Beware of Wells Fargo
I opened my everyday checking account with Wells Fargo about one week ago. So today (all day long) I put in an order at Amazon. I had plenty of money to do so. I have been trying to get the order through for 7 hours. It keeps being cancelled. So I called Wells Fargo and they tell me I didn't complete the security that Wells Fargo asks if this is really you. I completed ALL the steps until they tell me that I am done!! So I called Amazon, and they said it's the security not going thru at my bank. My gosh! I've never had to answer all the security at any other bank I've used before. I can't even use my card for anything. Too bad I transferred all my direct deposits already. I'm going to have to transfer my money as it comes in, back to SOFI. I just wanted a physical bank to visit. Wells Fargo was a HUGE HUGE mistake. Beware!!!!
Wells Fargo is the worse bank ever!!
I absolutely hate their ignorant customer service reps. They do not know anything and that goes for all 5 I spoke to with different answers. I tried to file a complaint and the woman that answered the phone was just as ignorant!!! I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN and I DO NOT recommend them to anyone!
Shady Company
Became aware of a fraud issue to my rewards account. Sent around in circles for a week then just received a letter that the case is closed. I do not believe any investigation took place. Apparently rewards points (cash - 2%) do not have federal protection so they refuse to reimburse. Stay away from Welks Fargo
Worst bank ever !!!
Worst bank ever !!!!
I am so fed up with wells fargo, im losing my apartment now thanks to them. I have been a customer since 2004. Never had any serious issues and then starting yesterday my account became unusable. I mean every debit card purchase gets declined, every atm withdrawl gets declined, it wont let me send money on zelle nor make transfers. I have spent since yesterday a total of 11 hours on the phone with wells fargo and customer service as well as the security department keep reassuring me " the card is good to go now, you won't be having any issues" and then ? Yeah it gets declined again. I even tried to use the atm with them on the phone and they say everything is fine on their end yet everything i attempt gets flagged as suspicious from the account. And now I can't pay my rent.

Most recent problem
I have had MANY problems with my Wells Fargo accounts, but this is the most recent. A little over two weeks ago, one month after I had to open a new Wells Fargo account because of fraud, my account was frozen by Wells Fargo for no apparent reason. This caused two checks (one for payroll fees and one for child support) to be bounced back to my payroll company. The total of the two checks were less then $300.00, but in order to bring my payroll account back into good standing, I had to pay $275.00 to the payroll company, plus Wells Fargo charged me a $25.00 wire transfer fee. Wells Fargo tried to say maybe my payroll company had the wrong account number, no, they had already taken money out of this account for the past three weeks. Wells Fargo said maybe it was fraud, again, no, I spoke with my payroll company and it was legitimate. The bank representative and the bank manager could not do anything to help me get my $300.00 back because of two bounced check from an account that was frozen by Wells Fargo with no warning and for no apparent reason. They did however make sure the “freeze” was taken off my account, since no one could tell me why the account was frozen in the first place. Over two weeks ago they put in a ticket for “someone” to get back to me within 24-48 hours regarding getting my $300.00 back that I am out because of a mistake on the part of Wells Fargo. So far, over two weeks later and silence from Wells Fargo. This whole incident is so typical of Wells Fargo and their lack of Empathy for small businesses like mine. I have NEVER received a straight answer on any of my problems and was even hung up on by a fraud department manager because they didn’t want to answer any if my questions. I might add I have always been very courteous whenever talking with their representatives, but it has not helped in the least. I am still waiting.
I entered the bank thinking I would…
I entered the bank thinking I would just take care of an issue with an account. Showed up at 12. After I checked in, the agent told me she checked me in but, I forgot my i.d. I had to run back home which was 10 mins away. The agent Gina was kind and was not the problem. After I returned, I sat down waiting my turn. Amy approached me telling me the agents are at lunch and it would be 2 hours before someone can help me. I couldn't understand her explanation because 2 hours before someone can help us. Her attitude was steady, but stern. She asked if i wanted to come back another day. I said No because I already paid for a babysitter. So I declined. She just sat there. Staring. I again said ok. She got up and left, she smelt so bad. Shit, & sweat smell lingered. I sat in the bank waiting over an hour. A couple of bankers came over to me, asking if i been helped. I said no. So she tried to help me but, I heard Amy say no, go to lunch. She did it on purpose becauseshe expectedme to leave and come back but, i had all ready paid a babysitter, so i refused and she was not happy. Everyone was getting helped before I did. As I sat there paying attention, I noticed all the bankers chilling in a corner. While I was told to wait 2 hours. Luckily, Kayla helped us. Amy at the Kingman Az on Stockton Hill needs to go. Please tell that women I understand big women sweat but, God Damn she smelled. I had to turn my head while she talked to me.
