Unprofessional
In my experience it was clear your audiologists were trained to dispense hearing aids and were essentially sales people, they certainly weren't medically trained. I was 'fitted' with very expensive aids, had numerous problems, and decided to return them for a full refund whilst within the allowed time limit. I was informed by Customer Services that to do that I had to take them to an audiologist and was given an appointment. A day or so later I was phoned by someone from Boots to try to dissuade me from doing this. I made it clear the hearing aids were unsatisfactory, the service was unsatisfactory and I was within the official agreement to return for a full refund. I asked the caller to make sure that the audiologist I was to see knew this and if they made any attempt to persuade me to carry on with the aids and with their service I would be very annoyed. On the day, the audiologist kept me waiting for 15 mins without any apology, she then motioned me into a chair by her desk and told me she was going to check my ears for wax. I told her she wasn't and that I was there specifically to return my hearing aids. I had prepared a letter indicating my dissatisfaction and asking for a full refund. She interrupted me, said she was 'only trying to help' me, adding that she didn't have to have anything to do with me and instructed me to leave her office, marching out and leaving me alone. The security officer appeared, was very professional, at my request checked the aids and other equipment I had laid out, and signed and dated the two copies of the list of items and my statement of return. He kept one copy and I the other. On returning home I emailed a full report of my very unsatisfactory experience to your Head Office at Llandudno and received a full return into my bank account within two days. Despite this, there has been no reply, no apology and I am CERTAINLY NOT recommending your service to anyone else. An NHS full assessment has subsequently confirmed that I am only borderline in need of hearing aids and they will give me a further test in a year. I have a serious balance problem which I told the Boots audiologists about, but they dismissed this and the fact that the hearing aids had made it worse. It was clear they did not have the required expertise to take this into account.
