If I could give no stars I would

If I could give no stars I would.
My dog went in at 8:30am for a dental procedure. 14:30 text message received from them to say that he hasn't had a procedure done as other surgery's ran over. I get things can run over but leaving it until 14:30 was disgustingly when he'd been nil by mouth since lunch time yesterday as advised. They never offered my dog any food or water. He suffers with separation anxiety and was hugely upset when I picked him up. No apology or empathy from staff. I was visibly shook up for him and was just told he was fine.
I had to ask for a refund. It was never offered neither was an apology. Awful call themselves animal trust and put welfare of animals first. It certainly wasn't for my dog.

Bad practise, waste of time.

Bad practise, not helpful, and straight up a nightmare to deal with.

All I wanted to do is get my dogs up to date with their vaccinations. Their booking system doesn't work, I report it, and then get harassed about a separate issue.

Constantly back and forth with contradictory messages, and ultimately a waste of time.
The worst person, Ben Mallinson in Dewsbury.

And this was going on from MARCH 2026.

How much?

The locum vet was absolutely fantastic. Explained everything to me, gave me alternatives and tips to alleviate my dogs symptoms, the lady knew her profession really well. However, after consultation I went to reception and just got told how much I owed them. Be nice to have a breakdown of what I was paying for, for future reference( hopefully not a repeat visit) for my dog. They’re local which was good, parking made easy, water bowl was empty but it was busy. This was my first experience with the surgery. Five + stars alone for the vet

I went on a follow up appointment…

I went on a follow up appointment hoping to see the vet who had dealt with my dog on the first visit.. Instead I was given a nurse who was very unhelpful & quite hostile (must’ve been having a bad day) she told me if I wanted to see a vet I would have to book another appointment this leaves my dog with no painkillers for at least a month.. he’s 13 years old & struggles with pain, I thought this was a caring profession obviously this nurse must’ve missed that bit of training!

Excellent service

I visited the St Helens surgery today. All the staff are friendly and the experience was great. The vet Olivia gave me options and did not push for the most expensive.

Excellent staff and services

I find all the staff at Animal Trust Bolton extremely helpful and very supportive, especially Lizzie the vet who is so gentle with my Bella & Dottie who are both nervous patients, but they both trust her as I do, she is very gentle and kind and make sure they don’t feel scared … thank you, I would highly recommend Animal Trust Bolton

GOOD FIRST TIME EXPERIENCE

Just registered my dog on Wednesday. Got appointment on Friday. Bit difficult to book as kept saying the appointment id chosen was no longer available when it came to confirming it so had to start again and thought all appointments would be gone but got one. Staff are really nice. Vet was helpful and knowledgeable and was good with my dog. Felt happy with diagnosis and treatment plan. Didn't wait long at all.

Cannot fault!

I haven't been with Animal Trust for long with my cat, but the experience so far has been amazing.

I moved my boy over to them after experiencing 4 urinary obstructions. His old vet wanted to wait to see if he had a 5th before a referral for surgery, but I wanted a second opinion.

The first vet he saw at Telford actually caught another UTI, something I did not even capture, just by being thorough in his assessment and monitoring - cannot thank him enough for that.

Once that UTI was cleared, another female vet at Telford called me with his results from his sample post antibiotics. She listened to my concerns and personal circumstances about why I wished my cat to have planned PU surgery instead of waiting for another life threatening emergency. She got straight to contacting a surgeon at Shrewsbury, who within 2 hours, had accepted him for a consultation and surgery (if all was healthy). I got that appointment booked in at a time that suited me as I was already on annual leave from work.

Surgery day - fully explained by the surgeon what his plans were pre-op, and said right away if i hear nothing, then surgery is going ahead. Got my update earlier than expected still, but surgery was done and I was kept fully in the loop!

They cared for him amazingly well over night, but he is fussy and no matter what, never eats/drinks in the vets! They allowed him home still the next day in the hopes he would eat, drink and use the toilet once home in his own environment. Thank you for the trust in me to allow me to do this and trust in me that I know my boy, and knew he would do just that!

The check ups have come as planned, phone call on day 3! They reiterate all the time that I can call or email at any point, which gives me such reassurance that I can seek advice or bring him back with any worries.

So far, so good! My boy is his happy self for the main part, he just hates being confined.

Thank you so much to Telford and Shrewsbury for giving my boy the best chance to have a block free life going forward. Thank you for listening to me about my circumstances and taking that on board a long with my cats otherwise good health, young age and supporting me in making sure I do everything I can, to keep him happy and healthy for hopefully, a long life!

Our experience

This is not a first time we needed to use animal trust. I just wanted to submit a little review of our experiences.on
We were always greeted by lovely staff and care continues to be efficient and brilliant. This time my dog developed an abscess and I rang for emergency appointment, lovely lady managed to squeeze us in, we were seen by a lovely staff and thankfully just needed antibiotics, whilst waiting to be seen I observed other pets that were seen on the day and it is visible without a doubt thar pets are seen by a Tully caring people. Thank u very much for your care..

An hour waiting as wasn't on system (second time)

I rang at 10.11am this morning as my own branch had no appointments and advised me to ring Ellesmere Port. A lovely woman answered and gave me an appointment for 5pm. This showed on app.

I arrived at 4:45pm and the lady said I didn't have an appointment and wasn't on system. I assured her that I was. After 5 minutes, the lady said she would book me in.

After nearly an hour of waiting, and being the only person in the waiting room on 2 occasions, I checked that I had been booked in. The other receptionist said I wasn't booked in or on the system. I understand mistakes happen, but why didn't anybody ask if I was ok/ who I was waiting to see? That is basic customer care. f I had English as a multiple language, or cognitive difficulties, this would have been very challenging situation to navigate. Also, sitting on those uncomfortable hard benches for an hour was physically difficult.

This is the second time I have visited and been waiting over an hour (last time, I waited 90 minutes!).

The receptionists are very polite and nice, and the vets are very good. I am grateful to have access to a non-for-profit vets with excellent levels of health care for my pets. They all work very hard indeed.

I do think that communication needs improvement.

I can’t rate them enough stars the staff at the Telford one are just beyond amazing! I’ve had two of my babies put to sleep with them they were amazing let me spend as much time as possible,
My babies boxes were back fast too! I currently still have one dog under them and they have done everything in their power to comfort her in loosing her best friends and helping with anxiety of being the only dog & her joint problems! They are always so amazing in every visit! The vets are so good! And listen to everything you say! Because my last baby shakes so much, they’ve done her injection in the car so she doesn’t become to stressed.

Extreamly disappointing experience and very poor service.
After registering my two rescue dogs at the surgery I made an appointment for a dental check for one of them.
I was told he would require a descale and polish and possible extractions if required.
I was given blood thickening medication for him and told to administer it two days before surgery and five days after to help with possible bleeding.
I gave him the medication two days before his arranged appointment and I arrived at 8am on the arranged day.
On arrival I was told the appointment they had booked was for a dental check.
I advised them that the actual appointment was for the surgery and as advised I had starved my dog and he was two days into a seven day blood thickening medication for dental surgery.
After a lot of head scratching the receptionist called a vet over and they deducted they had made an error. I received an apology and told a new appointment would be made as a priority.
Over four weeks has now passed and I have still not received an email or call and my previous emails have been ignored.
Needles to say I have lost all confidence in this veterinary practice and I will not be using them in the future.
Its very difficult to negatively rate a veterinary surgery as their sole purpose is to care for sick and injured animals, that being said as a responsible dog owner who feels really let down by this practice I feel it's in the interest of people to know my personal experience.
