Terrible!
Since day one, choice home warranty has been a nightmare! I bought a home from someone that had this warranty. So I just decided to keep the company. I closed on the house, everything was inspected and all was well. 11 days after closing the air conditioner quit working. So the process: file a claim, they send someone to look at it and repair it, right? If it’s not repairable, they replace it, right? Not quite. I’m in Florida. It’s August. The average temperature is 90 plus.
Long story short, it’s been 16 days without air conditioning!!! The temperature in the house is between 88-90. At this point, furniture begins to be damaged as well as laminate or wood floors. The humidity in the house is near 80%.
So, on day one a the air conditioner failure, a claim was filed. It took days before a tech was dispatched so I hired a local company to come look at it. They said it was the transformer. So I waited for the CHW tech and he said no, it was the breaker. He reported that to CHW and they closed the claim as completed, meanwhile, I’m waiting for a response from them. A couple days go by, nothing. So I called, only to find out they closed it and I was supposed to file another claim with an electrician. What!
So I file another claim and had to wait a week for an electrician. He comes out, says it’s a $60 breaker. I say great, let’s get it done. He says, I’m not authorized to fix it. What!!! What do mean? He says CHW sent him a message that he’s not authorized to fix it and that I’m required to contact them. So I call and they say they want proof it was working before I filled the claim!!! So I send them the home inspection from closing and wait. No follow up for a day. I call them back and they say it’s not enough proof!!! What do you mean!!! That’s the point of the inspection you imbeciles!! It was working fine. The inspection clearly stated that.
Well here’s what I did prior to closing, I requested the seller pay a licensed air conditioning company to come out, inspect the entire system, clean the ducts, the handler, the unit, and replace all the components. That cost the seller $581. So I upload that invoice and inspection report as well. I call CHW, they say my evidence is lacking! Lacking what! They couldn’t tell me.
So I demand a supervisor. They refused to let me speak to a supervisor and told me that one would call me when they were available. 2 hours I call back because no one has contacted me and I demanded a supervisor. Again, nope, one will call you. I asked when, tomorrow, next week? No, today. Okay so I wait. No call back. So I called them again, and guess what, they were closed.
I don’t care about all they’re bought and paid for reviews. If you have a legitimate and serious issue, they play games and drag it out! I will be filing a formal complaint against them with all my notes, emails, and documented calls. After all this, they had the nerve to send me request to leave a review and slate my wonderful experience with them! Go pound sand!!!
