If I could give this Wells Fargo branch…

If I could give this Wells Fargo branch zero stars, I would.

My elderly mother has been a longtime Wells Fargo customer. She received a phone call from someone claiming to be from Wells Fargo, who told her that her account had been compromised and that she needed to wire nearly $19,000 to another bank to protect her money. Believing she was following instructions from her bank, she went into this branch and requested the wire transfer.

Not a single employee stopped to ask basic fraud-prevention questions. No one asked why she was wiring such a large amount, whether this was normal activity for her account, whether anyone had instructed her to make the transfer, or whether she personally knew the recipient. This transaction was completely out of character for her banking history.

For comparison, when I made a wire transfer at my own bank, Chase, I was asked multiple questions specifically designed to identify scams. They wanted to know who the money was going to, how I knew them, and whether anyone had pressured me into sending the funds. That’s exactly what banks should be doing to protect their customers.

We later learned that my mother had fallen victim to a sophisticated scam. We immediately returned to the branch, completed all of the required paperwork to try to recover the funds, and also filed reports with both the local police and the FBI.

What was most disturbing was the branch’s response when I asked why no one had questioned my mother before processing such an unusual transaction. I was told, “These things happen all the time.” If that’s true, then it makes even less sense that they aren’t taking additional steps to protect customers from exactly this type of fraud.

Since then, the branch has been unresponsive, unhelpful, and has shown little sense of urgency or concern.

Banks have a responsibility to educate employees, recognize obvious red flags, and help protect vulnerable customers from increasingly common scams. While no system can prevent every fraud, asking a few simple questions could have prevented my mother from losing nearly $19,000.

Based on this experience, I have completely lost confidence in Wells Fargo’s commitment to protecting its customers. I would strongly encourage anyone considering banking here to think carefully before trusting this branch with their money. If you have elderly parents or family members who bank here, I would be especially concerned about whether they would receive the guidance and protection they deserve

Wells Fargo is horrible

Wells Fargo is horrible. Opened a business account with them and couldn’t even sign on to their online banking platform. I just closed the account. Opening a Chase account.

Wells Fargo just removed one of its best online features. Time to look for a new bank.

I’ve been a loyal Wells Fargo customer for years, but removing the online spending report feature is absolute nonsense. It was easily one of the most useful tools on the entire platform for tracking personal finances.

Downgrading customer tools with zero real alternative shows complete disregard for user experience. I used to recommend this bank to family and friends—I definitely won't be doing that anymore. Looking closely at alternative banks now. Reconsider this change, @WellsFargo.

Wells Fargo checking account experience

I am reviewing Wells Fargo only for the banking experience with a free checking account. I have had this checking account for many years. There is a convenient app to deposit your checks with from mobile phone. I can transfer between this bank with other banks reliably. Also, they offer free notary service, which I used several times. There are several ATM locations in my city to withdraw or deposit money.

Sure, it's saving account APY is abysmal, but that's probably normal for a brick-and-mortar bank. There are much better choices for a savings account online.

Two things I would really like from Wells Fargo.
- Free checks. Sometimes you have to pay bills with a check in the US. Wells Fargo checkbooks are quite expensive.
- More convenient physical branch hours. There is only one branch in my city that opens on Saturday, and only for a few hours in the morning. Average folks have to work on weekdays, so it's hard to go into a physical bank when you really need to.

I would not recommend opening a card with this bank

I opened a card with this bank and have had nothing but problems. I tried to pay my apartment rent with it on a Saturday, but the payment wouldn't go through. When I contacted the bank, I was told they don't work on weekends and that I'd have to call back on Monday — even though there was no notice or explanation in my app.

On Monday I spoke with Jim and Daniela, who informed me that my card had been blocked "for some reason." Their solution: they'd mail me a letter that takes 7–10 business days to arrive, after which I'd need to fill out a questionnaire, send it back, and only then would my card be reactivated.

I've never experienced anything like this with any other bank. The lack of communication, the inability to resolve a simple blocked-card issue quickly, and the absurd multi-week process left me extremely dissatisfied. I would not recommend opening a card with this bank.

Holding My Funds With No Resolution

Dear Wells Fargo, when does “under review” become a resolution?

I’m a small business owner, and for weeks Wells Fargo has been holding legitimate business funds that were deposited into my business account.

From day one, I have fully cooperated. I provided my LLC documentation, DBA registration, payment confirmation, ACH details, and every document requested to prove the funds belong to my business.

