The busy, historically important and popular Tollerton Airfield land is heavily contaminated with deadly poisons from the 'bash, burn and bury' disposal of wartime aircraft. But this review isn't about that.

This is about the forced closure of the very busy community resource, 'Chocks Away Café' which received international publicity and sorrow last weekend, and its importance to the crew of the Air Ambulance, which itself will be made homeless as part of Vistry's long term greedy plan to destroy this part of English history.

The air ambulance flew 3 very seriously ill people into Tollerton for transfer to QMC just this last week. Ironically, the last one was in the late afternoon of the final day of Chocks Away's service to these noble folk.
Chocks Away itself being the first very much loved and vital part of this important facility to become a victim of Vistry greed, avarice and bullying.

These dedicated pilots and medics were the final customers of this irreplaceable refreshment facility, taking time to sit, relax and refuel their bodies, souls and spirits after the tension and trauma of the emergency.

That's THREE lives potentially saved in one week, thanks to the facilities at Tollerton. Where will they be able to recharge their human batteries from now on?

Vistry will have blood on their hands and will be ultimately answerable to God for their inhuman greed and avarice. 😠 😡 😤 🤬

Don't bother doing your usual cut and paste whitewash in response. Your actions speak louder than your weasel words.

How about trying to pacify your shareholders by finding the integrity to donate this part of History to a charitable trust and enjoy the publicity accolades and financial benefits.

Forcing the closure of the popular Nottingham City airfield without even having planning permission for their development of over 1000 houses. Not only are they putting a dent in the future of STEM education in the region, and removing a valuable hub in the region… they are planning on building on a sit full of pollution and ‘forever chemicals’ left from the airfield’s history as a WW2 air base. Complete disregard for the thousands of people who use this airfield for business and pleasure.

Why would you build on Tollerton Airfield, potentially unearthing dangerous and toxic materials from its use as a military airfield in WW2? You’ve pushed businesses out when you don’t even have planning permission. Terrible.

Looking for a builder who truly embodies the phrase "community spirit"? Look elsewhere. Vistry's acquisition and closure of Nottingham City Airport is a masterclass in how to alienate an entire town. They've effectively said, "Your jobs? Irrelevant. Your local businesses? Collateral damage. Your children's connection to a historic WWII site? Who cares? Your protests? Noise." When the press inquired, they were likely met with a beautifully crafted statement that said absolutely nothing. If you value your community, your job security, your children's heritage, and a developer with even a shred of social responsibility, then Vistry Homes should be at the very bottom of your list. Their actions are a stark reminder that some companies only see cash signs, not people.

Stripping areas of their assets / resources. Tollerton Airfield provides an area for the people of Nottingham to learn to fly. It provides business / employment for local people. It provides a free place for children to explore with parents whilst allowing their imagination and future prospects to be nourished.
Building on Tollerton will not only strip the local population from a vital current and future asset but also that of the wider UK.
Vistry group have a moral responsibility to protect these assets and not be building on these sites.
Closing business to create a better planning application is morally wrong and will not benefit the local population.
Your replies to these messages are very generic and don’t address the issues at hand. Regardless of if this was your plan to do this build, the fact that you ever had the intention to take this action when you purchased the airfield is simply wrong and you should be ashamed of your actions! Pick better sites and those that have little impact on the UK and its local residence! Airfields are vital uk assets that once you destroy are not replaced and need protecting for current and future generational use.
There is lots of opposition to this plan and it is growing as more become aware of your intentions .

Despite the outcome of other people’s properties, my experience with this company have been nothing but outstanding, my property was to the standards that I expect for my first home, I couldn’t be more pleased with the efforts put into details around my house

I have a Bovis home that had several issues when new. Most recently, I have been impressed with the customer service from Vistry. My home is under the Vistry Northern Home Counties region and I have dealt directly with Mandy and Sandra Washbrook who have always taken time to help. Their responses have always been professional and issues are resolved quickly.

I read bad reviews, and try not to believe them. But, this is what happens, I ignore the bad reviews and other people telling me Bovis homes are bad, and when I buy one what do I experience. POOR QUALITY HOMES. Poorly constructed, they get any one they can to work on the houses, cheapest labour possible (probably). The house are poorly finished and the specifications of the house is poor standard as well. I mean they are making a lot of money here. We now have a warranty issue, guess what, they tell us to go to nhbc. nhbc say the issue is not covered in their policy. They are saying poor installation of any thing in your house is not covered unless it fails within the first 2 years. Hang on?! you did not build my house properly, its faulty installation, and your saying your not taking responsibility! Terrible!