Well Fargo is quickly frankly the worst bank I’ve ever experienced
Well Fargo is quickly frankly, pretty pathetic.
I opened an account in 2014. But closed it shortly after. Last week (in 2026) I decided to open it back up to manage finances for house bills. NOTHING has gone smoothly so far and it reminded me why I hate them so much.
I opened it again on 8/13/26 and sent over the $25 to open the account. It’s been a down hill spiral from there. It’s only been a week.
This company is based around THEIR needs only, not the customers.
Explain to me why WE have to wait for them to send us our debit card pin? Not to mention, why they have to send it separately than the card??? We should be able to set the pin OURSELVES.
I went to the branch because of course, I had issues accessing my bank after sending the $25. Funny, right? The banker called customer support to get my verification code and we were on hold for more than 30 mins - it’s a shame bankers don’t have a designated line for employees to call in to resolve stuff like this. They’re literally mixed in with regular customer calls and placed in queue with them.
Not even an hour after I got home, I couldn’t access my account AGAIN and had to call in to get the verification code once again. Not only did I have to wait another 20 minutes for anyone to pick up the damn phone, they didn’t give me a code, instead they told me I had to wait 3 days to get my debit card and it will lift the restriction on its own. If I need to access my account within the 3 days, I have to call in each time to get it. Pathetic.
I got my card yesterday (8/18) and had to freaking call in AGAIN to activate my card because no other options were working! Now I’m still waiting for my pin to come in the mail so I can do a simple update for it.
Then this morning (8/19) I tried connecting my non-wells Fargo account to transfer money between the two and of course…. You guessed it…. I had to call in AGAIN to figure out why it’s now not allowing me to transfer anything at all after successfully sending $350. The rep said there’s nothing I can do because this happens “ALL THE TIME” and it will resolve itself. She said “there are additional verification that we have to do right now….” And when I told her “tell me what verification information do we need to do to resolve this right now.” All she said was “there’s nothing to do right now at this time. You have to wait until it resolves itself”. Wtf? Make up your damn mind! By the way, I recorded the entire conversation and sending it to corporate but I’m pretty sure they won’t give two craps about anyone but themselves.
This company is absolute garbage and best believe I’m closing my account AGAIN and never turning back. I’m also going to make sure my families accounts are closed with them too.
After the 2016 scandal they pulled, I can see why this company STILL has a terrible reputation and why so many people still hate them.
I hope and pray they go out of business or become bankrupt soon.
Go to Varo, Bank of America, or Truist (if you’re in Florida) - they treat you a hell of a lot better and never have any issues when it comes to crap like this. Varo is my main bank and I absolutely LOVE them! Had them for over 8 years and never once had to contact customer service to resolve any issues and I used my accounts every single day. They’re literally the best bank I’ve dealt with in my 35 years.
Wells Fargo - you guys suck. Do better. I’m definitely closing my account today.
3D Authentication NEVER goes through.
I had fraudulent charges on my credit card twice in the past few months and needed a new card both times.
Now Wells Fargo requires “3D Authentication” for any online purchases but NEVER actually authenticates any purchase! So I am being penalized because their security is abysmal.
I cannot use their credit card for anything but in-person purchases. I had to spend four hours on the phone with Wells Fargo and each of 5 different reps insisted it was not on their end that the failure to authenticate was happening - call my merchants. Finally, I wised up and I did begin calling my merchants and they ALL (4 of them) told me it was Wells Fargo’s “3D Authentication” that was failing repeatedly! It is a Wells Fargo issue!
Then because I talked to Wells Fargo five times, five different reps, they then did a HARD PULL CREDIT CHECK ON ME!!!!! That’s on my credit until 2028!
Thank goodness for Experian alerts!
What a fiasco and what uneducated reps Wells Fargo had, oh my. I am going to pull my money and accounts from them after about twenty years.

Everything I deposit a check into my business account it will be cleared after 4-5 days. Worst bank!
Losing credibility in some of the staffs
Griselda, Fernando, Christian a supervisor🙄??? Kyle a supervisor🤨🙄🙄🙄? They are horrible. All of them lie providing esencial information clients need to know, except for Christian, with all due respect he acted like he is medicated. The only one who chose she is doing her job was Imelda. If you were doing your work right, you wouldn’t be that coward of faking the call in on and off or refusing transferring customer to a real senior manager or supervisor. In conclusion, my complaint was not heard because Cristian faked non understanding of what I was saying. I asked what part you didn’t understand, he was like ah ah eh and paused for 3 seconds and began again bubbling.
Horrible customer service, seems a common problem.
I had an extremely disappointing experience with Wells Fargo customer service that ultimately resulted in me ending both my business and personal relationships with the bank.
