Brighton Parking NAZI's.

Brighton Parking Nightmare.

At multiple road parking sites the phone number displayed to pay didn't work. Total hassle.

So I used PaybyPhone app at another site on Spring Gdns, wouldn't register... Paid at parking meter by card, got billed by my bank, then got a PCN number and Fine but this useless inefficient BANKRUPT council --who charge parking fees up to 8pm because they're so broke -- appeal form takes you to a green pay button after you've entered the PCN nos and Reg. Trying to appeal is very difficult. Sent them proof of payment and they rejected it and doubled the fine to £70? #TotalCon

I AM NOT PAYING TWICE.

Unbelievably poor customer service

Unbelievably poor customer service. Rude telephone staff, incredibly long call waiting times.
Happy to have moved out of Brighton so won’t have to deal with the terrible service again.
Would give 0 stars if I could. They need to do something about this!

THIS LOT DON'T DESERVE ONE STAR!!
I'M 73 BORN AND BRED BRIGHTON.THIS USELESS LOT HAVE TOTALLY RUINED THE CITY.
I HAD A PROBLEM WITH A NEGLECTED DELAPIDATED GARAGE.I DID NOT BOTHER WITH THE SO CALLED TIME WASTING CUSTOMER FEEDBACK.
I ISSUED A COUNTY COURT CLAIM.THEY SETTLED OUT OF COURT FINANCIALLY BUT NO SIGN OF ANOTHER GARAGE THAT AGAIN NEEDED WORK.
WHAT RESIDENTS SHOULD READ IS THE ACCOUNTS AND AUDITORS REPORT FOR THE I360 AT COMPANIES HOUSE.ITS FREE.
THIS COUNCIL HAVE WRITTEN OFF HUGE AMOUNTS OF MONEY THAT WAS OWED IN INTEREST AND THE SO CALLED ATTRACTION HAS NEVER MADE A PROFIT.THEY HAVE LOST MILLIONS BESIDES WASTING MILLIONS ON UNUSED CYCLE LANES.
FURTHER THE AUDITORS REPORTS OVER RUNNING OF THIS PROJECT USE A WORD SEVERAL TIMES.

Beware of bus lane fines

Visited Brighton for a break in a town I don’t know where there were roadworks resulting in road closures the diversion route signs were sketchy to say the least and led me to a route that I had no option other than to enter a bus lane (an empty and safe move) since arriving home have received 2 fines for entering a bus lane one the way in and one on the way out, luckily I didn’t use my car whilst there! Safe to say that I will not be visiting Brighton again.

Where to start with a list so long of…

Where to start with a list so long of failures avoidance and scandal.
A repairs department that couldn’t care less whatever the problem.
Failure to respond to complaints within their own time limits!!
I believe the most insulting and scandalous department is HOMEMOVE !!
Believe this they have insulted every doctor and NHS employee in Brighton.
According to these ignorant managers a patient summary is not acceptable because of the gibberish written by GPs and will only accept reports from consultants. They believe in their total unqualified medical knowledge that they have precedence over the critical work that a consultant does!!
Now since post Covid this council is full of corruption and scandal.
They wasted millions on bike lanes that hardly anyone uses and the i360 that also cost millions has achieved nothing.
There’s plenty more where this came from but as you may already be aware THIS COUNCIL HAS GOT TO GO!!
ONE LAST POINT. THEY HAVE THE ARROGANCE AND AUDACITY TO ASK FOR YOUR BANK STATEMENTS EVEN IF YOURE ON HOUSING BENEFIT!!
I QUESTIONED THEM WHY??
THE RESPONSE WAS WE LIKE TO SEE WHAT PEOPLE SPEND THEIR MONEY ON!! It’s nothing to do with them!!
I PERSONALLY REFUSED AND WAS STILL PUT ON THE BIDDING LIST
THE INCORRECT CATEGORY WHICH I HAVE QUESTIONED!!
Hope some people find this helpful.

Went to Brighton to suffer deeply due to "pay by phone"

Went to Brighton, from Birmingham, to attend a music event, a very Spiritual and elevating moment, see sahajayoga org uk.

When I arrived my fuel was on zero and also my phone was dead, as had missed my phone charger at home. I had no option to recharge my phone in the car, while driving.

As I arrived close to the event's location, close to the city centre, I realised that parking is paid by phone only. I did try every possible parking slot, by circling around the location event, farther and farther from the city centre, with the hope of finding one with "Pay cash" or "Pay by card". I could not find any, except after 18:30 PM, way too far away from the event and way too late for me to get to see something.

