We engaged Walmsley Contracting in 2025 to build a concrete sleeper retaining wall to replace a dilapidated wooden one on our steep block. We could not be happier with the result. After a long period of discovery engaging with a landscape architect, engineer, several potential builders we were recommended Walmsley Contracting. Our only regret was we did not simply go with them from the beginning!

Ross is a true professional and got us started with his contacts for tackling the Building Approval process. Once approved, the team got stuck into the work. Jack was a master machine operator and retaining wall builder, and Holden a trusted offsider. They showed up on time, worked in often trying conditions, and kept to schedule. They kept the site safe and tidy over a period of 4 weeks. Additional team members assisted with the job as needed, always polite and engaging.

The end result was three integrated retaining walls of 26m, 12m and 11m length built to the engineered plans and fully compliant with Council regulations.

Since the work finished in late 2025, we have had several builders and trades people comment on the quality build of the retaining walls, in addition to the neighbors also being impressed with the work.

We highly recommend Walmsley Contractors to anyone considering building a concrete sleeper retaining wall on their property.

We recently contracted WC P/L to replace / remove our existing backyard timber stairway with beautiful Sandstone Steps (12) Project at our residential property.
Ross and his team were terrific to deal with, great pricing, high quality workmanship with great equipment and provided excellent customer service.
We had a large fig tree to remove first, then we had poor / wet weather however they kept us informed at all times and worked with us to get this job completed on time / before our garage / carport construction commenced as required.

Ross and his team did a big job for me consisting of a mass site clearance and ground reshaping, replacing a broken retaining wall with a new block walls and building a terraced random rock retaining wall that included two sets of stairs. They completed the job within a timeframe I expected (a couple of months) and given the amount of rain that fell during that time were amazingly prompt. I found the whole team had a great work ethic, the price was reasonable and within what I estimated the work would be, and the end result is fantastic.

The team at Walmsley Contracting did a stellar job of the new retaining walls at my property. From concept to finish, the team were a pleasure to deal with, gave sound advice, and turned our back garden from an unusable mess (with dilapidated and crumbling old retaining wall) into an incredible space - opening up potential to create a great entertaining area and a usable back yard. The new retaining walls look brilliant, and they have really transformed the back garden space - I am a very happy customer and I would highly recommend anyone in the market for a new retaining wall to speak to Ross and the team at Walmsley Contracting!

Ross and his team are the best and we are so grateful for their help! After getting started on our land we realised the original plan wasn't going to work however Ross was able to find a solution that is even better than the original. He was efficient and professional (sending photos and video updates when we were travelling for work) and did an excellent job! We couldn't recommend enough and have already shared his contact with our neighbours!

Ross is a great bloke despite - being a Richmond supporter. Having said that, he and his team are the most professional and knowledgeable operators that you will find. They are excellent value for money and take obvious pride in their work.
