We booked a hotel through Agoda. The hotel was advertised as a spa with jacuzzi. At our arrival at the end of the check in we were informed the jacuzzi was broken and by the way, looking at the reviews of the hotel it had been 'broken' for a year. We refused the service immediately, left the hotel and phoned agoda for a refund so we could go to a different hotel with a spa. They said 'no'. As they refused a refund we contacted Amex for a dispute but they sided with Agoda and they ended up taking our payment for a service we didn't receive. Terrible company. Avoid.
Dear Ric,
I have tried contacting Agoda directly using the link you provided, but unfortunately I only reach an AI chatbot, and the conversation just goes in circles without resolving the issue. Therefore, I am writing to you here instead.
———————————————————
Thank you for taking my complaint seriously and for taking the time to review my case. I sincerely hope that no other customers have experienced, or will experience, the same misleading information that I was presented with.
While I appreciate your response, I am still very disappointed that a fee of 52% is being charged. In my view, this fee is a direct result of misleading information provided during the booking process, and therefore I do not believe I should be held responsible for these costs.
I am grateful that you are willing to refund the accommodation costs, and I genuinely appreciate this gesture. I also appreciate your willingness to review the additional fees associated with my booking.
However, I kindly ask you to reconsider and also refund the additional 52% fee, as I believe this situation arose due to circumstances beyond my control and based on information that was not accurate or sufficiently clear. Given the circumstances, I believe a full refund would be the fairest and most reasonable resolution.
Thank you again for your assistance and for reviewing this matter. I hope we can reach a fair resolution, and I look forward to your positive response.
Kind regards,
Laust Nielsen

Probably my worst experience trying to get a small refund from a property I booked where the owner could not let me into the property
Absolute waste of time this is a very arrogant person, I tried to book this with booking.com and only after I complained he actually called me with no apology and offered an apology.
He wasn’t in the area
So then I booked with agoda and I could not see the property until after i paid. And I am now trying to get a refund from agoda which is an absolute nightmare
Awful service and not a nice place to stay pretty much ruined my birthday

DONT DO IT!
I wish I could leave - 5 stars. This establishment if you can call it that is an absolute scam.
Immediately after checking into the hotel we noticed the lobby was extremely unhygienic (literally holes in the wall), dirty couch, floor, door, ect. There is no parking.
Once we got to our room, we realized the conditions were extremely unsanitary and an extreme safety hazard. There was hair/stains/dirt on every single towel and all of the bed sheets. Missing outlets. Broken furniture. A buzzing from the disgusting fridge. The windows didn’t close? They are strips of glass that stay open so you can hear everything outside and most importantly the front windows complete lock hardware was completely missing. We were able to open it from outside of the door, therefore us and our items were not secure. Not a safe neighborhood at all to be in that situation. The inside and outside of the hotel looked absolutely nothing like the pictures and we paid $340 to stay here for 2 nights.
We immediately packed our things, walked down to the desk and said that we refuse to stay here under these conditions and that it looked nothing like what we paid for. We were told we have to contact the third-party booking service and that LA Hotel Adventure would not refund us.
We tried to go through the third-party booking system “Agota” Trustpilot was wrong. Do not use them. They will not Advocate for you in any way. The hotel refused to talk to us and they refused to talk with “Agota”, who then said we can’t do anything unless the hotel gets in contact with them, Which they refused to do as we had Agota reach out multiple times, Every time they just said the hotel didn’t respond. Again, the hotel refused to talk to us or let us talk to their manager who is apparently there for 1 hr and said we have to go through the third-party. So we’re at a dead end because the hotel doesn’t want to give us a refund and will not comply even though we never stayed. Better Business Bureau here I come. I am now down $340 for a place that I did not stay. Save yourself.

Unfortunately, my experience with the Agoda app was very disappointing. The booking process lacks transparency, making it difficult to understand exactly what is included in the reservation. The cancellation policy is also unclear and presented in a way that is easy to misunderstand.
Another major issue was that optional extras I had selected disappeared during the booking process without any clear explanation, leaving me unsure of what I had actually purchased.
When I needed assistance, it was extremely difficult to get in touch with Agoda’s customer support. In situations where something goes wrong, customers need quick and accessible help, and unfortunately that was not my experience.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend using the Agoda app.

The company gives good rates on hotels, has a good cancellation policy, refunds are processed fast and instant confirmations.
Don't book with them and pay later as they will convert the booking to another currency and then apply huge admin charges so you end up paying 10% more than expected.
I spent 12 hrs talking to customer service that are basically useless that could only copy-paste answers than having actual problem solving skills
Repeating the same shit over and over for hours.
They're not even the cheapest out there, I'm taking my money else where cause of the shitty service
Booked two rooms paying £430 each for two nights in hotel luzernhof Switzerland via Agoda, room described as AC and a kitchenette but there was no AC or Kitchenette. They don’t want to take the responsibility or give a refund. Hotel team informed that it’s mis information given by Agoda. All the bad reviews of this hotel is hidden.
The booking was really simple, we don't go on the trip till my birthday in February, but know it'll be a lovely trip as it's to the area where my favourite artist came from .

