In 83 years this is the worst company…
In 83 years this is the worst company I've ever dealt with. The latest is that I had to spend 2 hours to get access to the website due to their phone verification system not working - first 30 minutes with chatbot, then 1.5 hours on the phone with rep. Then the website wouldn't let me sign up for the plan I wanted, which is allowed in my state but I guess not in Utah. So now I have to wait weeks to sign up so I'll be reimbursed.
Horrible customer service
Booked a phone appointment time on their website for November 6, 2025. I called at the time they requested. I was put on hold 10 minutes, then I hung up. This isn't the first time. Every time I try to contact them, it's the same scenario. I'm retired and the company I retired from insists that we use Via Benefits for our Medicar policies. The company puts X amount of $ in an HRA fund, managed by Via Benefits. If we don't use them for our insurance needs, my company will withhold the funds. I wish they would just give me the funds and let me handle it myself. I get severe adjada when having to deal with the incompetent Via Benefits!!! Worst company I've every dealt with.
Stay Away If You Can
I was forced to use Via Benefits by Northrop Grumman in order to receive an RHRA. It worked somewhat OK in 2024 for 2025 benefits (I would have 3 starred it then), but this year (2025) I received no communications from them for the 2026 enrollment. Zero, zilch, nada, nothing, none. They don't have any information for my 2026 HRA amount either. If you aren't forced to use this disaster of a company then don't.
Worst customer service
Went to another provider a year ago with the understanding of losing a benefit. Had enough of their miserable customer service who rarely answer the phone, tell you what you want to hear, lie, rudeness, etc. It was with it. On hold now for 15 minutes to ask about a company benefit. About to hang up. Not with it.
I have been forced to deal with this…
I have been forced to deal with this insurance scam company for several years. They administer a benefit from my previous employer, Huntington Ingalls Industries, that reimburses my Medicare premiums up to a certain amount each year. I have to purchase Medigap coverage thru Via to receive the benefit. I loose approximately half of the benefit because Via will only sell policies from companies that pay them a high sales commission. So I pay roughly 30% more for a policy than I would if I went straight to the Medicare website. So for part of the year I get reimbursed for the premium I pay, and the rest of the year I pay a higher premium that I would have if I did not have a reimbursement benefit. So about half of my "benefit" ends up in pockets other than mine. Unfortunately, in the insurance industry, most kickbacks are legal. Makes me wonder if someone in HII is getting an Illegal kickback.
Terrible Service
Called via benefits to help change my Prescription Drug Plan for 2026. Called and was told they would call back to assist me in 160 minutes. After 3 1/2 hours I got a call the people started talking and then was disconnected. Was expecting them to call back but they never did. I am a retired Chevron employee I expect to contact Chevron about this crappy service
Horrible company to do business with.
I had an FSA (Flexible Spending Account) with Via Benefits for 5 years & I didn't even know it because they never sent me ANYTHING via mail or email regarding it. The FSA was set up through my retirement company. Their customer service has been awful.
Terrible
Terrible. Just plain terrible. So tired of hearing about the issues with their systems and the on-Hold times (and music) are insane. Even when they "keep-your- place-in-que" to call you back (two hours later) the line disconnects immediately. Their employees would rather put you on hold while they take a bathroom break, maybe walk the dog, transfer you into the unknown, or just plain disconnect your call because they aren't trained, or somebody else, some other department will have to address the issue. Look around you; the tallest building in every major city is an insurance company. There is plenty of money to be made for them but no "Help" to be had for the consumer.
I would give them less than one star if it was possible
I would give them less than one star. The phone representatives are rude and more interested in arguing with you then helping you. In addition they had no clue what I was talking about. All I wanted to know is what to bring to an appointment as a future ICHRA customer. Rude, unprofessional, and not even a little knowledgeable. No way to contact them other than by phone. Call at your own risk.
Only ONE option on insurance?>! CRAZY
Turned 65 in July. Had about 20 options for Medical Advantage insurance with varying degrees of Co-pays/Maximum Out of Pocket/Pharmacy Coverage/PCP in-network etc. Made my selection online and everything appeared to go well. Since then, PCP and 90% of their doctors left the practice.
Go to look for new insurance, and VIA Benefits only had one (1) option and they did NOT have my new PCP. WTF! Isn't the whole point is to show insurance options with my new PCP? One listing is NOT an option! I hope the Union reevaluates its association with Via Benefits.
Worse company ever
Worse company ever, rude customer service. They never accept receipts u submit and they ask you to pay for charges back, card is suspended and they are saying wait 7 days. Asked to be transferred and she said no like she owns the company. They take your money and never do what they supposed to do.
Via benefits, easy full service
I have used via benefits for almost 15 years to coordinate benefits for my disabled sister who is retired from the University of California. I normally feel that I can set up her Medicare supplement plans easily, but as the landscape changes in 2024 and 25, I want to make sure I'm getting the best for her. Via benefits advisors take care of all the comparison, actually will create and file the applications for you, and will follow up to make sure your applications have been received and approved. They assist with any problems along the way and are available through most of the sign up period every hour that I'm awake. I know the phone representative probably aren't paid that much, but they are invaluable. I definitely give via benefits the highest rating.

I signed up for dependent care not knowing it was only for child care not doctors pharmacy etc. this was not mentioned when I signed up for the account and I called and spoke to someone and they made it seem like it would be approved for doctors. Highly dissatisfied and felt like my own company wasn’t looking out for me. My kids are 11 and 12 years old too old for daycare
SCAM
This company deserves a zero star rating if that were possible. We will NEVER use this service again. They reject all of your doctors invoices and tell you that you are required to pay back the money you already paid?? Crazy scam card. Never again!
My card has been suspended due to the…incorrect information that was given to me
My card has been suspended due to the fact that I received wrong information from 5 customer service agents then when I finally got some one in the level two office I was told that. it would be at least 10 days to have my card reinstated I had to sent additional prescriptions . This never told by any one as a matter of fact I was advised to ignore CS emails and not to worry. I have been inconvenienced and I explain that due to their misinformation that's not right they basically saids Tought! Not to mention I was on the Q for over an hour. This company is a joke
I WOULD GIVE IT A ZERO IF I COULD
I WOULD GIVE IT A ZERO IF I COULD. I HAVE BEEN TRYING FOR 5 MONTHS NOW TO CLOSE MY DECEASED SISTERS ACCOUNT. I HAVE CALLED 5 TIMES AND KEEP GETTING THE SAME ANSWER "WE MAILED THE CHECK" NOW I AM TOLD A CLAIM WAS NEVER SENT. ARE YOU FN KIDDING ME. AND THEY ARE CHARGING ME FOR STATEMENTS I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED. THIS COMPANY IS A JOKE
Awful customer service
Awful customer service! Unable to get a simple answer after reaching out on the app and calling 3 times.

My 92 years old mom had $600+ in insurance claims and I submitted in Dec. 2024. My mom received the check, but accidentally clipped the bottom of the check when she opened it. I requested VIA Benefits to cancel the check and re-issue on Feb. 10, 2025. They said they would reissue the check within 4-6 weeks. 8 weeks later, still never received the check. No they are asking me to resubmit the claims. This is unacceptable! Terrible customer service.

I have used Via Benefits for years and never had a problem. Today, April 4th, the website is down so I have to wait to turn in my expense. Dianne Mcmahan

I requested reimbursement which never came through and had to call repeatedly. One of the reps (Debbie) told me to withdraw funds and she would cancel the claims. The claims were not cancelled and I got paid twice and have to account for both of the payments which I cannot.
