Booked and paid for in advance with Booking.com . Arrived at hotel to be told they require details of my credit card or £60 in cash, if I could not produce either they would not let me stay !!! Reluctantly gave credit card details .. Horrible experience will not stay again !

Dear Leo Waller. We have replied to your initial complaint e-mail already. The Albion Hotel runs a tab system, which allows you to charge drinks and meals to your room account. For this reason we require a credit card imprint; this is also to cover any possible incidentals.
At the end of your stay your details would've been destroyed. We do not take any money from this card unless you leave without settling any tabs or if you cause damage to the room. We also allow a deposit of £60 as an alternative to storing your credit card details.
What's worrying is that if you refuse to provide either it could mean you're planning to do something as 99% of our guests are happy to oblige to this policy. This system is not unique to the Albion Hotel - most hotels, B&Bs and accommodation providers around the world require either a copy of a passport, or credit card details for any incidentals upon checking in.
Our company is fully complaint with the GDPR and are registered with the ICO.
It's a shame you couldn't add any positive details about your stay with us at the Albion, even it's unique location in Freshwater Bay, and I'm doubtful that this small incident would cause you to have a bad stay in our lovely family run hotel.
I would be most grateful if you could remove this review.
