Do not bother paying for one day delivery.

I paid extra, for one day delivery on a friday. I expected my delivery to arrive on monday considering the weekend does not count. Instead i received a text on monday telling me i will receive my batteries on tuesday. I cannot understand how it is hard to send a batch of ten batteries of on time, but clearly for these guys, it is.

Dear Mr Hussain,

Unfortunately you placed your order at 17.59 on Friday. This is after our 4pm cut off which is mentioned on the product page, and home page. We were closed and our couriers had collected for the day.

So as you correctly stated, we were closed for the weekend and you didn’t select a weekend rate. As you missed the deadline on the Friday, your order was dispatched on the next working day which was the Monday, for Next Day delivery on Tuesday.

I’m sorry if there was any misunderstanding but we do state order by 4pm for same day dispatch. We did delivery your order on time and uphold our obligations for the shipping method you selected.

Yours sincerely,

The BatteryStation.co.uk Customer Service Team.

Absolutely hopeless, and non-existent customer service.

I ordered 10 Duracell D batteries on 25 July and paid £5.99 for next day delivery as I needed them by the 28th.

I received three e-mails from Battery Station later on the 25th telling me that the order had been despatched.

On the 26th I got a text from couriers DPD saying 'Sorry, we haven't received your BatteryStn parcel yet so we can't deliver it'.

I had no further updates, so on the 28th (the day by which I had to have the batteries) I rang BatteryStation Customer Services and told the lady there that I wanted to cancel my 'next day delivery' order as I had now had to buy the batteries elsewhere.

She told me she couldn't help me with that, she would have to take my details and get a member of Sales to call me back.

I said that I had expected Customer Services to be able to deal with the problem, but she said no, it had to be done through Sales.

She took my order no. and contact details and said someone would contact me. No-one did.

Today, 2nd August, eight days after I paid for next-day delivery and five days after I asked to cancel the order, a courier delivered the batteries.

Dear Neil,

I'm very sorry to hear about this failure of our courier, and the clear lack of customer service you got from us. This would have been replied to last year when this occurred but we were not notified about this review.

We are going to look into this issue now, to check that you are refunded for the shipping problems appropriately.

Kind Regards,

The BatteryStation.co.uk Customer Service Team.

Prompt Delivery & Great Service

I've used Battery Station for many years for all types of batteries from Lithium to AA and 9V MN1604 and even button cells.

They offer a large range of cells at competitive pricing, all coupled with a fast reliable delivery from the UK.

Order and delivery process worked smoothly. All items arrived on time.

All the batteries ordered were adequately within their expiry dates. However, the pack of 20 Varta Idnustrial D LR20 cells had a production date in Spring 2014. This means that they are almost a year old on delivery to me. This effectively shortens their shelf life for me, therefore reducing their value for money. I will check how they perform in use and submit a further review later on.

Refund

I ordered a camera battery which was the wrong size.
I contacted customer service for advice re : return and was advised by a helpful and polite person.
Again when I queried whether the battery had been received, both women that I spoke to were great ( Caroline and Amber ) and I received my refund without any fuss

Excellent.

Why do anything else

I write this not having got ladt order due to snow. We are remote!

But it is the easiest and best service i use on the net. If you need batteriesregularly for torches or, god forbid as i do for the wifes battery powered candles, this is the place no question.

Excellent Service, spolit by the promotion of stupid 0844 phone number

I found this company on line and wanted the product that local store did not have. Prompt delivery and slick admin and correct receipt. All good.

Lucky for them I did not see they have an 0844 number. I have a policy of not using companies that hide behind such numbers. Because if you do need to call for any reason the call charge costs are punitive and unfair.

It means they loose two stars.

Reply from BatteryStation.co.uk

Dear Mr Kaye,

Very glad to hear that you had excellent service from us, which is what we thrive for.

We use the 0844 number as it used to be local rate when we signed up for it, and it came with a fully featured IVR system and the ability to route this to various numbers, including for free. To get the same capabilities using BT or another business carrier comes to over a hundred pounds more each month. This would be a cost we'd inevitably have to add to our operating costs and would effectively increase prices slightly. We are certainly not hiding and we provide our full address and email addresses on our contact page.

I understand why customers might not be completely happy with calls to 0844 numbers but while Ofcom keep changing the charges to 08 numbers, over and over again, we have no plans to change it for now. It would be very expensive for us with all the stationery needing to be updated. So when a set convention has settled on what is going to remain a true local rate number, we'll change then.

Kind Regards,

The BatteryStation.co.uk Team

Update: We have taken onboard your concern about the 0844 number, and we now use a local rate number which is 01274 240240.