This futuristic approach of Brighton city council, with the wrong innovation implemented gave me great amount of pain. By offering only parking by phone, and by removing any other possible alternative to pay, it produced me great distress and emotional damage.

Not only that I lost the event for I drove the car from Birmingham, but I searched parking slot under the constant danger of being out of fuel, without navigation, without guidance and without even the smallest possibility to complain or ask for help.

Everything now is AI, automated, the city hall just takes the money, while ignoring basing human needs of tourists.

If this is not dehumanization I don't know how else should I call this humility I was faced with.

The only fault I did was that I had a dead phone that couldn't be charged, I couldn't stop the car anywhere to go and charge my phone as all parking was "pay by phone".

To make it complete, the kind B & H council has sent me a Penalty Charge Notice, for going on the BUS lane, no BH84679242, I wish to appeal against as illogical.

I clearly feel in my hearth the B & H council do not wants me there, they do not like me, a simple, human like tourist.

A New Broom Does Not Sweep Clean When Wielded By B&HCC

Eleven months ago I wrote to the NEW Chief Executive Officer Jess Gibbons.

She confirms that she is somewhat uncaring in regards to her elderly clients and in particular those of us who are disabled.

She also confirms that she is unable to show any authority over Cityclean in seemingly any respect.
I stated to her that I am down, now for many years, for what as known as an Assisted Collection.
Do you think I received a reply, of course not!

I have covered all the avenues and have still not had my Refuse Bin emptied yet. Like many companies B&HCC have not claimed their Trustpilot account at all.

One day perhaps someone will and then can we assume that at long last some action is going to be taken but I for one will not be holding my breath.

Discrimination at its best.

I am a disabled badge holder and was issued a ticket because my blue time badge was in my wife's car. I'd travelled from Surrey to visit one shop in Hove so I parked on double yellows outside the ginger pig pub. I noted other vehicles parked on double yellow lines with no permits but just notes saying delivering to the ginger pig.... what for 2 hours.. I was parked for 25 minutes and these vehicles did not get a ticket, only my car, perhaps because it was a Porsche and the wardens get free pint to turn a blind eye. I appealed but was denied quite abruptly...talk about corruption and discrimination. I lived in Brighton for many years and I'm glad I got out.... Well done Brighton and Hove parking services for triggering my PTSD on the day.

Council well aware of parking scam - doing nothing about it

This council removed all the seafront parking meters and replaced them with posts stating the name of the app required to pay or a phone number to call. I tried calling the number first but was asked for a PIN which I didn't have. I then downloaded the app in order to pay. I entered all my details, including credit card number etc and was charge £1. Thinking I had done something wrong as I hadn't entered my car reg or how long I wanted to park for, I tried again with the same result. My friend tried herself on her phone and my card was again charged £1. Luckily a very kind passer-by paid for our parking using his app and refused to take the money, bless him forever! The next morning I had a message from Tesco Bank asking about a transaction for £59.99. It turned out that the app listed on the seafront information post about parking is a scam. When I called the council I was told they know all about this, it's a clever label stuck over the top giving the fraudulent app information. Yet they continue to allow this to happen! Most locals have the correct app I imagine, but all visitors to the town have no clue about this appalling scam. The council should SUSPEND ALL PARKING CHARGES until they are on top of the problem. Particularly as they are spending millions on redeveloping Hove seafront. Unlikely to attract tourists when the first thing that happens is you are a victim of fraud that the council know all about Here's an idea: bring back the parking meters, they were a lot safer.
More.... when talking to the council they asked why I didn't use the phone number to pay for parking. I said I was asked for a PIN that I didn't have. I was told that the PIN is the parking location number. Well here's another idea: why not SAY that on the recorded message instead of asking for a PIN?

Shocking

It's four years since Covid, and they still have not or will not open walk in customer service centres. To renew your parking permit, which could be done in 5 minutes over the counter, now takes two weeks. As despite having same car, same address they will always come back with a query, just to delay the process. If they are going to move on-line then the tech should be in place. Should be able to renew a permit for same details instantly, it can't be that difficult.

PS the wardens will book you whilst your waiting, despite them taking payment .

