Disappointing

I decided to self-fund a private consultation in order to provide answers after a knee injury and to avoid the NHS waiting time for an orthopaedic appointment. Unfortunately, I was left feeling disappointed and frustrated following both initial and follow-up appointment - with more uncertainty than prior to it. My initial appointment was over an hour late and my follow-up appointment was half an hour late - neither with apology nor explanation.
I had expected a lot more from a private consultation, whereas I could have been a little more patient and saved myself the expense.

Hello, Bowen.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and we are sorry to hear that on this occasion, your experience did not meet your expectations.

We appreciate how frustrating it must have been to experience delays at both your initial and follow-up appointments and to not be offered an apology or explanation.

Whilst we do all we can to ensure that appointments run on time, this is not always possible as both the hospital and consultants' first priority is to ensure patients receive an appropriate consultation which, at times can take longer than expected.

That said, we apologise for any inconvenience these delays may have caused and we are sorry that you were not kept informed.

If you would be willing to share more information about your visits, we can raise your concerns, especially around delays, with the relevant team(s).

You can send this by email to HereToHelp@circlehealthgroup.co.uk.

Should you decide to reach out, please can you include the subject line "FAO Adam RE: Trustpilot" and add your full name, date of birth, post code and the name of the hospital you attended, in the body of your email.

Kind regards,
Adam

First Class Care !

I went in for small op on my knee , the Nurse that saw me first was very nice and caring and very easy to talk to , she put me at ease straight away I didn’t expect that. The Doctor was also very nice and slowly talked me through what he was going to do and then asked me if i had any questions.
It is not a pleasant experience going for any op but this Nurse and Doctor made it as pleasant as could possibly be in my opinion.
First class service , thank you :)

Timeframe for being given any results is too long

The timeframe between my initial consultation and having a scan and then seeing the consultant for results is far too long for a private claim

My Hospital visit was exceptional

My Hospital visit was exceptional, one of the best I have had. The staff at reception were very welcoming and friendly. The consultant I seen Mr Chapman was brilliant, was empathetic about my health situation, really listened to me and showed a great desire to help me with a solution. The consultation meeting instantly made me feel more positive, better about myself and has given me hope there is a chance for improvement with my health.

I feel cared for and it means the world to me that Mr Chapman is going to try a procedure to help me.

Thanks so much to Mr Chapman and all the staff at Kings Park Hospital in Stirling.

Kind regards,

Paul S

Traumatic lack of care for women’s health

My experience with my doctor (gynaecologist), the hospital and the wider services has been extremely poor throughout, and I would not recommend AXA Health, Circle Health Group or Chaucer Hospital based on the care I have received.

1. I felt medically gaslit and not believed

At my appointment, my doctor implied that I was lying when I said I had previously had an MRI because it was not showing on their system, and therefore, in his view, could not have happened. I have previously suffered a brain bleed and know that I have had an MRI. I was only believed when my male partner, who had been present, confirmed what I was saying.

Being questioned about my own medical history in this way was deeply upsetting and made me feel that my account was not being taken seriously.

2. My MRI was cancelled three times

My MRI was cancelled three times because the machine had broken down. There appeared to be no adequate follow-up between cancellations to address the underlying issues with the machine, including the humidity and heat problems.

This had a significant impact on me. I lost work and income each time arrangements had to be made around the appointment. The third cancellation happened one minute before my appointment was due to start. The previous cancellation had been just 30 minutes before.

After I broke down in tears, having already spent 17 years living with pain and trying to get an endometriosis diagnosis, the hospital eventually arranged for me to have the MRI at an alternative location in Blackheath. Even then, the taxi arrived late and I was extremely stressed that I would miss the appointment.

The MRI itself was very loud and claustrophobic. What should have been a one-hour appointment ultimately took around eight hours out of my day once travel and the disruption were taken into account.

Most importantly, after going through all of this, there was no follow-up from the hospital about my results.

3. I had to chase my own MRI results

I eventually had to contact the doctors myself to arrange a discussion about the MRI results. After everything I had already been through to get the scan, I should not have had to chase for follow-up care.

4. There was no meaningful plan for the pain I was experiencing

At my appointment I explained that I was in severe pain and was struggling to walk, function normally or work. I did not feel that my doctor had any meaningful plan or advice for managing the immediate situation.

Instead, the appointment felt rushed, and the main advice I received was that 111 and A&E would not help me. I was left feeling that there was nowhere to turn despite being in significant pain and unable to function normally.

5. Conflicting advice about starting the contraceptive pill

My doctor suggested trying the pill before considering surgery and told me to wait until the first day of my next period before starting it.

Four days later, I was in even more pain and contacted 111 out of desperation. I was told that I could start taking the pill immediately, and that the reason I had been advised to wait was essentially to establish that I was not pregnant.

I had already been in agony for eight days and had experienced a period during that time, so pregnancy was not a realistic concern. I was left wondering why I had been told to wait when I was already experiencing severe symptoms that were significantly affecting my ability to function that week.

Overall, I have found the lack of communication, continuity of care, follow-up and compassion extremely distressing. I have spent 17 years trying to get answers about pain that has had a significant impact on my life, and the way I have been treated throughout this process has been traumatic.

I would not recommend AXA Health, Circle Health Group or Chaucer Hospital to anyone seeking support or treatment for these issues. The standard of care and lack of follow-up I have experienced have left me feeling completely let down at a time when I needed proper medical support.

Hello, Fabia.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are very sorry to read about your experience and the distress this has caused you.

We appreciate how upsetting it must have been to face repeated appointment cancellations, experience difficulties obtaining follow-up regarding your MRI results, and feel unsupported during a period when you were seeking answers and treatment for ongoing health concerns.

We are particularly concerned to hear that you felt your concerns were not fully listened to during your consultation. Every patient should feel respected, heard, and supported throughout their time with us, and we are sorry that this was not how you felt.

We would like the opportunity to investigate the issues you have raised in more detail. Please could you email HereToHelp@circlehealthgroup.co.uk with the subject line "FAO Adam RE: Trustpilot" and your full name, date of birth and post code in the body of the email.

Kind regards,
Adam

Professor Imran Ahmad was absolutely…

Professor Imran Ahmad was absolutely excellent. From the moment we met him, he made both my dad and our family feel completely at ease.

What really stood out was the time he gave us. Nothing felt rushed. He listened carefully, was incredibly thorough and explained everything in a way that was clear and easy to understand. He answered every question we had and made sure we understood the findings and what the next steps would be.

When it comes to your parents, you naturally want them to be in the best possible hands, and Professor Ahmad gave us that confidence from the outset. His professionalism, knowledge and genuine manner really stood out.

We are extremely grateful for the care and attention he gave my dad. A first-class consultant and someone I would recommend without hesitation.
