Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 50 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall due to widespread reliability and support issues. Customers frequently encountered faulty products, unexpected hardware failures, screens breaking, and poor battery life shortly after purchase. Consumers also described customer service as entirely unhelpful, extremely slow to respond, and dismissive when handling warranty claims. Buyers often felt ignored or blocked when trying to resolve their problems through official communication channels. Though some reviewers were happy with certain durable models and appreciated the helpful assistance, others faced ongoing technical challenges. A few users noted that getting spare parts or proper repairs proved exceptionally difficult and expensive.

The BL8800 Pro is not a rugged phone

The BL8800 Pro is not a rugged phone. It's supposed to be able to withstand a fall from 1.5m straight onto concrete!!! Yeah nah. I knocked one sideways of a kitchen bench 900mm and it shattered like a crystal glass. All over. No warranty. Won't even replace the screen even if I pay. Got it fixed myself. Another thing is when I bought it I wanted a phone for rural areas around Nth Qld in Australia. I know I won't get signal in most areas but I still wanted the best phone to pick up any signal at all. Well these Blackviews are hopeless. I reckon an old Nokia1100 would do better. This thing looses signal driving out your front gate.

BV8800pro is NOT rugged

I have (had) a BV8800pro which is said to be a rugged phone.
I had it in my pocket and went into sea up to my waist. The phone died.
Is this what you call rugged???

BL8800 with night vision

Bought a BL8800 with night vision about a year ago.

Great rugged phone but with faults.

The phone is huge, heavy, well-built/made, very rugged, waterproof, etc. The quality is good etc.

I've had this phone for about a year now, but only recently discovered that Android Auto does not work on this phone. Never used it in my car before until I tried recently and no matter what, can't get it to work.

Contacted Blackview support, but they have been utterly useless to say the least... I now have to go and buy another Android phone just so I can use Android Auto in my car. Not impressed, consider yourself warned if this is important to you. Also, in all the time I've had this phone there have never been any updates to any of the software from Blackview, not to Android itself, nothing!

I have deducted 2 stars for Android Auto not working, and another star for their useless support.

Third time lucky?

I have owned two Blackview phones; most recently a BV6600E, in 2021 on which the large battery failed spectacularly to charge after just over a year (obviously outside warranty period, naturally!) and a BV5000 in 2016, which suffered from microphone issues. I believe they are good phones but longevity seems to be an inherent weakness; let us hope for third time lucky, as I have just bought a N6000 compact rugged phone... fingers crossed.

My Blackview phone has gone kaput after…

My Blackview phone has gone kaput after about 12 months. I think its a battery issue, so now it is only good for the bin. Not surprising really, since the phone was so cheap.. I have no sympathy for those who moan about Blackview, If you want quality, then buy Apple or Samsung.

Cheap chinese brick

The phones are relatively rugged, I've had a few for that reason... Battery also not bad... buuuuut the screens are crap and unresponsive, and without fail every single one has started freezing and giving trouble after about a year. Might just be China spying on you in the background, or that it's programmed to give trouble after 12months - ala Samsung and Apple

Waste of money.

Update, the day after posting this google chrome has also stopped working and will completely crash the phone as well. Oh boy I sure do love google powered phones that cant run google apps 🤦🏻‍♂️.
Would rate the blackview bv5900 negative if I could.
Its only real use is a brick.
Its a complete waste of resources and money.
Want your google powered apps on your google powered phone to work? Nah, like typing with Gboard nah cant have that without the processor having an aneurysm, like using google search nah the phone crashes if you use that, even gmail is 50/50 whether its gonna work or crash. And not just the app, half the time it doesn't work it crashes the phone to the point you have to stare at a frozen screen for several minutes or hard restart the phone and notifications do not work unless you have the app open and running. Want text notifications? Nah only if you have less than 2 apps running cause if the messaging app gets pushed to third in line it crashes and refuses to notify you of new texts as well as messenger and any other messaging app. The only notification I've gotten 100% of the time is from phone calls, everything else depends on if its the most recent app or second most recent app used.

Poor return policy for defective unit

I bought a bv5300, the unit is defective the support department agrees . Unfortunately they will exchange it but want me to pay the shipping which is more than 1/2 the value of the phone ...... It's not worth sending it back. When the same happened with a Ulephone, they refunded me and I shipped the unit back at their cost. No more blackview phones for me.....

Dreadful customer serice had Blackview…

Dreadful customer serice had Blackview BL8800 Pro. It's lasted less than two months won't take charge. Blackview won't repair under warranty even after providing sales invoice from supplier as asked for. I wouldn't recommend after the poor service I've received. If phone was good i wouldn't know how bad there after sales is.

I've just got a blackview a55 I think didn't read much into it fairly cheap no issues with it what so ever at all calls texts video call all spot on picture quality not too bad all in all a good cheap phone does what it's meant to do. However the only issue is memory is like a goldfish pretty much none existent if you don't cherish photos or anything it's good for everything else.

Avoid Blackview, bad products and dodgy behaviour.

Ordered a Blackview Tab 6. From the start, it had issues. Most notably spontaneously rebooting. Tablet was used as a small info display, showing a very simple app. Three other tablets doing the same thing work perfectly, so not a software issue. This one would just reboot at random during use.

Returned, and Blackview acknowledged the fault. Then they told me they had run out and couldn't replace it (somehow conveniently forgetting to mentioning this two days before, when they had me return the product, at my expense).
They refunded me for the product, but contrary to the very clear Australian Consumer Law, would not refund the return shipping costs.

I complained to eBay and they gave me a voucher for the postage, but in all a very poor experience. Bad product, bad and illegal service, and deliberately trying to avoid their responsibility under the law.

EDIT: after much arguing, pointing them at this review, and making a complaint to the ACCC, they did eventually refund the shipping. But I have no faith they will do so for others, and will continue to point at their illegal 'buyer must pay return postage' notice. If a product is faulty - it is the seller's legal responsibility to cover the shipping costs and it is high time that vendors lived up to their obligations.

I have a BV6300 po phone

I have a BV6300 po phone. It is pathetic. After just 1,5 year it started all kinds of problems . Its screen is unresponsive. I have to close and open the screen to work properly. Its call speaker doesn't work at times and i have to use its loudspeaker. Its hotspot is a joke. Even if the phone has 4g signal and very good speed in the PC i get ''connected no internet''. This doesn't happens with other phones in the house.
Asking around a lot of people tell me same stories about this model and other models of this company.

Pice of crap products no warranty, no response what so ever, DON'T BUY!!!

Either the cellphone nor the customer serve nor the warranty department are worth it, just the worst company to deal with, bought the BL5500 5G , I was looking for a work robust , rugged phone , I bought the phone and it only took a fall from les than a foot and the damn thing started overheating.

I contacted the company they mail and website and they DO NOT WARRANTY their products, in the US I'd you have an issue they replace you the products, here they don't , I used it for 2 months when had the issue,it's been more than 3-4 months and they said that they would send the spare part si I can take it to a cell phone repair shop, they only "would provide" the spare part, they do not fix it and it's supposed to be under a "1YEAR WARRANTY" Which it a BIG LIE, they won't take the phone back nor give any answers, worst money spent on a piece of junk, I'm still waiting on a tracking number for the spare part.

Money went down the drain, don't buy ANYTHING from this company !

Don’t buy from Blackview

Don’t buy from Blackview! I bought a Blackview smartwatch in November 2022. Less than 3 months later the screen went black and the watch didn’t work. I received no satisfaction from the customer service team. I am very disappointed.
