False “no cost refinance” advertising.

Find a different mortgage lender.

Everything was fine with our first mortgage. 8 months later our loan officer reached out for a free refinance. We told them we were going to wait until rates dropped further but he insisted it would cost “nothing but time”. They depleted our tax escrow account ($12,000) to reduce the principal of the loan then slid in $12,000 in closing costs. On paper, it looked like there were zero costs because the loan amounts were the same. It actually cost us $20,000+ to refinance. On top of this, they didn’t even show us this math until we asked AFTER our tax bill came in delinquent due to our escrow account being depleted. We NEVER authorized them to use our property tax savings in this way, and had we known this upfront we would have declined the refinance altogether. We have submitted 3 CBPB cases and they keep omitting information. They finally admitted the loan officer mislead us but only reimbursed us for the $860 in out of pocket expenses. We are officially taking them to court. GO THROUGH A DIFFERENT BANK.

The amount they charge for commission…

The amount they charge for commission and service fees in my traditional IRA account is outrageous! A minimum of $16.95 Commission and a $5 service fee! I did not pick this bank, it was a rollover from an old 401k. And there are plenty of $0 commission brokerage accounts so this is a bit of a head scratcher. Needless to say I will never do any more trading with them. And as soon as I'm able to transfer it to a different brokerage you better believe I'm going to

Do not Care about Customers!

They are equal to Bank America in helping customers in need. I was in car accident and could not work. Refused to help lower payments during recovery.
So not a customer caring company. Do not care just want your money.
I had a wonderful experience with Wells Fargo, Citi, and Discover.
Bad experience with Bank America,US Bank and BMO!
So if you like companies that help customers in need this is not one of those companies!!!

THEY DO NOT USE THE ROUTING AND ACCOUNT…

DO NOT USE THE ROUTING AND ACCOUNT NUMBER!! Had my credit card payment attached. Had it decline twice. Called my credit card place and they said it came back as fraudulent. Called the us bank and they said they don't see any payments trying to be made period. Then informed me that you CANNOT use your account and routing number to pay for bills. Stupidest thing ever. I hate that my work switched to these cards. They are the worst. Nothing but problems since I've gotten it. I wish I could give them a zero.

frustrating applying for one of their credit cards

Despite having a strong credit score, there was no instant approval. Instead, I was told to wait about a week for a decision by mail. When the letter finally arrived, it did not contain an approval or denial, only a request for additional documentation to prove my address, such as a utility bill.
I promptly faxed the requested utility bill and received confirmation that the fax was successfully delivered. After that, nothing. No email, no update, no acknowledgment.
When I called customer service to follow up, I was placed on hold for 35 minutes. Once I finally reached an agent, they had no record of the fax and no idea how to locate it, even though I had proof it was sent. I was then told I would be transferred to another department. I stayed on hold for an additional 60 minutes before giving up.
This is an unreasonable and exhausting process for something as basic as applying for a credit card. The lack of communication, poor internal coordination, and extreme hold times make the experience feel dismissive and disrespectful of customers’ time. There are far too many other banks that manage this process efficiently to justify dealing with this level of dysfunction, who do they think they are? Go out of business, totally ridiculous.

I would not recommend U.S. Bank to anyone expecting a smooth or professional credit application experience.

Deceptive Banking - US Bank

I had four accounts with this unscrupulous bank for which they closed without notice AFTER I reported that my accounts had been compromised and that the transactions were not mine. I was the victim of identity theft in 2022 and as horrible that experience was it pails in comparisson to what I am dealing with now. No access to my business account, no access to my savings or personal account and they have reported me to chexsystems and Early Warning Services Consumer Reporting!! In essence stealing my money, preventing me from accessing my money in the closed accounts and now blocking me from opening another business account. All of this two weeks before Christmas. They are the worst bank I have ever dealt with over twenty years. They need to be shut down for their deceptive practices and I have filed with the OCC, Federal Reserve, BBB and CFPB. Run away from this bank, they set you up to fail.

Very difficult bank to work with.

Unexpected charges. Mishandled information. Failure to get back to me after promises by 3 people on three issues from 3 different departments. Processes and people are so siloed it takes many calls, transfers and steps and you still don't get anywhere. No ownership of issues. No problem-solving, just handoffs to another department. No response when I offered detailed notes and suggestions for improvements. They just do not care.

Scam bank

I cancelled my account at a branch end of Oct, 25. The agent said everything is cancelled.

However, I found out a month later there's a "reserve line" account, and it's charging me penalties fees without notifying me. I accumulated $123+ in unknown penalties, for no reason.

I called many times and was not able to pay on the phone or online.

I had to make an external transfer from another bank which incurred an additional $30 making the loss to $153

This is a scam. Will never do business with US bank ever again.

