No complaint procedure

If you have a complaint about the customer advisor then Costco's complaint procedure means you have to complain to the person whos the complain is against. The manager sides with their colleague.

You truly know about a company when you have a problem and how they deal with it.

I had a very disappointing experience with Costco customer service.

I contacted them regarding an issue with items received close to their expiry date, but the situation quickly escalated due to the way the advisor handled the call. The advisor (Jaanvi) was dismissive, unhelpful, and at times came across as rude. Instead of assisting, the tone of the conversation made us feel as though we were being treated with suspicion rather than as genuine customers.

There was also confusion around address verification, despite us clearly confirming that both billing and shipping details matched (and being able to evidence this). Rather than offering alternative ways to resolve the issue, the advisor repeatedly dismissed what we were saying.

When we tried to clarify the order number, the advisor refused to engage further without speaking to the account holder, even though no verification had been completed at that stage. This was not clearly explained and added unnecessary frustration.

More concerning was the refusal to log a formal complaint. We were told that the complaint would not be raised, and when we asked to escalate to a manager, this was also denied. I also raised a separate issue about expiry dates, which was dismissed as a “different complaint” and not recorded. The call was then terminated.

The biggest issue here is the lack of a proper complaints process. There is no clear email address or independent route to raise concerns, meaning customers are effectively required to complain to the same channel they are complaining about. That is not a transparent or fair system.

Overall, this experience fell well below the standard expected from a company of this size. I hope Costco reviews both the conduct of this interaction and the structure of its complaints procedure moving forward.

Bought $101 dollars of gas today

Bought $101 dollars of gas today, filled my truck and 4 cans.
I wasn’t aware that you aren’t allowed to fill them in the bed of the truck.
I was almost done when Joe came over and harassed me I ask him to leave me alone, he then threatened me with being barred from the store.
Joe then proceeded to print a copy of my receipt, I demanded it back.
He was lecturing me on gas pumping safety while walking around with an electric blower.

While in the process of leaving

While in the process of leaving, with receipts in hand, we handed our receipts to the checker at the door. A bald man named Charlie was on a power trip and held us in the building for well over 20 minutes, not allowing us to leave. Despite verifying one of our two carts and checking off everything from the receipt, and telling us that cart was good to go, he then told us to bring the already verified cart back or else we couldn’t leave. All of these items were purchased in front of his supervisor and fully paid for and verified. This man was sitting there yelling at me about the situation while we had already paid. This was insanely unprofessional, and even after the manager came over and fixed the situation, he reverified everything and still tried to hold us there to lecture us on his rules for the door and leaving. This was the most unprofessional, judgmental, and biased experience I’ve ever dealt with.

I have been on the phone with warranty and appliance
I have been on the phone for 35 minutes and I still have no resolution yet. I am currently on hold for a least 10 Minutes and still nothing. I really think that if this oven does not have a recall, I am just going to bring it back for a refund.

Being treated like a criminal at Beltsville Costco!

Hope is the supervisor’s name who yelled and shouted at me and took a picture of my membership number and threatened me she was going to block me coming to Costco! The location is at Beltsville, MD. I called a manager, Ms Sanatra, and she listened the whole story and apologized for Hope’s inhuman behavior! The thing is I purchased multiple times and returned because the customer service staff asked me to do so. It turned out the customer service staff had to call a manager to resolve the issue but instead they asked a customer to buy the same product over and over again for the price difference in the sale item. It’s nightmare shopping at Beltsville Costco! The customer service staff are horrible and the staff on the floor and cashier treat the customers like criminals! Never want to visit there again!

Be-aware Costco electronics buyers!

Be-aware! Costco has only 90 days return policy on any electronic goods, specially, computers. So don’t be lured seeing the low prices. Things actually happen after 90 days!! They will NOT take those back after 90 days unless you buy extra warranties. Total scam!

DISAPPOINTED reviews Blocked on costco; Extra 30% Markup for delivery

DISAPPOINTED: 1) good products like wild boneless sardines they STOP CARRY; 2) Amex cards they blocked thus I can NOT buy any electronics or expensive items as only AMEX provides EXTENDED WARRANTY and purchase protection that works; 3) when I try to leave HONEST FEEDBACK re $350 in Plaza Caviar that was SPOILED ROTTEN they BLOCK and Prevent me from posting negative review - I tried for weeks.. it always says "Processing" but its a LIE. 4) Delivery from warehhouse is FORCED via Instacart with 20-30% MARK UP + fees .. SO WHAT IS THE POINT OF PAYING MEMBERSHIP??? I am not being heard and do NOT appreciate having my voice BLOCKED on product page where I spent weeks tryign to warn others of awful Plaza Caviar quality only to be Blocked.. This means that MOST NEGATIVE REVIEWS are Silensed by costco software. thus this is a very shady operation. 5) sales tax removal is also NOT an option for Resale items I buy - they took that option away too.

