Hidden Foreign Transaction Fee

Hi,
After I payed 880 USD for the air ticket, surprisingly I discovered a second transaction of 17.61 USD (foreign transaction fee) on my credit card. To me it is absurd to pay a foreign transaction fee when both the credit card and the transaction were in USD. After I have contacted Airtickets both in writing and over the phone, their answer was, "airtickets is based in Europe and does not have a physical presence within the borders of United States, however the prices are displayed in USD to enhance your booking experience". The fee was not refunded to me. What disappointed me is their unfair way of doing business using hidden fees. I want to let everybody know to help them make an INFORMED DECISION.

Airtickets is a ripoff company

Airtickets is a ripoff company. Avoid at all costs. I paid for the premium service at an extra 60 euro for baggage and they didn't provide it. I had to pay an extra 80 euro just to put my baggage on the flight!! when I addressed this they wafted around for weeks not addressing the issue. I called there "customer service " (international call) and was placed on hold for over 10 minutes with no connection. Needless to say i was never refunded. Its hard to think companies like this actually exist these days!!

Worst booking site ever

Worst booking site ever. I booked a flight and called the airline to confirm the day of the flight. Turns out airtickets had changed the day of my flight without informing me, flight was changed to day before, meaning it was considered a no show. Thankfully the airline reinstated my ticket for me. I was given no information about a flight change, and the airline said the change was made through the airport. Pretty awful that airtickets would call and change my flight without letting me know. I would have been very angry if I got to the airport tonight and realized they had changed my flight to yesterday.

They continually emailed me asking for passport information but didn't answer anything I sent them. They are impossible to contact and it looks like the link they keep sending me in the emails isn't even available anymore. Such a scam.

Such an awful company, I will NEVER book with them again.

Worst experience ever- non contactable if anything goes wrong

If you have a choice do not ever book with this sham of a company-

My flight was cancelled by the airline and the one I was subsequently booked on was also cancelled- granted this is not airtickets fault but... trying to call them from Beijing where I was stuck was then impossible. I have spent 20 minutes on hold with no responce and subsequent similar attempts yeilded no result. You are not provided with any email address on the website or any of the confirmation/ reciepts. The last straw is that the query form on the website does not work and will not let you submit a question.

I have spent aprox 900 euros on 3 flights and have no recourse / help in rescheduling/ refunding any part.

This is unacceptable - It seems that other people have had the same experince judging by the reviews.
If you have choice book with ANY other agent/ directly with the airline beacuse this company will do nothing for you

Can I give zero stars? One star is generous!

If there was an option for zero stars, I would give it to them because they are truly terrible. I was going to cancel a flight within 24 hours of my booking. The rules on their website says they follow the carrier rules (in my case, it was Alaska Airlines which allows free cancellations within 24 hours of booking), but when it was time for me to cancel they said the ticket is non-refundable, that the carrier rules don't apply to them. Moreover, they said they charge a change fee of $180, whereas Alaska only charges $125. They said I have the option of changing my flight with Alaska, which is a total lie, because I called Alaska myself and they said airtickets.com has blocked them from doing anything. What liars!!! And they say their service is 24/7, and yet when I asked to speak with a supervisor they didn't have one.
NEVER, EVER USE THIS WEBSITE.
I wish this site would one day fail and go bankrupt for payback for all the lies they have told people.

How to contact them?

Hello, unfortunately I have a very bad experience with them too. I need to cancel my booking and it is impossible to contact them. I tried several forms, e-mails, phone numbers but no answer. Did anybody here finally get through the phone machine? Any idea how to contact them?
Thanks a lot!

No Problems

After I purchased my tickets on their site I came across this list of reviews. The reviews were mostly terrible. I was very concerned. I purchased a round trip from Cincinnati, Ohio to Bangkok, 3 flights each way. Purchase was made about 60 days before the flights. I received my receipt within 15 minutes of booking and then later received a couple of emails asking window or aisle seats and then for passport information. Email communication was answered within 24 hours. I didn't contact them by phone. It looks like most of the bad reviews are from people that 1) changed their reservation or 2) had a problem getting their name correct on the ticket. My experience with them was very good.

