Unnecessarily stressful

Everything about renting from Viaggiare was unnecessarily stressful.

Our flight was scheduled to land at 20:45 so we booked the car for 21:30. The flight was delayed and we weren't able to leave the plane until 22:15. Fortunately the rental desk was open until 23:00 and the booking email stated "Service outside of business hours is available by request and for an additional charge."

While waiting to leave the plane, we called the rental company to let them know that there was a chance that we wouldn't reach the desk before 23:00. The man who answered the phone could not have been more unhelpful if he had tried. Not only would he not arrange a later pick up, he insisted that if we weren't there by 22:30, we would not be allowed to pick up the car and would not receive a refund.

My partner sprinted through the airport, left the luggage behind, and reached the rental desk at 22:31. As he saw her running towards the desk, the man's first words to her were "Hurry up".

Despite the pick up being advertised as "in terminal", it was actually a 10 minute walk to the car which was parked in the furthest possible car park, almost 1km away from the terminal. When we got there, the car had not been cleaned and was very dirty. If I had found any damage, I would have been unable to report it because it took so long to reach the car that the rental desk had since closed.

When returning the car, we were told to park it in the same car park. The car park was completely full. Every space was occupied and cars were parked all the way along the access roads as well. We then had to make the 10 minute walk through the unshaded car parks in 38 degree heat.

Abandoned at the airport with a small baby

Booked a rental (in January) via VIP cars for pick up and drop off at olbia airport last Sunday. Specifically picked a car hire company that was on the airport as travelling as a party of 9 with a small baby. We went to Viaggiare and after queuing for an hour were told there was no booking with them. Called VIP cars who said the booking was with them. The staff at Viaggiare refused to speak to the agent on the phone and said there was. L booking even though I had the email confirmation and the voucher. The staff were rude an s unhelpful. I tried to explain we had a small baby with us who was overheating but they weren’t interested and asked us to leave their premises so they could serve other customers. Ended up having to go to europcar and hire two separate cars as they did not have a car big enough for us all, the baby overheated and was poorly Sunday night and we had a totally stressful start to a holiday and so far no sign of any of our money being returned. Absolutely would not recommend.

I wouldn’t recommend this car hire…

I wouldn’t recommend this car hire company.
They don’t accept certain credit cards.
They charge extra fees.
The lady at the office was very rude.
They brazenly cancelled my booking and my sister’s, even though she hadn’t asked them to. The booking was made through DiscoverCars. Give them a wide berth.

€177 mandatory insurance charge on a €150 rental..

booked and prepaid a rental car in Bari through Discover Cars for approximately €150.

When I arrived at the rental desk of Viaggiare, I was informed that my Revolut Ultra debit card could not be used for the security deposit. The only alternative offered was to purchase additional insurance from the rental company for €177 — more than the cost of the rental itself.

As I had already travelled to Bari and had a prepaid reservation, I felt I had no realistic option but to pay the additional charge if I wanted to receive the vehicle.

The company later pointed to its terms and conditions, stating that customers using a debit card must purchase one of their additional coverage packages. While this may be contractually permitted, the customer experience was extremely disappointing. An unexpected mandatory charge exceeding the rental price, presented only at pickup, is not something I consider transparent or customer-friendly.

The car itself was fine, but the rental process left a very negative impression. I would strongly advise future customers to carefully check the payment card requirements and potential additional charges before booking.

I returned the vehicle today via the…

I returned the vehicle today via the key drop box and have just noticed that part of my deposit has been withheld. However, I have not received any invoice or explanation for these charges.

I called the company twice to ask what the alleged damage was. I was told that an email had supposedly been sent to me, but I never received any such email. Despite asking twice, the staff refused to explain the damage or the charges over the phone. As a result, I still do not know what I am being charged for.

There were already several issues when I collected the vehicle. I was supposed to receive it with a full tank, but it was almost empty. I returned it with more fuel than it had when I received it. In addition, there were pre-existing damages that had not been documented. Fortunately, I took photos of all of them.

The front of the vehicle was also still dirty and covered with dead insects, indicating that it had not been properly cleaned before handover.

Most importantly, I have photos and videos proving that I returned the vehicle without causing any damage. I have already contacted Check24 and submitted a formal complaint. I am now considering further steps to recover the money that was withheld without proper justification.

Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company.

Worst rental Service

Worst rental Service. Real Scammers.
2 weeks later, still no answer or reaction on any mail, regarding the issues the car had.

Very bad experience

Very bad experience. We had already paid for the car online. The reservation was made in my wife's name, but nowhere was it clearly stated that only the person named on the reservation could pick up and drive the car.
We arrived at 10:30 PM with our 4-year-old child, and they refused to give us the car. The employee was very rude, unhelpful, and showed no understanding of our situation.
Because of this, we were left without a car late at night and had to find another solution with a small child. This is unacceptable customer service. I would not recommend this car rental company.

A scam

A scam. We rented a car in sardinia. They claim damage which we didnt do. We even had a film with proof. Starting a legal procedure, but cost a lot of time and energy. Will never rent a car there.
