I bought a car from Charles Hurst a few weeks ago, initially it seemed like it had all gone well. There was an exhaust sensor light on which they said would go away once I drove it for a while. It didn’t go away after several weeks so I booked it back in (which I’ll add took me 20 minutes of waiting just to book) They told me it would only take an hour. I came back for the appt and the girl at the front desk was scrolling her phone, and barely lifted her head to check me in. After waiting 40 minutes with no one coming to see me I found someone who said they didn’t even realise I was there. Finally they took my car and after 2 hours(!!!) they came back and said they’d taken it for an hour long drive but it hadn’t fixed it. In other words they’d wasted all my petrol driving the car, despite me explaining I’d driven it for miles in the previous weeks to no avail. The man at the desk was apologetic, but the customer service is absolutely dreadful overall, they hadn’t listened to the careful detail I’d given them, and I’ve gone away no better and my entire morning wasted. Do not recommend!!

Bought a car last August and found faults with the car straight away. Contacted portadown where I bought the car, was brought back and sat for over 2 weeks and I had to get the car back as they wanted the courtesy car back. Nothing had been fixed, got told to bring it car a month later and had a knocking noise fixed again nothing else was fixed. Brought car back in again and left a lost of what was needing fixed, service advisor useless now no longer works there. Was ment to go back at the end of December, got told no car for me to borrow. Warranty runs out and still no work done. Was driving the car 3 weeks ago and next thing it just stops. No help what so ever. Have complained to lookers now 4 times and still no manager has phoned me not even the director that the complaint now sits with. Dont ever buy a car from hurst. Customer service is none existent and they dont care that they sell unreliable cars that aren't fit for purpose. I still dont have a car and it h a s spent nearly half the time I've owned it sitting in hursts car park

So disappointing. I advised my 20yo daughter to go to CH Belfast for reliability and service. How stupid was I. Biggest regret. Unbelievable that this company is still trading. The reviews reflect the poor standard. Definitely would not recommend for sales, service, communication or aftercare. Absolute nightmare people to deal with loaded with arrogance!

I'm wanting to buy, but based on these reviews,I'll be giving Charles Hurst a wide berth.

Where do I start?
Phones must be inbound only as out of the 60 phone calls made over a near 3 month period not one call was returned.
Nearly 3 months to replace an exhaust sensor and heated seat element.
Left a commercial Defender towing vehicle in and as a courtesy car was given a 2.0 family Discovery Sport with no towing capacity, leaving us hiring vehicles elsewhere to do work. I find it hard to believe out of the entire JLR assist fleet not one had a tow bar capable of towing 3.5t.
To make matters worse on collection an intake pipe wasn't fitted correctly, hadn't even left the carpark and it was in limp mode, had to return for it to be fixed.
Zero compassion from both CH and JLR UK, no empathy or apologies for the exceptionally low levels of customer service.
Save your money on the extended warranty!

Dealing with Charles Hurst in Portadown was hands down the worst experience of my life. Their customer service is atrocious.

This was the worst experience in a dealership that we have ever had. Customer service is definitely not high in Boucher road used car.
Test drive consisted of driving round the lot at a snails pace. Salesman didn't seem to want us to go onto the road. He said to busy. He eventually let one of us drive out front gate, turn left, left again, then left into the rear of the complex. Unbelievable. While with the salesman he kept leaving us without explanation. At one stage we were thinking of leaving. We actually thought the sales man wanted to leave early.
Any time we asked the salesman anything he had to go see someone. Very unprofessional.
My wife loved the car so hence we went for it anyway. Had different dates for to pick it up but none of them came to pass. Was asked to pay total money before receiving car as manager wanted money in before end of month. We had very little communication with anyone one for a couple of days. Then we came to collect the car, it hadn't even been valeted at all. A run of a hoover at least would have been nice. We got a sorry for it not been cleaned. It took 2hrs plus to sort money out etc so would have been nice if someone had cleaned it.
When driving the car from Boucher road a warning light came on. It was in relation to tyre pressures. Obviously the pressure hadn't been checked when it got serviced. All 4 tyres had different pressures in them.
Only my wife fell in love with the vehicle, I would have happily left the building.
Any vehicle we have purchased before has been a happy experience with the excitement of getting a new vehicle home. It definitely wasn't like this at all ref our experience in Charles Hurst.
I could not recommend anyone to go to this location after the lack of service we have had.
Unbelievable the way things are being run at this location.