US Bank customer service is really bad

US Bank customer service is really bad. They don't use overseas call center, which should be a plus, but their customer service staff are all cold script readers who does not solve any problems, just defer to Research who would write you letters. Any simple problem will take forever to hear back from them.
I ordered some e-gift cards, for Thanks Giving, which never arrived. After several calls over 3 weeks, I still have not received these electronic cards, and worse yet, no one knows what happened to them. They refuse to credit my account and only told me to wait for letters of explanation.
I asked to speak to a supervisor, a woman named Shantasia came up and she was unbelievably condescending and arrogant. She give me the same run around when I called the last couple of times. She refuse to identify herself other than her first name, insisting that she is the one and only Shantasia out of 70,000 plus employees working at US Bank Corp.
I have never had experience with banks this bad. Stay away from Us Bank Corp.

Bad vehicle lease process

I leased a vehicle from U.S. Bank, and the return process has been extremely frustrating.

1. Phone-only communication. The only way to contact them is by phone. They refuse to use email or in-app messaging, claiming it’s not “secure.” Okay, I guess phone call is indeed safe for them because it leaves customers with no written record and no way to verify mistakes or misinformation.

2. Terrible automated phone system. You are given only a few seconds to enter your full lease account number, which you must memorize perfectly in advance. Even if you get through the automated system, you may be told the office is closed. If you do reach an agent, you often have to go through the entire verification process all over again.

3. Unprofessional and unhelpful staff. Agents frequently put me on hold for very basic questions and repeatedly transferred me back and forth between the lease department and the payment department just to make my lease-end payment.

4. Broken autopay handling. I paid off all remaining lease payments early in order to return the vehicle ahead of schedule. The agent told me they could not close my account until the vehicle was officially returned, but also promised I would not be charged again. To be safe, I even removed my bank account from the U.S. Bank app. Despite this, I was still charged another monthly payment the following month.

US Bank abruptly closed five legitimate…

US Bank abruptly closed five legitimate business accounts and one personal account with no clear explanation and no prior notice. I spent an entire day on the phone, being transferred between departments and put on hold, only to be disconnected after waiting over an hour. This has completely disrupted my week as I now have to rearrange multiple payments and urgently find a new bank. Extremely disappointing experience.

The salespeople are trained in bait and…

The salespeople are trained in bait and switch. I asked for an account with protection from overdraft fees, and the salesperson signed me up for the program called overdraft protection, which did exactly the opposite of what I requested. I had more fees than I even overdrafted. I called corporate and was told that I had to go to the branch and deal with it myself. I went to the branch. I was told that it was due to recurring payments and that it couldn't be changed unless I locked my card. I was also told that I had to speak with the cashier who originally signed me up for the account and let her know about the issue. WHY is contacting THEIR EMPLOYEES to make corrections MY RESPONSIBILITY? Once I had that correction made, I locked my card so the recurring charges couldn't be made, but I still received the fees the following month. I called again and was informed that the only way to stop the charges is to stop recurring payments, and I had to do that myself. Why wouldn't the first two people give me this option? I asked if there was an account that did not have overdraft fees. I want an account where, if there is not enough money, the bank declines the transaction. Is that too much to ask? I started searching other bank options and found THEY DO HAVE AN ACCOUNT THAT HAS NO OVERDRAFT FEES!!!!! It's called Safe Debit. They only want people in accounts they can take advantage of them in that's why. Once my direct deposit hits and I am even in the account, I am closing it!

U.S. Bank CC - Do Not Apply!

I recently applied for a U.S. Bank credit card offering 24 months of no APR. Although I was approved immediately and maintain an 825 credit score, I was issued an unexpectedly low credit limit of $500. Upon requesting a credit line increase, I was informed that the review process would require 7–10 business days.

Given my consistently positive experiences with other major issuers—including American Express, Chase, Capital One, and Bank of America—this outcome appeared atypical and unnecessarily cumbersome. Consequently, I elected to close the account promptly and communicated my concerns to customer service.

Based on this experience, I would advise prospective applicants to exercise caution and consider institutions with more transparent and accommodating credit policies.

THIS is a US BANK Review

THIS is a US BANK Review. Not specific to this location (where I have never been).
I paid my full credit card balance (over $2,000) and requested account closure, but three weeks later I got a letter saying the payment “wasn’t processed” and that a reversal fee was charged. I’ve used the same bank account for a year with no issues. Customer service couldn’t explain what happened or how to fix it.
The U.S. Bank mobile app barely works; constant login errors make it almost unusable.
Very disappointing experience with U.S. Bank overall.

Wow. Worst bank for small businesses EVER.

I have had my small business account with them for more than 30 years and am retiring. I can't WAIT to close my account. They lack in nearly every respect for service. It galls me that as a Minnesota resident, I've had to pay part of my taxes to build them a football stadium with their name.