Due to a problem with Agoda's website I WAS LEFT SLEEPING IN MY CAR! A 44 year old single and unarmed woman left sleeping in her car alone because they refused to fix THEIR MESSUP! I have been a faithful customer of Agoda was not only did I spend the night in fear for my life but I felt abandoned also. I spent 2 hours on the phone with them (the first agent hung up on me) and.i even sent them a video showing them how it was thier fault. They absolutely 100 percent did not give a f#%k and left my to sleep in my car where I was held at gunpoint and forced to give them my mother's wedding ring and other jewelry I had on. I could not / still can not believe how horrible of a situation I was put in for choosing to have faith in the wrong company
I booked a hotel for two nights but never received a confirmation email from Agoda. I created a client account but my booking was not shown. When there is no booking, there is no possibility to contact customer service because they always want to have a booking number. So I wrote to the hotel directly and they send me a confirmation for EUR 250. A few days before the travel date, Agoda deducted EUR 316 from my account. I never received an invoice from them. They have a big announcement on their website that they will beat any better price. I actually paid EUR 250 at the hotel (proof of hotel invoice available). I disputed the wrong withdrawal with my bank but it didnt work.
And I still cannot contact anyone from Agoda because there is no phone numner or email address. It's only possible if you have a booking number but my booking does not show. I should have read trutpilot beforehand- I will never ever book anything with them again!
Agoda employees are extremely lowlife and uneducated. They have no common sense none whatsoever. I just left a review about Agoda on TripAdvisor, Hotel. Com to recommend guests do not book through them. Very dishonest lowlife peoples.
Worst experience. Every time they skip my booking process and change prices. After submitting all the information and payment data, they inform you — "Oops, something went wrong" — and you have to start from the beginning. Or they just change the prices.
I am very disappointed with Priceline and Agoda’s reservation system.
On July 13 at 1:25 AM, a guest was still able to make a reservation for July 12, which was already a past date. Our hotel had already completed the closing process for July 12 and moved into the new business day of July 13. Because of this, the reservation was not properly received by our hotel system, creating confusion and inconvenience for both the hotel staff and the guest.
A booking platform should not allow guests to book a previous day after midnight without a clear warning or proper handling. The system should consider the hotel’s local time and daily closing procedures.
This issue caused unnecessary problems at the front desk. Priceline and Agoda need to improve their reservation systems to prevent this type of situation from happening again.
After Using there service for discouted Rates for 5 bookings and staying at the same hotel for 3 weeks I rush to make a booking for me and my wife and kids to rest and realize they have me booked for sep insted of july. I call the hotel and she says no problem she will cancel it but agoda says they will put in for cancelation and it may be 30 days before I get my money back. I told the Rep that I just need to change the date but she said she cant and I will have to wait. I get a email at 1 am that says the hotel wants to penalize me 50 percent to cancel which I know is a Lie because I spoke to them already. Its pathetic that these 3rd party hotel agencies are allowed to auto future date your reservations that they think you may want to stay while your searching for a hotel in the hopes you will make a mistake because you see a cheaper price but the dates have been switched. Then when you try to correct it so your kids will have a place to go then you get this unfortunate outcome which I will be glad to Let the apropriate people know. this is how taxpayers are treated after spending thousands on hotels and buisenesses. They are allowed to steal from customers and would rather take money away from families with no accountability even when it says free cancelation.
My experience with Agoda was extremely disappointing and, honestly, one of the worst experiences I’ve had while travelling.
I was on a solo road trip across India. At around 9:00 PM, after a long day of driving, I opened the Agoda app and selected the “Nearby” option because I urgently needed a place to rest for the night. The first hotel shown in the list appeared to be nearby, so I made the full payment immediately. Only after the booking was confirmed did I discover that the hotel was actually 200 km away from my location.
I immediately contacted Agoda customer support. Instead of helping, I was kept on hold for over 30 minutes, even after repeatedly informing them that my phone battery was running low. There was no resolution. I requested to speak with a manager, but the representative kept repeating the same scripted response, saying they had “tried everything” and could not transfer the call. The lack of empathy and professionalism was shocking.
With no other option late at night, I booked another hotel through Agoda. Unfortunately, the hotel was in an unacceptable condition. It was extremely dirty, poorly maintained, and felt completely unsafe. It was nothing like what was advertised and was not a place any traveller should be expected to stay.
I contacted Agoda again. A customer service representative named Satyam asked me to email photographic evidence and assured me he would call me back within 30 minutes with a resolution.
That call never came.
After that, I couldn’t even get back in touch with Agoda’s customer support. Despite paying for two hotel bookings, I was left stranded and ultimately had to spend the night sleeping inside my car on the roadside.
As someone travelling alone across India, this experience was stressful, exhausting, and completely avoidable. Agoda failed me at every stage—misleading location results, poor customer support, broken promises, and no accountability.
I expected a global travel platform to stand by its customers, especially in situations involving traveller safety. Instead, I was left alone with no support.
I cannot recommend Agoda based on this experience, and I sincerely hope they improve both their app and their customer service before another traveller has to go through what I did.