I left my Yamaha X-Max 300 in for a service at Charles Hurst Yamaha, Boucher Road, Belfast. Staff were extremely helpful and pleasant, I got a quick date for getting the service done, and the service was done in a couple of hours while i waited. And at a reasonable cost.
I am very happy with the way I was treated. It was a very pleasant experience and I would highly recommend.

Bought my second Lexus here. Great service and knowledgeable from James. They have been consistently excellent any time I have dealt with the people there. I would highly recommend.
Unfortunately I can't say the same from any other parts of Hursts I have dealt with over the years.

I have a Jaguar which is a very expensive car and has been off the road for three months. No contact despite many e mails and phone calls to Hurst Jaguar after sales I would give them no stars if the option was available.
No customer service at all

Avoid this company like the plague...car was booked in for safety recall work and they just decided to cancel it when I got down there without any reason or forewarning...just waste people's time and customer service is very poor...oh and don't bother posting your automated response Charles Hurst to lookers complaints as this has been done and no response from them either...the silence is deafening...will never set foot in that dump ever again...

If it was possible to leave a negative score I would. Bought a Mazda CX5 and collected it on Saturday. Sunday morning took it for a drive up the motorway and it was fine. On the return journey an engine warning light showed so had to take it easy but car was fine. Few miles later the engine went, fluids all over the road. Not even 48 hours of ownership and the car is an expensive ornament. Thank goodness for the Consumer Rights Act as I am about to leave the house to demand a refund. You can hand a vehicle back up to 30 days after purchase. Glad I worked in legal.

Would totally avoid Renault Charles Hurst, Newtonabbey. I left my car (10 months old and 4000 miles) in to have the rear badge replaced under warranty due to the Renault badge flaking. While doing this they have damaged the surrounding Paintwork. The car was handed back and nothing was said. It’s obvious that due to laziness or time management, or just blatant incompetence that it has been removed by way of prying the badge out from the front, in turn damaging the surrounding paintwork with whatever they have used to pry the badge out with. As you can see the damage is on all corners where they attempted to remove the bagdge for replacement.
After numerous complaints to Charles Hurst and Lookers, they have made zero contact to rectify this issue. I’ve contacted Renault Uk and they have raised the complaint with Charles Hurst and still no contact from Charles Hurst.
Charles Hursts main concern is selling cars, thats it. No Customer service, no care taken. Get the car out the door and thats it.
I will never buy a car or have any dealings with Charles Hurst again. I understand things go wrong and im a very reasonable person, but the lack of any sort of acknowledgment or contact is unacceptable and shows their attitude toward customers (when your not buying a car)

I bought a car from the Used Direct branch of Charles Hurst and paid for an extended RAC warranty of 2 years.
I was told if I had any issues with the car to contact the RAC which I did. After a mechanic had contacted them and provided all information that they require, they did not honour the warranty. I contacted Charles Hurst aftersales department who had told me because a mechanic had looked at the car the warranty on the car was void. So firstly when I bought the car I was told by the salesman to contact the RAC who told me to use any mechanic in a VAT registered garage. Then the RAC denied the claim and Charles Hurst claimed the warranty was void basically because I had a mechanic look at the car which is what the RAC had told me to do.
If I could give zero stars I would. Stay away from this dealership.