I called Wells Fargo simply to request information about a credit limit increase for a specific business purchase. I am a disabled veteran with a hearing impairment and use an assistive device to communicate by telephone. Instead of showing basic professionalism and making a reasonable effort to communicate with me, the representative was rude and openly complained about the inconvenience of my using the assistive device.
What bothered me most was the complete lack of interest in understanding why I was calling or helping me find a solution. The representative made virtually no effort to address my specific situation. Instead, in a monotone voice, he repeatedly read what appeared to be a prewritten statement about system wide issues. There was no meaningful conversation, no attempt to explore alternatives, and no effort to accommodate the communication needs I had clearly explained.
This experience was particularly disappointing because I had been seriously considering migrating substantially more of our business banking and assets to Wells Fargo based on the positive relationship we had developed with our local branch. One customer service interaction completely changed that decision.
Following this call, I cancelled my Wells Fargo business credit card and closed my personal accounts. Wells Fargo lost the opportunity for a much larger business relationship because of how one of its representatives treated a customer with a disability.
I also intend to document this experience through the appropriate complaint channels, including submitting a disability access complaint to the U.S. Department of Justice regarding my concerns under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Customers with disabilities should not be made to feel like an inconvenience because they require assistive technology to communicate. I expected professionalism, patience, and a reasonable effort to help resolve a straightforward banking question. I received none of those things.
I will not consider Wells Fargo for my personal or business banking needs again, and I will be sharing my experience with others.
WELLS FARGO IS THE WORST BANK IN…
WELLS FARGO IS THE WORST BANK IN HISTORY. THEY RECENTLY "RETURNED" AN ONLINE CHECK THAT WAS CASHED. THIS IS ANOTHER MAJOR ERROR THAT THEY COULD NOT EXPLAIN. WE'VE BEEN CUSTOMERS FOR 15 YEARS WITH THIS HORRIBLE BANK. WE WOULD CHANGE IF IT WERE NOT SO DIFFICULT TO DO SO. PREVIOUS PROBLEMS WE'VE HAD INCLUDE TWO FRAUDULANT "WITHDRAWLS" OF OVER $5000 EACH AND THE SAME $300 CHECK CASHED TWICE!! IN NO CASE WOULD WELLS FARGO GIVE US ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THE CRIMES. THEY NICKLE-DIME YOU ON SERVICES THEY SHOULD JUST PROVIDE FOR FREE. HORRIBLE BANK. AVOID!!!!
Great customer service!
Great customer service every time I have to report hacked credit card. Recenly the representative was able to arrange delivery of a replacement card within one day.
Unacceptably rude phone support — zero professionalism
I had a terrible experience with Wells Fargo's phone support just about 5 minutes ago. The representative who handled my call was extremely hostile, short-tempered, and visibly took her bad mood out on me. She sounded completely overwhelmed or agitated, but regardless of what personal stress someone might be facing, there is no excuse for taking it out on a customer.
Instead of listening or trying to help, she was impatient and treated the entire interaction like a burden. A major bank should hold its representatives to a much higher standard of basic courtesy and self-control. I am sharing this so others are aware of the poor level of service you might run into when calling support.
Terrible terrible customer service!!
Terrible terrible customer service!!! Multiple phone calls, very long wait times, talking to unintelligible foreign people, talking to millennials and none of them have ANY IDEA how to do their jobs!!!! Please please please walk away from this bank as fast as you can!!! ARGGGGGG!!!
shitty customer service
shitty customer service. they put my cards in the wrong name which takes another month to correct. using their app is a pain in the ass and customer service is genuinely incompetent. terrible bank.
Absurdly Frustrating
Needed an easy, no fee checking account so opened one at WF but had to move money because WF billing cycle doesn't equal 1 month. It all seems absurd but checking is only free if you have 1 direct deposit per billing cycle. I only get paid once a month-- on the last business day. On my July statement I got a $15 maintenance fee because WF's billing cycles are 30 days, so my fee got applied on July 30 since my direct deposit didn't post until the 31st. So...when a month has 31 days, I have to pay a maintenance fee on my account.? Seriously? When I called about this, I was told that it shouldn't happen too often because a lot of times the last business day of a longer month doesn't happen on the 31st because of weekends. Really? That's the answer? This 30-day billing cycle seems designed to sneak maintenance fees out of customers, but whatever the reason, I wasn't going to keep my money at this bank when truly free checking is easy to find elsewhere. When I went in to close my account, I was told the tellers could not close accounts, and I'd need to make an appointment with a banker and what a surprise -- there were no appointments for several hours AND I had to go online to book one-- the teller could not do that for me? I have/had accounts at BMO, Key, Chase, and 1st. None of those places require an appointment for something simple like closing an account. Luckily, I was able to call their 1-800 number and close that way, but this bank seems intent on making easy things unnecessarily complicated and frustrating, so I'm not going to be one of their customers ever again.
