Compassion

My rabbit unfortunately had to be put to sleep on the 14th of July but I want to say how amazing everyone was especially the vet that saw us (can't remember her name), she explained everything she showed care and empathy throughout the most heartbreaking time and a few days later I received a sympathy card from them which was such a lovely gesture

An utter disgrace!

Cherrydown Vets, Basildon you are an utter disgrace!

We have been with you for 25 years and all our pets are registered with you.

On Friday our 18 year old Pomeranian was dying and literally screaming in pain and your receptionist could hear him and said you couldn't see him!! We begged for help to get him put to sleep so he was out of pain but you offered us nothing!

You once used to care about animals but not any more. You are an absolute disgrace. Call yourself a caring profession? Not any more at Cherrydown obviously. We will never set foot inside your practice every again.

We are utterly heartbroken, Scooby deserved so much better from you.

Thankfully the PDSA have a heart and hearing his screams had him in immediately and our special boy is at peace.

poor service in the event of an emergency

pressed option 1 for a genuine emergency on Thursday morning was told only 1 vet on site who already had some emergencies coming in si i needed to take him somewhere else . live in the same road , my pet is registered there but can't take him in . practice has gone down hill over the years, very short staffed with vets and receptions and vets never stay there for any period of time . been with them for over 25 years such a shame that i have needed to change vets

Disgusted with the service

The staff are always polite and courteous, but we didn't see the same vet twice. After taking our boy over as he was limping and coughing we informed that he had cruciate ligament problem an kennel cough. We questioned the kennel cough as our other dog was fine. Took him back as he reacted badly to the pain relief and the kennel cough may be a upper throat problem. He went down hill over the weekend on Monday tried to get a emergency appointment was told nothing available try another vets, was informed by the second vet that cherrydown had a duty of care, phoned back no appointments try yet another vet. Got a appointment with the third vet, when examaning him, was told he had a heart murmur and a very rattley chest could we take him back on tuesday for a x-ray. We were devastated to be told that he had a mass on his spleen and nodules in his lungs, the lung problem was the reason he coughed. We lost him that day, if cherrydown had been more reactive and did the tests required he may have survived, but we were fobbed of with pills , cherrydown how could you treat him like this after he had been registered with you all his life. Now I will not recommend cherrydown to anybody

Huge changes from how they used to be

I have used this vets for 18 years, but my goodness they have gone downhill in the last couple. There seems to be a very unhappy atmosphere, resulting in some of the reception staff thinking that it is acceptable to be rude and talk to their customers like dirt. One actually made me cry today. I was so embarassed how she spoke to me in front of a waiting room of people. I have witnessed it in the past while being at the vets, but today experienced it myself. I am not sure if they are understaffed, but they always seem to be grumpy and unhappy. I would NOT recommend this vets anymore, which is a shame as for 16 years I thought they were great. No one has a right to talk to people like that, especially when they are perhaps experiencing worry with their beloved pets. No compassion

No compassion

Asking for money twice a day when they knew I was out of the country when my dog passed away and had details of card payment and someone who would pay. Also not follow up call when my dog died at the local hospital. I would not recommend this vet. No compassion.

Incompetent vets!!!

Sitting holding to speak to receptionist have been holding 45 minutes on hold and still no 3 in the queue. wouldn’t use this vets but the only vets using Lepto 2 vaccine ( not as good as Lepto 4).

Update
. Finally got to speak to receptionist at 5.45 (from 4.15). I tried to explain I had been holding for a long time but the receptionist went on ‘ attack’. Talking loudly over me throughout the whole of the call It was hard to get a word in. Ultimately the wickford vets I had phoned and made an appointment with, was an empty building and unbeknown to me my appointment was at Basildon vets. Despite still having Wickford vets address and phone number on website!! To add insult to injury the appointment had been incorrectly booked by Cherrydown’s receptionist and was out of time for my dog to have final vaccinations . This now meant my dog would now require full set of vaccinations starting from scratch that I would have to pay for! During a heated conversation I was told it was my fault for not checking Cherrydowns receptionist booking was accurate ! Grudgingly it was accepted Cherrydown were at fault and would pay for 1st injections . This now means we can’t take our puppy to the kennels and this has ruined our holiday plans. Additionally we can’t take the dog out for another 5 weeks because of the incompetence of Cherrydown vets ! And Not a single apology!!!!!

If calls are recorded please listen to the disgusting way your receptionist speaks to customers

Erica was really kind and helpful

Erica was really kind and helpful. My cat isn’t very well.
Erica did everything she could to find out what is wrong. We are still not sure, we have to go back tomorrow to see if we can get any answers as to what is wrong with him. Thank you Erica for doing all you can for him.

The vet was running 40 minutes late

The vet was running 40 minutes late, and I sat there with my distressed cat like an idiot with no apology or any explanation. I ask the reception twice about it and I was told "shouldn't be long" I waited for another 20 min and I left without being able to see the vet! I will never go back to this vets again. They used to be great but not the service is a joke and they don't care about animal welfare.

Have been with this vets for many years…

Have been with this vets for many years but have found since they got taken over from a fantastic family run vets to a more corporate business everything has deteriorated from the constant change of vets, so there is no feeling of continuity, to the ridiculous waiting time to get through on the phone which includes being cut off on several occasions, to outrageous bills. When the trust goes it’s time to find someone you can trust and that’s what I’ve had to do.
