0 stars if I could! Absolute garbage service. Avoid AT&T prepaid at all costs. I switched to an iPhone 12 back in March, and ever since, my service has been non-existent. I can't receive SMS text mess... See more

Do not switch over to AT&T!
Do not switch over to AT&T!
They do not believe in making their customers happy. I have not spoken to a single person yet that I can understand. We opened a case and was told that we would be contacted within 3-5 business days. I get an email the next day saying the case was closed. Not cool. Now I have to call back for the 100th time to inquire. What a waste of time. Go with another phone company.
Final 1-Star ReviewTitle
Final 1-Star ReviewTitle: Impossible to reach customer support if you work regular hours.Cons: Impossible to contact support, rigid hours, terrible accessibility for BYOD users.Review: I tried bringing my own phone to AT&T, but the onboarding and support process has been a nightmare. There is absolutely no way to get a hold of a live person unless it is during a very narrow window of hours—which happen to be the exact hours I do not have access to my phone. If you have a normal work schedule or times where you are separated from your device, you will be completely locked out of getting any help. They make it incredibly difficult for new customers who just want to activate their own hardware. I am in a facility. I only have my phones specific hours. And I do not have my wallet AT&T is absolutely no help. I need to cancel my service which was never activated. I'm more than willing to start it in two weeks. But it's making me regret that decision. Because AT&T it is completely unreachable. After business hours, only thing I know to do is to block the payment directly from my bank. I do not own anything from AT&T they never activated. My phone I want to do this in two weeks. When I'm at home, have my phone and my wallet. But a t and t does not want to play ball with that, i'm coming from spectrum, they have24/7 phone support.
I’ve never seen a company that never…
I’ve never seen a company that never wants to work with their customers at all. I love T-Mobile thinking AT&T would be better the most horrible experience ever including price increases and they don’t even want to work with your bill or waive a late fee for the first time after being with them over a year. I am so agitated with this company the representatives tell you to put the phone down go get a drink, relax until a supervisor come on the line after an hour. They don’t take your time seriously after going to work working I do not want to be placed on hold for so long. I wish I would have seen the reviews before I got to service. I do not suggest any of you all to come to AT&T unless you want to sit and wait for a very long time just to speak to a supervisor, but of course you’re gonna need one because of your price increase. I wish I could rate this company with zero. Signed off disgusted Customer.
Worst Sales & Customer Service ever
I happen to be in a BJ’s store and was approached by someone who said they were a representative of AT&T selling iPhones with a special promotion. Typically I would’ve said no thank you, but for some strange reason, which I now regret, I told the representative that I did not want to stop to hear his pitch, but he could walk with me and my husband, if he wanted to, and tell me what they were offering, which he did.
After listening to him, and since I was so very skeptical, I decided to speak with a supervisor at BJ’s to ask if he knew anything about this AT&T promotion. He was not in the store that day, but I was told he would be in, the following morning, and I did speak with him then. He did not have much information to offer, but said AT&T representatives were in the store every day.
I asked the AT&T representatives at that point, if I decided to purchase the phone through them and there were any issues afterward, could I call AT&T directly or go to an AT&T store and they assured me that I could, so I proceeded.
Since the representative who approached me initially was new, and I was his first sale, his supervisor who was present, decided to handle the sale of the phone to me as follows:
The Next Up plan was offered to me, which included the iPhone 17 Pro Max at $118 plus per month, between mid April and September. At that point the new iPhone 18 Pro Max would be out and I would be able to trade in the 17 Pro Max and receive the iPhone 18 Pro Max at no additional cost. Additionally, my monthly bill would be $70. That sounded good to me so I decided to go ahead.
Several weeks later, I discovered by accident that the Next Up plan, which is what I was offered was not added to my plan.
After making numerous calls to the initial representative, the representative, who did the transaction and their boss (most of those calls were not returned) with no response or any that was satisfactory, I resorted to text messaging. I’ve also reached out directly to AT&T, which went to escalation a couple of times and every time it’s the same answer which is, there’s nothing they can do.
