Went to Chatsworth House to the Xmas…
Went to Chatsworth House to the Xmas markets and tour of the house, market was good but too many dogs , house was awful the trees in the dining room where sparsely decorated and the lights didn’t even reach the top ! Our ticket time was 1.30pm and we finished at 2.00pm, very disappointed

£26 is a rip off for Chatsworth at Christmas this year. Old decorations, and not that many of them. The trees in the dining room were almost bare of decorations and the lights didn't even reach half way up. Elsewhere rooms were only decorated with a tree. If you haven't booked and paid for your ticket, don't bother this year. If you have, try to get your money back and pay just for the garden and market.
I would like to know what, if anything, Chatsworth has to say in their defence and how they justify charging such an amount for an old and cobbled together display.
Been visiting Chatsworth garden centre…
Been visiting Chatsworth garden centre and farm shop for some years now...just lately the restaurant at the garden centre has gone down hill...last two visits I've had meals there that were well below standard...and now if you vist the farm shop your lucky to find a parking place because the overflow car park is always closed off....decided not to bother going in future
More information please
The tickets are expensive with no reduction for buying in advance online. There aren’t any information panels in the house to put things into context so unless you fork out additional money for a glossy guidebook it can just seem a jumble of old stuff with some modern ceramics or pictures randomly distributed along the way. The rooms are stunning - it would just be good to have more information about them. The gardens are lovely and whilst £3 for a brief tractor ride is a rip off, it does give you a brief snapshot of what’s there to be explored.
Visited as part of a mini honeymoon…
Visited as part of a mini honeymoon with my wife. To be honest, got dragged here and didn’t think it would be for me. Happy to stand corrected. Had a fantastic day, helped by the lovely weather. Enjoyed the tour through the house and would describe it as more of an art/museum experience to those who are sceptical. Garden grounds are massive and we easily spent a whole day there. We had the prepackaged picnic lunch whilst there and found it was good value for money. Exploring the grounds would be a good day out for those with children.
Chatsworth Farm shop cafe
Chatsworth Farm shop cafe
Lovely food, helpful staff. Extremely reassuring to see all covid requirements met. We can't wait to visit again!
Paid full entry price only to find…
Paid full entry price only to find that they shut down all of the main catering facilities mid afternoon to accommodate a private wedding. This spoilt our day completely as we had planned to round our visit off with something nice to eat not just something from an outside catering van which was all that was left for the paying public.
Well done Chatsworth for treating your paying public visitors as 2nd class compared to private paying customers.
TOTAL RUBBISH!!
Carlton Lees carpark
Carlton Lees carpark. £5 to park, no disabled concessions. Its just hard core, very difficult to walk on if you are unsteady on your feet. It's a great area, but parking is a rip off when it's so bad on the floor. Get your act together. A wheel chair user would be stuck.
I love going to Chatsworth but…
I love going to Chatsworth but disappointed with the customer service around changing tickets - very unclear communications from the team mean that friends travelling from London now longer can join us.
Last night we went to see the Christmas…
Last night we went to see the Christmas Lights in Chatsworth Gardens. It was pouring down but we made an effort anyway. What a disappointment. There was hardly any lights to look at and even those were poor. It looked as if some lights had been hastily put up. Nothing there to reflect the spirit of Christmas.
Visited Chatsworth on Tuesday 15th…
Visited Chatsworth on Tuesday 15th December. Chatsworth Christmas garden lights where very disappointing . Not worth the money or even the effort more lights on my own road . Don’t bother
Poor show of lights
Went to the Christmas lights in the garden last night, what an absolute waste of money. It could have been so festive, but unfortunately was far from, very few lights and only able to walk round a small part of the gardens. Same on you Devonshire’s
We had another great day at Chatsworth…
We had another great day at Chatsworth House. With there being fewer people looking round the house it was great to see more in each room. You normally have to go with the flow. It was fantastic to have the time and space to look at items more closely.
The safety measures due to Covid 19 which have been put in place were great and made us feel safe.
We had lunch in the Cavendish Restaurant. We told the staff of my wife's allergy. We both had the Ploughman's lunch. My wife's came with different items to mine with no 'I'm not sure what has egg in' which we often get. She felt totally safe and really enjoyed her lunch with no trepidation. Thank you to Ben who was our waiter.
It is great that the house will be decorated for Christmas this year even though there won't be a theme. We love this visit each year with the rest of the family.
Excellent visit to Chatsworth House…
Excellent visit to Chatsworth House today. Despite the poor weather, we had a thoroughly enjoyable time. It cost us only £4.00 to park in the Carlton Lees car park. They even provided clean portable toilets. The lady who welcomed us was very polite and professional and a real credit. There was plenty of social distancing and at no time did we feel under any pressure to hurry our visit. It puts the National Trust to shame. You couldn't find a greater difference between two organisations. It's clear the Chatsworth Estate values their visitors. Thank You Very Much.
Check before you visit.
Can I suggest before visiting for the Xmas Market check the car parking prices so you are fully informed before arrival with no nasty surprises.
A Grand Day Out
Been here many times, but there's always something new, be it on-loan items in the house or displays in the gardens. Took an American guest over yesterday, and she was absolutely spellbound/gobsmacked.
Take time to talk to the staff members inside the house if you can. They're very approachable and full of information and tales,
Wonderful house and gardens
Wonderful house and gardens. We’ve gone for years and it is always a really wonderful day out. The farm shop is also worth stopping at on the way home - beautiful products and local items. Thoroughly reccomend!
Disgusting Christmas market parking £20…
Disgusting Christmas market parking £20 on weekends double compared to last year just making money out of people wants stopping just to park on a field it wants shouting down I feel very sorry for stall holders it's just greed on Chatsworth side
Behind the scenes at the farmshop
A great evening learning about the shop from those who know it best, the staff. In each department their expertise was shared with a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the ethos of why the shop was set up. Delicious samples, particularly the ‘macaroni cheese’!
Our guide, Erica from Barcelona, was enthusiastic about her job particularly about her recent move to the deli counter and her love of the cheese and the beauty of the environment in which she woks, the wonderful land of the Chatsworth Estate.
Good value for the price of the tickets and gives us continued confidence in what we buy from the shop on our next visit to the shop.
We booked assistance for my mother as…
We booked assistance for my mother as we wanted to attend the Jewellery Day. Gareth and Katie exceeded all expectations. They met us with a wheelchair and golf buggy. Gareth ensured my mother had a smooth journey around the House and also arranged access to the theatre for the talk from Sash, the curator. We had a superb visit and can't wait to visit again.