Never EVER use them

Never use them, bunch of useless liars! Swapped the name and last name around on tickets and we were not allowed to travel and then told me the ticket was issued by the airline who confirmed their ticket numbers are not the same number sequence. Hold on forever for thento asnwer to be told you made the error. Certaily think i know my first name and my last name!!!

I do NOT recommend airtickets to anybody!

This is the most appalling experience I have had with any booking company ever! The guys say online that it is free cancellation/change. I have done this before through other agents, and when they said free cancellation, it meant that I would lose a bit of money for cancelling. For these guys, it means the other way round; You will lose the majority of your money and get some peanuts back.
When I asked why this was not clear on the page, they said it was. So I had plenty of time in hands to go through the process of booking again JuST to see if it is true; Well, it is not mentioned any where unless they let people know after they have paid for the ticket.
So frustrating really, we work so hard for them to take our money with a click.

These Reviews Worried Me, But it all worked out fine!!

Update: I made it to Tokyo! It all worked out fine!

Booked a return flight to Tokyo from JFK, NY a few days ago. After purchasing, all went well and received my confirmation/e-ticket all within a half hour.
After a few days I wondered if there was anything else I can do to double check on my reservation and see that I'm all set.
I decided to check some reviews to see how it all went for others and was met with this absolutely terrible score. My heart sank, I panicked. I saved for so long to be able to go see my love and I thought it was all ruined, quite like the rest of the customers.

I luckily came across a 3 star review, mentioning how he went to his airlines website, entered his confirmation #, and seen it was all okay.

I pretty much did the same for mine (ANA) and it seems I'm alright as well... These reviews scared the hell out of me and for now it seems that it's all well and I'm set to go!

If I happen to remember, I'll return back to this forum and update with 5 stars, assuming all goes smoothly.

Horrible service

Their system could not verify my booking and it was automatically cancelled. I had to wait a few days to get my money back, but they did not refund the full amount. I have been trying to get all my money back to no avail. Every time you respond to there e-mail somebody else replies. Horrible service.

Cannot contact them!

Cannot contact them!
Booking through Airtickets has been a dreadful experience.
1) During the ticket-buying process they deceptively advertise a sort of "insurance" for changing one's ticket, which LOOKS as though it will protect you from extra charges by the airline. Wrong--it only means you pay more so that Airtickets won't charge you for changing. But you find that out when you view the receipt.

2) They don't ask for your passport information during the ticket buying process, then send you emails saying that this information is necessary for your travel, but have no online outlet to manage your trip through their website, and all the email responses in respond to my inquiries are "do not reply to this email" types. It is almost impossible to reach these people.

3) The website is poorly organized and extremely slow to load.

Pay the extra, if you need to, and order tickets through a reputable company.

honestly this is the worst site to book …

honestly this is the worst site to book tickets i have ever came across in my entire life.. first they tell me your booking order is complete and then they tell me it is cancelled.. come on if you cant work like a company you better not be in business... they are telling me my money will be in account within 1.5 days.. it is so inconvenient .. if you knew my ticket would be cancelled due to security purpose you shouldn't have even accepted my payments... highly stupid site..dont ever use the site or else you run through numbeous problems

NIGHTMARE!!!!

DONT EVER USE THEM!!
I went through SkyScanner and they directed me to AirTickets to proceed my payment, after the process was done, I got a message "sorry, your payment didn't go through as the tickets are not longer available". At this point I thought I took to long, so I proceeded again and got the same message. I checked my credit card and I got the 2 transactions "pending". I don't know what to do?! Should I wait and see if they disappear? Should I call the bank and cancel my credit card?
Did some research and they are based in Greece, F&%^**%!! :(