It is appalling to me that a company like AT&T cannot fix what seems to be a simple problem. If a customer was offered a particular plan, regardless of what the policies are, that plan should be honored. Whether the representative made an error (which would be surprising as within a couple minutes of telling me what the plan was, the transaction was initiated) or they were trying to increase their sales. It’s hard to discern BUT THE IDEA THAT NOTHING CAN BE DONE IS UNACCEPTABLE.
If I did not have this issue and had called AT&T to change my plan. They would’ve done it.
I’ve dealt with many companies and they always make an effort to accommodate a customer who was not given what they paid for. Whether it’s a one time courtesy or they make an exception or some kind of accommodation. But to keep telling a customer, there’s nothing that can be done is unfathomable to me, when it was their own representative, who failed to add to my plan what she told me she was selling me.
It appears they don’t value customers perhaps they are a big company and they think they have enough customers, I’m just not sure. either way this is really a very bad business practice and model.
playing admin abuse
playing admin abuse and ts stupid wifi randomly disconnected me from my phone but not my pc, L wifi never would reccomend AT&T always letting me down wasted $100 dollars bro, randomly crashing my internet and usually on outages 0/10
AT&T is the WORST
AT&T is the WORST
I had an agent come to my house to sell me their service. I had 4 people - 5 with me transfer over from T-mobile to join AT&T with a great business deal they were offering me. I should have known that it was too good to be true.
Ever since I have not received one single bill that reflects the amount that I was promised. I have had to call every single bill and fight with them about the ridiculous amount I am being charged. I just got off the phone AGAIN with surprise charges no one told me about. I have shared my story with some people and I have come to learn the same thing happened to them with AT&T. It is all a SCAM!
No wonder the lady insisted and insisted on a new line for an apple watch after I said over and over we did not need it.. WHY ? because this is how they get their money with opening new lines..
I will be leaving AT&T and going back to T-MOBILE... NEVER AGAIN
This is a repulsive business model
Wanted to see if AT&T had a veteran’s promotion. Kept asking me for more and more personal information. I said I’m not purchasing anything and was told “you’re not making any payments today”. I work in sales, I know when a question is being dodged.
I said I am not giving any more information and the call was rudely ended and now I have an AI robot spam-calling me.
This company is a joke. I have to give my full name, home address and whether or not my home is an apartment to STOP GETTING SPAMMED!
LOSE MY NUMBER! STOP SPAMMING ME WITH AI! I WILL NEEEVEEER WORK WITH THE COMPANY IN MY ENTIRE LIFE! THIS IS DISGUSTING! I DO NOT CONDONE THE USE OF MY INFORMATION. I DO NOT WANT PROMOTIONAL MESSAGES. NEVER SPEAK TO ME, OR SEND ME ANYTHING EVER AGAIN.
I wish I could leave zero stars
I wish I could leave zero stars. My modem died, I go through at least two a year. I called and I can barely understand the operator, which is typical of AT&T. After going through all the diagnostics and me REPEATEDLY explaining I can’t use the app because I am not on wi-fi he “Adam” said it’d be A WEEK before a technician could come out. When I asked for them to send me a modem and if it didn’t fix the problem to then send it a technician, they wouldn’t without charging me for the modem and charging me $450 for a technician to come out. I asked if I could buy a third party modem and they said I can’t, it would plug into my modem. The technician unmuted his mic and there were a lot of people screaming in the background speaking another language. He continuously went silent and I had to keep asking if he was there , he talked over me. If I order a modem and pay for it out a pocket and there’s an issue with the line they’ll charge me additional money.
Absolute worst customer service experience of my life. I’ve been with them over a decade. I’m sure if I was a new customer requesting service they’d send someone out in a day, they don’t give a sh!t about their long term and loyal customers.