Charles Hurst Peugeot Belfast have my car 54 days and still they have not fixed it.
They keep saying they have the part and I will get my car NEXT WEEK!!!
That's from 6th March.
If only they would tell the THRUTH.
I am not being unreasonable as I have two disabled people to look after and the rental car I have is not suitable. Unable to get one that suits my needs.
I just need my car fixed and returned to me.
I will never use Charles Hurst again after being a faithful customer for over THIRTY YEARS.

My car has been recalled. Two months ago I managed to get an appointment for the 4th May. Having now waited I'm being told by their customer service team that as I am a 'new customer' they cannot see me.
Shockingly poor customer service.

AVOID AVOID AVOID Charles hurst Toyota dundonald, took my car in for a recall and I was noticing smoke coming from the exhaust and ammonia smell, asked them to check over the ad blue aspects - warranty covered fault. Was told that the part was not in stock and would be ordered in, I asked if the car was safe to drive - told yes. Two days later the entire cabin filled with smoke and went into limp mode, and had to get the car recovered and sent to Toyota in dundonald. TOYOTA UK gave me a hire car straight away and I was informed by enterprise that the dundonald garage would extend it if needs be until the car is fixed, rang Toyota in dundonald to confirm this, was told yes in regards to the extended car hire, and carl from enterprise rang on multiple occasions too to confirm, was told that yes no problems, it would just need signed off by the manager when they’re back from holiday, couple of weeks later, i get a call from carl at enterprise saying he had a very blunt call with the manager over the hire term, and they refused to pay - TOYOTA DUNDONALD TOLD ME IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE, TOYOTA DUNDONALD told me it was going to be covered with the hire car, and then to get it so wrong about the car in the first place and u turn on the hire car agreement? It was just over £160 on the hire car, I have since paid this, however i will never step foot in toyota dundonald again, no annual service, no upgrades, ill take my money elsewhere. Terrible terrible customer service from the manager and I will be highlighting this to Toyota UK if this is how a company that represents them treats their customers and going by the reviews…not much more needs to be said on that.

Avoid this dealership. Cars poor quality and staff don't care. Good luck with getting your car repaired or a courtesy car. If you need to return a car good luck getting deposit back. They'll try every move to hold on to it. Staff need retrained. The services they provide are very poor and misleading. Wouldn't go back. No Jack Reid Cars is a different story quick friendly service provided. No small details to big for them to sort. Very helpful and friendly.

The Salesperson Jack seemed efficient he said he was keen to close the sale and was giving a good price for our car as it was the end of the month . It was a Friday 27th march and we asked if the car we were thinking on buying be out for Tuesday 31st march he said probably not but he would try, if not Tuesday it’d be ASAP that week. I asked if he would need full payment and he says no , just the deposit which we then paid. He then went away and came back with the Manager Andy his attitude was aggressive , he said he would put the car back up forsake if we didn’t pay in full by the end of the month . He asked why I didn’t want In full before taking receipt of the car and I said I wanted to keep some control , he asked what I meant and I said I never pay until I recurve goods. He said he didn’t know what I was talking about , asked did I not trust him , he said he was a man of his word , he had never been questioned , had never failed to keep his word . He asked what issues I had and we went out to address the specifics , he was aggressive , played that he could see the issue , (which turned out to be a known fault of that type of vehicle ) he then proceeded to pick at our car and said “if you want to pick at this car I will pick at your car . All the time with an aggressive attitude . I explained that my previous experience with the Boucher branch was that they were able to go into the next month which happened in autumn 2025 when another member of my family bought a car , he said it wasn’t the case and I explained it was and explained how that had been achieved and he said they couldn’t . We wanted the car so went ahead. The car was not ready for the 31st and only after chasing and chasing Jack did we get the car on the 8th April . Awful experience, awful the way Jack said it wouldn’t be a problem but then went away got Andy , introduced him all very nicely , said he wanted a chat and then it all turned aggressive. Andy is not a man of his word !!
