I'm happy with my experience so far!

I'm happy with my experience so far. Most of my teachers are professional and reliable. There is no problem so far with the video and audio stability.

I would like to have a flashcard feature added, though so I could use it to memorize new words.

I have to say though, the android version of Verbling could use some work.

This site has the worst technology

This site has the worst technology I have ever encountered. I should have known when the first thing they say is don’t use Safari. I was very excited to have lessons but the tech would not work. The second clue was that there is a full page of things to try when the tech doesn’t work. This is 2022. Video works very well. I talk to people all over the world via zoom, and Facebook messenger for free. I remember how bad skype was - and this is way way worse- there is no excuse for a paid service with crappy technology. Keep looking this is just a waste of time.

Hi Kate,

we're sorry you feel this way!

As explained directly via email, we're more than happy to assist you but we're not exactly comparable to messenger or zoom as we don't use the same functionalities.

Best website to learn a new language!

Best website there is to learn a language. I've been taking lessons on Verbling for 4 years. The tools they provide in their integrated system makes it easy to do the homework, take notes, write on a PDF, and ask questions to the teacher. I also rarely have connections issues, especially in the last 2 years none. Of course, my amazing teachers are the main reason why I keep using Verbling! 5/5

The application fines the student if he cancels the lesson in less than 12 hours. In this case, if the teacher canceled the lesson after it began, no penalties are applied. If you do not like the teacher, then you cannot return the money for the purchased lessons. I don't recommend this app.

Oops!!

I inadvertently, through mu own mistake, bought many more lessons than intended. When I explained it to the folks at Verbling, and asked for a refund (which I thought would go against their normal policy of only giving credit for future lessons) they very quickly agreed and arranged for the refund. After two years taking lessons through Verbling I am VERY satisfied. Thanks Verbling staff.

I had a poor experience of Verbling…

I had a poor experience of Verbling personally. For two reasons. First, even though I was submitted homework after each lesson, my teacher either couldn't see it, or did see it but didn't do anything with it. Either way, I didn't get any feedback on it. Second, I bought a package of ten lessons, of which I completed six. I decided against using the other four, as I didn't feel I was making progress, and had some family-related issues which meant I didn't have enough time. Of course, I then found out that Verbling don't offer refunds, only credits. What sort of company doesn't offer refunds? I guess the kind that is not too worried about repeat business. I won't be using them again anyway.

We're sorry you feel this way.
We do inform students that all purchases on Verbling are final. When you buy classes on Verbling, they are yours to keep and cannot be refunded to your original form of payment.

However, purchased classes can be cancelled and refunded as Verbling credit. If you do not wish to complete the remainder of your classes with your particular teacher, you may cancel your classes for a 100% Verbling credit refund, which you may then use to book with a different teacher.

We're here to assist if you need any help.

I was having trouble with the settings on the audio on Verbling flashcards. I requested support and Milena responded quickly. It was a little tricky finding out exactly what the problem was but Milena stuck with it and resolved the issue. I much appreciate her patient and successful response.

Fantastic platform, tuition and customer service!

Verbling is a fantastic platform. The online classroom feature works very smoothly and my tutor provided excellent tuition and materials. I think it is great value for money, and fantastic that the booking calendar and timings are so flexible. I took lessons for about 4 to 5 months and learnt a lot in that time, I was always eager to book my next lesson the following week.

Besides a great website, the customer support service at Verbling is excellent. They answered me very quickly and provided all the answers and solutions I needed. I would highly recommend this website for all people interested in language-learning!

no longer safe

Unfortunately, verbling doesn't feel safe anymore. Recently they started an entire purge of teachers if they don't comply with their new invasive background checks made by a third party without giving any knowledge as to how this really personal and private data is processed and who it is shared with. Accounts of the teachers who didn't comply were deactivated, posts on the teacher's forum where people were just asking honest questions about this situation were deleted and many people who were desperate enough to comply also lost their accounts (and often their main source of income) because the website of the company making the checks had various technical issues that didn't allow some people to complete them. I've read a few heart-wrenching pleas of teachers about to lose all of their students either because they didn't feel safe with a random company acquiring all their data or because they couldn't complete the check due to technical problems with the website or because they lived in countries where it might not have been safe to do so. Some teachers based in the UK asked if they could simply complete a DBS check but that of course didn't satisfy verbling either. Not only does this shady practise affects teachers' lives but students as well, because - surprise! - none of them were given refunds! Without any notice they were just given their verbling credit back and had their classes cancelled without any explanation when their teacher's account was deactivated. If they are learning a less popular language there are often no other teachers available so they can't transfer that credit to someone else and even if they can it's still highly unethical not to offer a refund. Considering how much verbling pushed students to buy 10 or 20 hours packages many students lost hundreds of dollars that they can't get back. What's most upsetting about this whole situation is how completely unnecessary it is - I've never heard of anything like that happening on any other teaching platform. I have no idea what happened to Verbling but the way they currently conduct their business is ethically questionable at best.

Thanks for great service!

Hello Verbling,
I'd like to take a minute and thank Verbling for the great service that it gives to us. There are several other companies, sometimes with great incentives, that contact me. However, I decided to stay with Verbling for the support I'm getting. More specifically, In the past few weeks, I had some issues with the billing and cancelations. I contacted Melina and she did a truly satisfying job by addressing all of my problems. She is very responsive, very positive, and helps customers very efficiently. To me, this support is more important than the incentives and "coupons" that other language companies keep sending me. Melina, thank you! And Happy New Year!
Best regards,
Khosrow Keshani