Worst customer service!
Cannot believe how AT&T can tout itself to be the No.1 brand. Every time I called in, a different agent will give me different information. Despite having the conversations notated and recorded by AT&T itself, they still refused to honor whatever they have promised in the previous call! Would have given the rating a ZERO if there is an option!
AT&T really sucks
AT&T really sucks. About 14 months ago, one of their business sales reps came into my store, telling me internet and up to 3 phone lines would be $100 a month and my Comcast Business early termination fee would be covered. She mentioned that the first month's bill would be more than usual, then it would be $100 a month.
We also signed up for 2 phone lines instead of the 3 that were offered, with our own phones (no phones purchased). It has been 14 months, and our bill is $220 or more, and our Comcast termination fee was not covered. My phone calls or text messages to that sales associate have not gotten a response since then.
I gave up and was just focusing on my business until today. For the past week, the internet has been slower than dial-up, and the phone signal is so weak that at times it shows SOS on the cellular signal.
This is completely a rip-off. At this point, I am disputing these charges and will not continue paying for service that is not being provided as represented unless they reimburse me and fix the signal/speed. If AT&T chooses to send the account to collections instead of fixing the issue, they can deal with the dispute and documentation there.
Also, it should be 0 negative stars, not even 1 star.
Service and promotion Spam
We got 4 lines from AT&T in Costco, out of which one phone was not fully paid. They mentioned we can go ahead and pay for the phone and early termination fees to the old carrier, and they will send us the Debit card for all of them. I filled out the form submitted and was expecting 3 cards.
1. $500 Pending amount for the phone (Did not receive, and after multiple calls still no response)
2. $175 Early Termination charges (Received)
3. $175 last payment of the bill. (Received but the Debit card doesn't work called multiple times to issue new one but no response and now the card is expired)
Two phones have SOS all the time outside. just works at home only. Called to get it fixed they said they will restart and should work fine, still the same.
I AM SO FRUSTRATED THAT I AM WAITING FOR MYY CONTRACT TO GET OVER WITH THEM AND SWITCH BACK TO MY OLD CARRIER (Best service and affordable).
AT&T has been the most underhanded cell…
AT&T has been the most underhanded cell phone provider I have ever had. They lock you in with a 'free' phone but they just make the payment and if you want to leave you have to pay the difference. Repeatedly associates and their website state that by removing a line our bill will go up by a certain amount and do not mention the associated charges of that additional line still make the bill lower. We will never go back to AT&T once we leave.
Failed AT&T number port, incoming SMS failure, account lockout, and repeated inability to obtain support
I switched my wireless service from Xfinity Mobile to AT&T on Thursday, August 6, 2026. I ordered a new iPhone for pickup through Best Buy. When I picked it up, I was essentially handed the device without a complete in-store activation process.
Since switching, my incoming SMS/text messaging has not worked correctly. Calls and iMessage eventually began working on the new phone, but regular incoming SMS messages continued routing incorrectly instead of reaching my new AT&T device.
AT&T’s own systems have displayed conflicting information about the transfer. One AT&T page showed my number transfer as still “in progress,” while another activation page stated that the number was “already active.” During an AT&T live chat, an AT&T representative specifically checked the account and told me that my line was still under the other carrier and had not yet been successfully ported to AT&T. The representative then stated that there was an error during the porting process and referred me to AT&T’s Port Activation Center.
Despite that acknowledgment, I have been unable to get the problem corrected.
Since Thursday, I estimate that I have contacted AT&T close to 40 times through telephone calls and online chats. I have been transferred between departments and directed between AT&T and Best Buy, but the underlying problem remains unresolved.
The situation has now created an account-security deadlock. AT&T representatives repeatedly tell me that they cannot take meaningful action on my account without either my AT&T account passcode or a verification code sent by SMS. However, I cannot reliably receive incoming SMS because that is the exact service that has been broken since the failed port.
