I am so impressed with wattle & wombat

I am so impressed with wattle & wombat, their customer service is superb & their products are just beautiful. We ordered the kettle & the chopping boards. Sadly the kettle had a small leak but I contacted Olly & sent a photo, they had a new one on the way to me in no time. It was so nice to actually deal with a real person, something that is very rare these days.

Really lovely utensils

Really lovely utensils, very well made and a solid shift to non-tox in the kitchen. It did take some getting used to with the spatulas obviously not as flexible as silicone but have now mastered using them! Possibly only "complaint" would be the soup ladle size, would be much better if they doubled the bowl size of the ladle!

The customer service is wonderful, one of my utensils arrived with a chip in it (must've been knocked in postage) and they kindly reposted another when I emailed through the photo of the damage. Will happily be recommending them to family and friends, thanks!

Definitely not dishwasher friendly (father accidentally put the tongs in), but was easy to re-nourish the wood with MCT coconut oil and came up beautifully.

Great product and customer service

The wooden utensil set is wonderful. It looks great and all the utensils work great and wash up really well, even after using on foods that have stained the plastic utensils I previously used.
I had one utensil develop a crack and, after I let the company know, it was replaced quickly and without fuss. Absolutely great service.

Looks modern in my kitchen

I ordered the chopping board set with the holder. I had a few issues and reached out to customer service and they were very helpful and responsive. Shipping takes a week which is not too bad. The wood used in the boards (acacia) is lighter than other woods I've had (merbau) which is one of the reasons for choosing this brand. The size of the boards are just right for us, the large one is not too big or bulky. I bought some mineral oil and am enjoying learning to care for them.

Best customer service experience

The customer service is unparalleled. I never write reviews but felt inclined to so more people can support this business. Not only are they trying to help the general public health by reducing everyday plastic consumption, they are also so kind, helpful and passionate about what they do. My kettle was faulty and they were so quick to replace it with absolutely no hassle and even had it shipped out immediately despite being a Saturday. Regardless, the kettle is so fabulous and stylish that multiple people have commented on it and I can’t wait to keep using it for years to come. One of the best shopping experiences I’ve had! Special mention to Olly for being all of their help throughout.

Wattle & Wombat Staff Members and the products are awesome to use also no more plastic residue and the staff (Olly) have been so helpful towards me also using the kettle bringing back my childhood memories and I have always wanted a kettle similar to what my Nana’s used to have. They are better than electricity kettle as the water is more hotter last longer when drinking hot drinks.

Bad shipping experience and lack of follow up

Disappointing experience so far. I don't have my product yet due to repeated delays with shipping. I ordered the item 14 days ago and it still hasn't left the warehouse. Wattle&Wombat have failed to keep me updated on the delays and I've had to chase up twice now. The order still hasn't been dispatched 4 days later, even though the CS email said it would be shipped immediately.

Hey Alice,

We're so sorry for the experience you've had. You're absolutely right, this isn't the level of service we aim to provide. As you'll see from our other reviews, we genuinely care about our customers and always do our best to provide a positive experience, so we're disappointed that we've let you down here.

We completely understand how frustrating it is to have to chase updates, especially after being told your order would be dispatched immediately. It sounds like our communication should have been much better throughout, and we sincerely apologise for the delays and the mixed expectations.

If you're happy to reach out to us at hi@wattlewombat.com.au with your order number, we'll personally investigate what has happened with your dispatch, provide you with a clear update, and do everything we can to make this right.

Thank you for your patience, and again, we're truly sorry.

Chinese factory made, very misleading

Bought the chopping board and utensils set expecting them to be nice, smooth and waxed. Wrong.
Firstly they are not Australian, it all came from China. Under the Chinese parcel bag and Chinese shipping tags the packaging looks as advertised at least, but very misleading, based on the website and ads I thought they were made in an “small business” in Australia.
The wooden boards look nice but rough as guts. I wiped them down and accidentally washed half the stain off, along with small bits of wood that came off too, not a bit of wax or oil on them to begin with. I will need to sand down and seal them myself, which is ridiculous considering the price, if I wanted to do this much work I would of chopped the tree down myself too.
Utensils - the spoons are smooth but the strainer holes haven’t been cut out properly and half stuck. Everything else is dry and in desperate need of a wax

UPDATE 12/08
Definitely read the reply, it answers all my concerns and comments on the business practices. I did email wattle&wombat and it’s turned my opinion of the business around, they gave me feedback and info about the wood and have also sent replacements of everything that I wasn’t 100% happy with. Coms with them are super easy, the customer service is 10/10. I will do another edit if anything goes wrong with the replacement, but if you don’t see another edit the replacements are top notch

Reply from Wattle&Wombat

Hi Hannah,

We're incredibly sorry to hear you've been left feeling disappointed. Reading your review, it's pretty clear we haven't met the high standard we set for ourselves, and for that we're truly sorry.

We'd just like to clarify one point for anyone reading. While we're proudly Australian owned and operated, we've never claimed our products are made in Australia. Wattle&Wombat is still a family run business run by myself and my wife, and we're incredibly grateful that the support of our customers has allowed us to grow beyond Australia into the UK and Canada.

To support that growth, we partner with our own specialist contracted manufacturers in Asia who produce our products exclusively to our specifications and quality standards. For us, manufacturing overseas is about practicality and scalability, it doesn't take away from our Australian roots or the values our business was built on. We don't believe quality is determined by geography, but by the standards you set, the materials you choose, and the quality control you maintain. That's something we're constantly investing in and improving.

That said, what you've described regarding the finish of the timber and the utensils is simply not that. Our boards are not stained, so what you're seeing isn't stain washing off. The boards are finished with food-safe mineral oil, and during the first wipe it's normal for a small amount of excess mineral oil and natural timber tannins to transfer to the cloth. However, the timber should never become rough, excessively dry, or shed fibres. Combined with the machining issue you've described on the strainer spoon, it sounds like you have received a defective batch.

We'd really appreciate the opportunity to make this right. Please email us hi@wattlewombat.com.au with your order number and a few photos, and we'll happily replace both the boards and the utensils free of charge. That's our promise. We strive for nothing less than products we're proud to have in every customer's kitchen.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. Honest feedback, whether positive or negative, is invaluable to us because it's how we continue to improve, no matter how much we grow.

We're truly sorry your first experience with us wasn't the one we wanted you to have, and we hope you'll give us the opportunity to turn it around.

Whistle away !

Whistle away !! never miss that coffee you wanted to make 2hrs after boiling the kettle!

I purchased a pink whistling kettle online from another retailer… I loved it …. For 3 days until it turned cream and black… I was desperately looking for a replacement as I’m so over these electric kettles that burn out AFTER the warranty’s expired…. I looked at other stainless steel kettles to go on my stove as painted ones are fantastic if you don’t plan on using it ..EVER ! And I just couldn’t find something I loved !!! Untill ….. I came across this little gem ! The kettle is stainless steel with a beautiful wood handle that you only have to flick the latch and TADA 🎉 the spout opens … no more burning my fingers. I was sold, I added to my cart and paid , and in under a week it was on my door step , under 10 minutes it was on my stove top! The whistle on it is loud you won’t forget about the kettle being on for that much deserved coffee. Or tea, which ever boils your kettle 😉.
