Looking at 166 reviews, reviewers overwhelmingly had a great experience with this company. Customers frequently highlight the excellent staff, praising their helpfulness, patience, and professional approach, which makes learning enjoyable and effective. The user experience is consistently described as positive, with many appreciating the platform's flexibility, ease of booking, and the ability to schedule classes at short notice, even minutes before they begin. The product, including the curriculum and variety of teachers, receives high praise for its effectiveness in improving Spanish speaking ability and confidence. However, some reviewers were not happy with the service, mentioning issues with the curriculum materials being useless or error-ridden, and occasional difficulties in finding available teachers for specific programs like DELE. The staff and teachers were easy going

The staff and teachers were easy going, friendly, and always helpful. The teachers all have a different style of teaching which I found quite helpful. They were also patient and paced the lessons individually.
I wholeheartedly recommend Baselang.

Unlimited one on one conversation…

Unlimited one on one conversation practice has been very good value. You need to practice taking a lot and without the unlimited access I have here, I don’t know how else I could have done enough without spending a fortune for per-hour lessons.

Baselang is amazing.

For me its really useful, I know baselang in chatgpt, because that time I was struggling to learn Spanish, I tried different options, such as watching YouTube videos, taking online classes, books about grammar, etc, but none of them worked. I have been studying in baseline 4 month with many classes per day, which is amazing, I like most of teachers in baselang, they are very patient and responsible to teach me any details about this language, I think I will continue to stay in baselang for long period of time, amazing!!!

super handy service

super handy service, you can get tons of speaking practise, speakers have good internet connections, and speak english well to guide you, great diversity of speakers and there is literally always someone available. Goes in blocks of 30 minutes so it you decide to speak at 12:01 you will have to wait 29 minutes to get started in the worse case scenario which isnt that bad.

After taking 350+ classes, it's good—not great

I've taken 350+ classes this year in BaseLang, and I have very mixed feelings about the platform.

The good: The curriculum is truly excellent—this is the way to actually learn Spanish. Instead of stupid AI-driven apps, BaseLang lets you speak 1:1 with a real teacher, and fluency is actually possible.

I also love the opportunity to try out many teachers and find the ones you sync with in personality and teaching style. I currently have two primary teachers whom I adore!

The bad: Speaking of teachers, I am very concerned about the teacher experience side of the business. Aside from my husband and maybe my virtual teammates, I see my Spanish teachers more than anyone else, so of course I've gotten to know them and am genuinely invested in their wellbeing too.

I do not believe BaseLang pays their teachers a livable wage, and I can't help but believe we are all exploiting them and cheaper labor. For me, personally, I would be willing to pay more for my teachers to get paid more. I even suggested to BaseLang that they give us students the opportunity to "tip" or "buy a coffee" for our teachers. Of course I received no feedback or even acknowledgment of receipt.

I also believe BaseLang ultimates punishes the best teachers and pushes them into burnout. My first long-term teacher was one of the most popular in the platform, but BaseLang fired him anyway. I'm worried that some of the other best teachers are headed in the same direction.

The other thing I really hate is the electives. A gross number of electives is required for each level in order to officially progress to the next. In theory, electives make sense, but in practice, they're actually miserable. I believe electives should help me live and travel in Spanish-speaking countries, but these courses are essentially useless and a complete waste of time. For example, I took an elective for "at the mechanic" because I assumed it would help me go to the mechanic for basic things: my tire is flat, I need an oil change, something is working correctly. But no—instead, it was teaching me very in-depth vocabulary for intricate car parts, as if I were studying to be a mechanic. Literally every elective is a waste of time. Imagine needing 15-20 H O U R S of these for each level that you complete!

I recently sent a detailed feedback about the electives and I purposefully marked the note as "response required." I'll give you one guess if I actually got a response from BaseLang.

To be honest, I will continue my course curriculum with BaseLang, but I will not continue my subscription past that. I also will no longer recommend this platform to anyone who's looking to learn Spanish.

One final note: There is a BaseLang physical school in Medellín that is a separate entity from the online school. BaseLang Medellín is a wonderful experience full of the best staff and teachers. If you're interested in in-person classes, do not hesitate to go there.

I’ve studied with BaseLang in 2022 and…

I’ve studied with BaseLang in 2022 and 2023 but then had to stop. Now I am restarting my BaseLang learning once again at the end of 2025, and having a great time. Even though I have not spoken Spanish in about 2 years, I am picking it up really well and find that I have retained lot’s of the knowledge I gained a few years back with BaseLang. I think this platform is great!

Excellent Program

The content and the teachers are great! I started at a lower level than I thought was “the right one” and while it was a lot of review for me, it really helped me lock in some of that information even better.

I have tried quite a few teachers before settling in my favorites and honestly, all were great in different ways. Any time I switch teachers they pick right up where I left off. This program is awesome and I recommend it to people all the time!

I reluctantly joined Baselang as I…

I reluctantly joined Baselang as I thought it was a bit expensive. Initially i joined the Lite version but just 30 min sessions were too short hence i joined the regular. I am really enjoying it. Its great to talk to spanish speaking people from different countries in South America. All the teachers have been great. I really wanted to practice conversing. I did 2 plus yrs of Duo Lingo. I thought i did not learn anything but I did as i know many spanish words due to Duo. Now with a mix of grammar and conversation I think I am improving. I have not used Baselangs full potential but its great and you have to be motivated to learn. Nothing happens automatically. You need to put in the effort to learn the grammar. The teachers are very forgiving and allow you to talk inspite of grammatical errors. The tenses are complicated in Spanish and there is no choice but to learn the rules and conjugations. All in all i am enjoying learning with Baselang. The best part is you can sign up for classes even 10 mins before the hour.

BaseLang has been absolutely wonderful…

BaseLang has been absolutely wonderful for my Spanish! I’m able to take lessons 5-6 days out of the week for a better price than you can get anywhere! I love that they have a wide variety of teachers to choose from, as I think conversing with and learning from different teaching styles helps me learn faster. I also appreciate that there are tutors from so many different countries. The curriculum and associated pre built flash cards are pretty well done and I have without a doubt dramatically improved my Spanish speaking ability and confidence in just a few short months. I also appreciate that I can schedule lessons late at night and on short notice, as that often works best for my schedule. It’s really flexible in a way that most other courses aren’t. You can choose to learn about whatever is important to you! Speaking the language with immediate feedback is necessary to learn quickly and I get exactly that! I can’t recommend BaseLang enough!!