When I attempt to establish or reset my passcode, AT&T attempts to send a verification code to the affected wireless number. I therefore cannot obtain the verification code needed to establish the passcode, while AT&T support will not proceed without the passcode or verification code. I am effectively locked out of getting assistance because AT&T requires the malfunctioning service to authenticate me before AT&T will repair that same malfunctioning service.
Earlier in the troubleshooting process, AT&T instructed me to erase my old phone and remove/forget the old device so messages would stop routing there. I followed the troubleshooting guidance. The old phone has since completely stopped working and will no longer power on, so I no longer have access to any verification messages that may still be routing to that device. I am not alleging that AT&T caused the old phone to fail, but AT&T’s verification process now depends on SMS access that AT&T has still not restored on my new phone.
The morning after this problem began, I also woke up to find that my AT&T wireless line had been suspended/disconnected. I was not given an explanation for why this occurred. I had to physically visit an AT&T store to have my service reconnected. Restoring calling service did not fix the incoming SMS problem.
I have screenshots documenting the conflicting AT&T port/activation statuses, the suspended line, the AT&T verification-code requirement, and the AT&T live-agent conversation acknowledging that there was an error during the port.
This is not merely an inconvenience. I have been unable to work since switching to AT&T because I depend on incoming SMS functionality. It is now Sunday night, August 9, and I am expected to work Monday, but the problem remains unresolved. I have spent several days and approximately 40 interactions trying to obtain basic working wireless service and still do not have a resolution.
I got scammed
I got scammed
They quoted me a monthly rate of 85 dollars with no activation fees and I got charged much more. Customer service refuses to acknowledge their lack of transparency. The initial rep who sold me the plan kept saying they would refund me but they never did and never will. They over billed me the subsequent two months as well.
AT&T? Not Even If It Was Free!!!
AT&T is absolutely, without a doubt, the single worst company I've ever done business with. The product they offer is overly expensive (even if the upfront cost seems low), the customer service stinks and if you do need service at some point, talking to a real human being is next to impossible. To put it simply, I've switched to Spectrum and wouldn't go back to AT&T if they gave me their offerings for free.
I can't be any clearer then that, can I? Buyer beware!
AT&T is terrible
AT&T is terrible! They charged my account without authorization. They are fraudulent thieves and they have deceitful business practices to try and get clients.
AT&T is absolutely the worst phone…
AT&T is absolutely the worst phone company I’ve ever used. They are very unprofessional, just got off the phone with them where two of their agents hanged up on me and one of their agents trying to gaslight me into that didn’t happen, but conveniently enough, whenever I asked about a payment plan, the call ends, two times in a row. They always fail to tell you all the information you need upfront to make sound decisions before signing up for their discounts or insurance plans and two week later, I have a $300 charge extra on my phone bill. Very incompetent, and always feels like a cash grab with them because they intentionally without certain information.
Excellent Customer Service from Billy!
I had a wonderful experience with AT&T customer service today. I was considering switching to another internet provider because I wanted faster internet at a better price. Billy took the time to understand what I needed and found an excellent loyalty offer for me.
He upgraded my service from Fiber 500 to Fiber 1000 (1 Gig) while lowering my monthly bill for 24 months. I was very pleasantly surprised!
Billy was patient, friendly, professional, and extremely helpful throughout the entire process. Because of his excellent service and the great offer he found for me, I was happy to stay with AT&T.
Thank you so much, Billy, for making this such a positive experience. Excellent customer service!
Tablet no case
So I got a tablet from them I called to get a case and was told they don't carry them. What the hell kind of service is that wait 3 days for the tablet now need to elsewhere for a case up to 7 days for that. Im sending the tablet back
I’ve experienced a high level of…
I’ve experienced a high level of difficulty trying to do anything outside of being billed for service . It’s always amazing to me when companies fail to fulfill their obligations to customers but never miss a billing cycle nor adjust billing based upon poor experience due to their negligence.