Do not buy tires from Costco

Do not buy tires from Costco! This was my first time to purchase tires from Costco. They push free tire changes and repairs and all these great benefits. Went to schedule a tire rotation, but its 13 days out. Good luck getting anything done quickly.

Giant SCAM and extremely misleading! Heading back to Discount Tire for future needs.

I was with my neighbor who is…

I was with my neighbor who is handicapped. When we arrived their, there were no electric scooters available.I waited about 5mins for someone to come out with one as my neighbor has a hard time walking due to some physical disabilities which limit her too from walking through the store with out it.We were at the exit where they check your receipts and my neighbor noticed that she had forgotten about the dog food beneath her legs and said "oh no we didn't Pay for the dog 1food. She was very embarrassed and she gave me her cards costco/bankcard and I just ran through the self checkout to pay for it while my friend waited in her scooter to go to car with me.We were hurt that she was approached by a Costco employee at the front exit named Krista that asked her "Will you get out of your cart and give up your scooter as someone on crutches had waited 20mins for one...I think your employees should assume the good in people and know that if they didn't need the scooter they would not use it rather than assume she was just able to, not even knowing what her physical disabilities were and never try to assume someone is able to give it up before they are able.We also encountered 2 elderly gentlemen that had commented that they wish they had a electric cart but their were none left when they got here one carrying a cane an visually struggling and the other having a tough time.Costco needs to get more carts bottom line.Everytime we visit the store we too have to wait for a cart so 2 things please talk to Krista about not assuming customers are able to give up their electric cart fir another but also realize this incident could all hsve been avoided if more electric scooters were available for your customers.Thank you for your time and I look forward to seeing more electric scooters in your stores and less waiting around for them when your customers could be purchasing merchandise for you.
Sincerely, Colleen J

I bought a 100” TV and it came with installation the first time installers came we didn’t have the tv they told us we had to call Angie’s list . They came by again and said we have a wrong bracket and a George said if we go to Costco tonight and get a different one he would come by tomorrow to hook it up . The guy never showed so when we called him he said it was cancelled by us an hour later yesterday so when I called Costco. Com the young lady said we had cancelled it I told her my husband and I did not cancel anything but she said she could not help us. We are in our 60’s and now this is bad for us warning do watch what you buy and who has access to your account we will not buy anymore online.

Purchased new tires at the Everett Costco and unfortunately found a scratch on my front left rim immediately after installation. It definitely wasn't there before, and I have photos to prove it. Disappointed in the lack of care during service—I expected better quality control from this location. I'll be reaching out to management to resolve the damage.

Cashier with rude attitude.

Everything about the store was perfect, but I had a bad experience with the cashier at Lomita Store#1202, her name is IRI (OP#120), I felt uncomfortable, she was rude with me and with the customer behind me. I won't be at her register next time.

Costco Waste Of Money No Customer Service Just Incompetence

Wow, 1 star from the public, cant say im surprised, Costco sucks now...they only hire lazy, incompetent people that never assist anyone with anything. They are so incompetent they dont even have the intelligence to realize that assisting some of the shoppers, like myself, meant that i will spend more money, once you assist me...i tried the live chat and the moron first didnt know what i was asking, as if it was difficult asking about a specific product, then never answered when i asked which store has said item...lazy, useless, good for nothing! This store sucks now, really gone downhill! Definitely not renewing, sick and tired of the one time i really need assistance no one ever helps. And worse they know they suck, and still dont care! Just look at the above ratings...no one gave them 5 stars, hell not even 3 stars!

Rude, no parking, people fight in store, store is overcrowded

I had a membership with them for many years and I stopped going because they were more overpriced than my regular grocery store. Recently thought about signing up again becausse my kids insisted. We went one day and we got in just to check the prices. No problem. I was hesitant to get a membership then because the lines are so long and people fight for products inside and the parking is so crowded, I figured it's not worth it. My kids, however, insisted I get the membership and we went back. I decided to double check if this will be a good idea and wanted to walk around again before paying for a membership. The man at the door stopped me and he was so rude, he wouldn't let me in. He sent me to memberships, and he was looking at another man guarding the exit and they were both laughing at me and they kept saying: "it doesn't work that way, you don't get to see the store before getting a membership."
I decided to walk away. Couldn't handle the rudeness, superiority and these people fighting for things inside the store. The parking is awful too, people waiting in line to park 20 minutes before finding a spot that opens. My kids wanted the famous hot dogs. I got in a random super long line (all lines said pick up). After half an hour of me staying in line they say: "It's the wrong line." you must order one line to the left. All lines had the same sign that said pick up.
I kind of feel sorry for the people going there, staying in these long lines, just to consume, fighting in store and in parking lot over who gets what.
We just left.
Not going back.
Greed is sad to watch. Employees were acting soooo superior and entitled.
My grocery store is still better, and many other stores are better without the stress.