Staff lie to keep you trapped in unsafe housing

We've had nothing but issues with housing staff over the past year. One housing officer appears to bear a grudge against my child and me and lied about the severity of anti-social behaviour we've experienced to prevent us from being considered for rehousing. Sadly, I suspect certain staff members enjoy having power over vulnerable people. We have been forced to stay in a mouldy, unfit home with aggressive neighbours who allow their children to assault other kids, subject them to racist and verbal abuse and vandalise property without consequence. This council is a law unto itself. Managers refuses to tackle staff members on inappropriate or poor conduct and gaslight you to cover up their mistakes. They waste money on anti-social neighbours and then use budget cuts as an excuse when they refuse to help their victims. Even neighbouring councils have issues with the way Brighton and Hove operates, which is very telling. I think the ethos and attitude, towards residents, within this local authority, is appalling, across most departments.

Now charging to park for park and ride…

Now charging to park for park and ride car park. To play any tennis is expensive other countries have free courts. Where does all the money go? A group of people fleecing the public stopping visits to friends and family fining for the wrong bin and always rude and aggressive. I realise no-one works for the council if they have any skill or trade but surely they don't have to be so vile.

Lousy website unfit for purpose

Lousy website unfit for purpose. Impossible to speak to an actual human being about anything, for example today, trying to ask a simple question about Council Tax. Appalling refuse collection and recycling 'service'. Disintegrating and consequently dangerous roads. I could go on..

Wanted to charge £336.82 for property…

B& H sent a bill for 3 months tax £336.82 for property that was empty for only 5 weeks - the time spent decorating it. Then threatened £131.50 in court costs. An email via my account had already been sent to the council telling them the situation. When I rang today, a clerk, called Christopher answered insisting I pay full amount and claim back a refund on the rest. What is the logic of this? I insisted on paying for 5 weeks only as new people will move in shortly. Christopher was totally unobliging:- he either couldn't work out or didn't want to figure out how much was owed for 5 weeks. Even though he clearly had a computer in front of him!!! Had to tell him the amount!!! Who are these people???. I had to ask to speak to his supervisor before he agreed to this. Then he started arguing that I could not ask for a part-payment of council tax according to the law!!!

I can't get through to the council tax…

I can't get through to the council tax office for help. A completely inadequate service. I tried to change the date on my direct debit. Council stopped taking money. I suppose I may get a demand for payment in due course. Totally unsatisfied and now worried about all this. Brighton and Hove, get your act together.

This is the second review I have placed…

This is the second review I have placed on here and judging by the growing intensity of dissatisfaction with Brighton & Hove Council, I am placing another & I speak from personal experience & it is clear I am not the only one ! Resent even having to give them 1 star. Hove went drastically downhill when it was forced to amalgamate with Brighton in the 1990's. The town, and I refuse to call it a city, is a dump. And I speak from over 60 years of living in Hove. Annual council tax rates are jacked up to the highest possible level and a so-called "help" & customer service team, within my personal experience, excel in levels of incompetency & rudeness. Sadly, one cannot use strong language over the phone with them as they hang up, and they have the audacity to expect us to treat them with civil respect faced with their dysfunctional behaviour. Their Facebook page blocked me because I referred to their customer service team as useless. Absolutely incapable of standing up and facing criticism. Leaseholders are having to fight over estimated costings on bills. Over the past three years, or so, I have been trying to sort out a procedure with them, dealing with a totally dysfunctional and incompetent leasehold management team and senior managers who ignore emails, will not respond to requests asking for updates, closure dates and what is more, are totally oblivious to the pressure this has on one's physical & mental health.

How tight are Brighton and Hove Council

Brighton and Hove Council are year on year going downhill, I try and have a little to do with them as possible, however have to annually pay for a parking permit. Each year it get more difficult, I live in a paperless world, even my permit application is emailed to me, I have to download a online Bank Statement as proof of address, which proves nothing yet they know I pay council tax for the property and am registered to vote at the address. Then annually it takes longer and longer to get the permit, generally the lat couple of years appears to be computer issues, this year as last I could not pay as I use a iMac and have to find someone with a windows PC to be able to complete my application.
This year I was shocked to find out that permits now run for 365days not 12month, having had to buy a permit since the system was instigated, the permit has in the 20ish years always expired on the 30/11/XX, this year due to being a leap year it expires on the 29/11/24.
How tight do you have to be to remove one day as it is a leap year? No other annual subscription from my many annual subscriptions charges for 365days except B&HCC Parking. But then again who charges for parking based on emissions rather than size, I would like an electric vehicle but until I escape living in Brighton that will not be possible, can't see them being impressed with if I am lucky a 100m+ lead being run out of my flat window and across the street.