They are absolutely the worst builder out there ,changed their name from bovis to vistri to hide just how bad they are . Have waited 12 years for them to finally make a start in putting our house right .sewage constantly flowing into the house .pipework condemned ,holes cut into the walls and left for years .they only painted the squares they cut out so now we have a patchwork quilt house ,still toilet in main bathroom not functioning.gardens been dug up and totally destroyed.if you want evidence of bovis homes / vestri houses before you buy come and visit our disgusting 4 bed detached house built by these cowboys been going on since 2013

Customer service has been excellent with Vistry, Amy who has dealt with my calls or emails has always been very efficient and followed up on any snags I have raised. Always pleasant and polite.

The Air ambulance, the police, the public and several aviation businesses use Nottingham City Airport at Tollerton to relax, refuel and train. Many go on to fly with international airlines. Once an airport is closed, they don't get replaced. So, where will our young people train to be pilots? What opportunities are we creating for them? The emergency services use it to refuel helicopters between flying critical patients to QMC! It is cruel that VistryGroup are forcing lifestyle businesses to leave Nottingham City Airport. Just so they can claim it is brownfield and build on it. They don't have any planning permission to do that yet. Let's hope they don't get it and the airport is left alone to thrive for generations to come! Build somewhere else! Build anywhere else! Build around it! You don't need to build on a popular airbase with runways and a quirky British cafe!

Greedy developer forcing small business to close and destroying our heritage and amenities for future generations with the closure of Tollerton airfield without planning permission even being approved for their housing estate of low quality overpriced box homes.

Immoral company forcing an essential local airfield to close. They are forcing people out of work and removing essential infrastructure for emergency services. They have no mind for the potential loss of future pilots, loss of wildlife habitat or the historic significance of this site. They don't even have planning permission to build their housing!

I’ve recently moved into a new build property built by vistry group in Bedworth, Warwickshire.

I’ve lived here since early January 2025 and after only 2 weeks of moving into the property we had a MAJOR water leak in the bathroom upstairs under the shower, this was confirmed by a professional plumber & he stated that a main pipe which carries the used shower water wasn’t connected which was a fault of the plumbers hired by vistry group & this consequently after being used flooded the bathroom & all of the surrounding areas including the carpet in the bedroom next door and the carpet on the landing, not only upstairs but the water leaked through the living room ceiling and flooded my living room, damaged my sofas & tv but most of all it damaged the expensive flooring which I had paid £2,200 for just 2 weeks prior to be fitted with invoice to prove.

For the last 6 weeks I’ve relentlessly chased vistry group for answers and compensation for the damage their plumbers poor workmanship has caused in my new home, I’ve been passed from person to person with no one providing any clear answers or solutions to the permanent damage caused, not once has any management contacted me to help resolve this matter but instead I have evidence of COUNTLESS calls which I’ve made myself to get answers, the managers now don’t answer my calls as if they know it’s me so want to avoid me and avoid paying for the repairs.

For the last 6 weeks my life has been a massive stress and misery and this is all down to vistry group, I even stated to them that I have 3 very young children of which 1 is vulnerable due to learning difficulties, not only this but I’ve been paying full rent for a new build house damaged by water down to lack of due diligence from vistry groups employees.

The group sent someone out 2 months after the date of the flood to assess the damage, by then the carpets had been dried aswell as all other items of furniture and they acted surprised as to where the damage was? Yet they didn’t send someone out within the next working day or working week when the damage was visible and carpets soaked, this was a financial tactical move by them to say that there’s no damage and not to pay out.

Now to further add to my stress & misery caused by vistry group they’ve asked me to go out of my way, use my own money to travel to 3 different flooring companies to get quotes, this damage was caused by them so they should be the ones retrieving 3 different quotes and taking the workload on.

Please avoid this company at all costs, they’re cowboys who don’t value the health and safety of their customers and like to pass blame onto everyone else.

I will be taking legal action against this company to be compensated.