Instead of resolving the issue, Wells Fargo has repeatedly pushed back the expected closure date of my case.

Yesterday, I was informed that my case has been extended again—this time from August 3 to August 17.

I’ve spoken with customer service, Executive Customer Relations, and Enterprise Complaints Management. Every department acknowledges my concerns, but I continue to receive the same response: “Your case is under review.”

I have now been told Wells Fargo is waiting for a Letter of Indemnity from the sending institution. My question is simple:

If that document cannot be obtained, what is Wells Fargo’s resolution process?

Will my legitimate business funds continue to be held indefinitely?

I’ve asked this question multiple times and have yet to receive a direct answer.

I’m not asking for special treatment. I’m asking for transparency, accountability, and a resolution.

Small businesses depend on access to their operating funds. Delays without answers have real consequences.

I’m asking Wells Fargo leadership to review this matter and provide a clear path forward instead of another extension and another generic update.

I opened up a checking account on a promotional ad

I opened up a checking account on a promotion that I double checked with an agent, twice, assuring me that after 90 days of direct deposit, they would add the promotional money to my checking account which never got added and it's been over 5 months. I just knew in my gut that they would come up with some BS as to why I didn't receive the promotional funds even though I called every month to make sure all was good. Do not trust Wells Fargo on any of their promotional ads or their live agents, they lie, their promotional ads are lies and soon as I figure out which bank to leave to, I will for sure close my account out with Wells Fargo. This Bank lies, do not open an account with them.

I see a lot of negative reviews, but my experience was positive

I see a lot of negative reviews, but my experience using Wells fargo for my business, Chris McElroy SEO Agency, I've had nothing but a good experience with Wells Fargo and I feel that many of us who had a positive experience fail to speak up and write a review. Usually we think of writing a review when we have a complaint or bad experience. I wanted to make sure I give credit where credit is due.

I went to two different locations after…

I went to two different locations after receiving a postcard to open a business account. The first location the woman was so arrogant and asked me "do you have a business?" She then told me I had to get the state certification and license sent to her email. I run my own mobile locksmithing business and deposited $9,000 in 3 days. I decided to go to the second location hoping that the staff believed in their motto of "The most important business is courtesy!" I waited for 15 minutes and all the staff looked up at me but not one of them said hello or can I help you? Or "I will be with you in a minute". I walked out of there.

Don’t try moving!

I opened a wells fargo credit card and had no isssues until moving to florida. Every transactions gets declined. I have called customer service 5 times to get it resolved and each time they say there is nothing they can do and I will just have to call to get it unlocked after transaction. They’ve never had people move? I don’t have my phone on me 24/7 to be calling the bank every time myself or my husband needs groceries or gas to go back and fourth with the most unhelpful customer service known to man. I asked if transactions in florida could be approved without my verbal consent every single time and they straight up said no i’m out of luck. Going to pay off the balance and cancel the card. Very frustrating as a consumer that this is my experience with them after i’ve moved. I guess if you have a wells fargo account, don’t even think about moving!

If I could give a minus one I would

If I could give a minus one I would. Wells Fargo bill pay..using their app, instead of selecting Bill Pay, I inadvertently used Pay your card. There was a card automatically in the app. I paid $1200.00 and later tried to track it. The app allowed me to apply a payment to a very old, closed account to a business I had owned. I have spent multiple hours both online, on the phone and in person trying to recover this payment and have not been able to do so. Wells Fargo keeps saying to contact credit card services, who then directs me back to lost stolen services. Over 2 months later and 5 claims, all closed with no resolution other than contact the "other" department I'm stuck with this loss.

I have a credit card through Wells Fargo. I scheduled a payment and they decided not to take it out. When I tried to get an answer they just tried blaming it on my bank even though they could see they never even tried to use the authorization. I escalated it twice and received a answer that it was my fault both times with never an answer to why they cancelled the authorization. I have lost all trust in them doing what is right when this is the highest level you can go and they just avoid the actual question and blame the customer and their bank.

I would not recommend this bank to…

I would not recommend this bank to anyone. My personal information was compromised, and my account was hacked. I notified the bank about the breach. I later discovered the information available publicly on the internet after being contacted by a hacker via phone. Wells Fargo failed to notify me of the significant data breach. The representatives demonstrated a lack of compassion and refused a mobile deposit for a check I had deposited three times in the past on a bi-weekly basis. They declined further assistance, which has hindered my ability to obtain a replacement from the check issuer. The bank's response was indifferent. Consequently, I am closing my account and have ceased my direct deposits.
