for a refund due to the exceptional circumstances.
This was point blankly refused. Not even a partial refund.
Very disappointed they couldn't show the compassion for dying man.
Booked for the tattoo in Edinburgh…
Booked for the tattoo in Edinburgh this August, was told every thing is fine, just be for ending the call, I was told it would have to be cancelled , due to hotel having no tattoo tickets left. This was on Mon 4 June 2018, was told I would be refunded the next day, next day no money in bank, phoned up to see what was up, was told it could take till Friday to be in my bank. Friday no money returned to my bank fine a gain, would take till Monday. Guess what it's Monday the 11.6 18. No money in bank again. Phoned up and was told that the money was only tranferred on Friday. This show this company is corrupt and keeps your money till the very last moment so it can make some interest out of your money. Ps the said they would take the holiday down of line, but it's still on, how many others poor sods are getting stung by them. I am taking the print off and all the dealings to my bank, to see if that can sort this out.
Company advertised The Prince of Wales…
Company advertised The Prince of Wales hotel in Southport and changed at the last minute,we were stuck in a tired dirty and noisy hotel where the homeless hung about at night, the hotel was very tired with endless faults,no one on the trip was happy and many had complained but Urguharts staff did not seem to be interested. The food was abismall and it was self service for breakfast and dinner, the dining room was often crowded and no clean tables to sit at,the hotel had wooden strikers to use when making tea and jam and marmalade were decanted into bowls,I felt unsafe when going in and out hotel after 8 p m,
You don't expect the Ritz when you not paying a great deal but this trip was the pits

Hotel arrival mopping up water with my own clothes
David Urquhart Travel, 127 Strathmore House, East Kilbride G74 1LF
Blackpool; Tour: 174108. Britannia Grand Metropole Hotel - 21 September 2015.
On arrival hotel I was mopping up water with my own clothes; ever since David Urquhart dont want to know. I got soaked fully clothed on arrival in my room from a faulty Jacuzzi without one room towel?
Along with eight people waiting Victoria coach station hours all naturally expecting their David Urquhart coach to ‘arrive’. NO noticeboard info whatsoever from this company! WHY NOT?
They had not contacted anyone waiting. All extremely disappointed, annoyed we had expected coach to be waiting for us! I got two to phone them to see if tour had been cancelled?
Victoria coach station 7am Coach first pickup 8am. Coach turned up 9.23am. I’d waited two and half hours not in the best or most welcome of locations.
Talking to driver seemed more like he’d just got the job, or not been booked early enough. David Urquhart attitude expects people to put up with it Without Any information?
Metropole Hotel: Door didn’t open three floors up with me climbing down stairs again (I’m in my seventies) all lifts full with arrivals.
I queued for second time reception (one person) who gave me another room ‘with Jacuzzi’. But, turned out this had some repair but (obviously) had not been checked.
I still hadn’t unpacked with twice going up and down three flights of stairs and needing a bath after early start and journey I pressed button Jacuzzi to get pressure. The water jetted straight up to ceiling hitting down on me, down the walls and kept coming which I'd never experienced before with travelling the whole world. Not just once but twice, Jacuzzi button hadn’t worked to stop flow.
No telephone in the room to also finding out NOT one towel had been left.
I was drowned standing in my clothes! I envisaged the ceiling below coming down; pulling out clothes from my case and having to use my own clothes to mop up the abundant water from the soaking floor. Without any towel with me or having any (at all) left in the bathroom…
Entailing ‘me’ in mopping up the place; I take exception to this. I was left with the mess to clear up plus I had injured and experienced the sheer shock of it. For the third time I had to go up and down three floors along with queuing at reception (again) this time with soaked clothes and hair which wasn’t much fun for me.
David Urquhart only reply refers to ‘not knowing how to use a Jacuzzi’ Excuse me, but I have used too many ‘Jacuzzi’s’ including hotels; swimming pools. Etc. To turn on - ‘Press down the one button’. To turn off, ‘Press down the one button’. With NEVER any one ‘incident’ in my whole life.
This Britannia Grand Metropole Hotel Jacuzzi I was told was and had been “faulty”. Of cause I had spoken to the Manager. He’d confirmed that the Jacuzzi “had been repaired but needed checking”.
My time spent trying to get recompense for incident. This occurrence has entailed me wasting far too much time in writing to David Urquhart of my shock, stress, duress occurring (twice) and that only then my quick actions stopped further flooding while the jetted downpour kept coming. But they never want to know? I’m heartedly tired of them. Their two replies are insulting to ones intellect.
Full facts of any situation are necessary and all should be taken into consideration. David Urquhart standards are seriously damaged as not fit for purpose least of all for its customers.
Arrival Metropole hotel Blackpool first room key card had not been set; second room again three floors up and down and then up and down for the third time. Lifts full and queueing up three times...
To experience using my own clothes to clean and clear up! Towels should have been left in room, I alone was left to injure and take the sheer shock of it. I’m since utterly ignored by them?
David Urquhart don’t have representative on sight and why any hotel manager answers sorting out customers problems to do with their Hotel being there at the time.
This occurrence has entailed me in further time wasted and in my stress and duress in pursuing David Urquhart travel. If companies don’t settle Complaints honestly and swiftly their own image is seen to be damaged
