Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 70 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumers consistently explain that getting necessary medical and dental claims approved is a major uphill battle because the business routinely denies essential coverage. Many individuals feel entirely forced to fight through endless paperwork and formal appeals just to receive the basic benefits they were originally promised. Some reviewers were not happy with the customer service, noting that getting transferred repeatedly and dealing with unhelpful staff is extremely frustrating. People also mentioned dealing with unexpected financial surprises, such as sharply rising monthly premiums and steep out-of-pocket expenses for routine care.

This is the most corrupt insurance plan…

This is the most corrupt insurance plan you could possibly get,a bunch of promises, instead nothing but lies, consistently for 3 years now I've been trying to get my$2,520.00 back for my dental out of pocket paid 3 yrs ago,was told to send the bills to 3 different addresses, sent them registered mail, sent them per thier instructions (UHC), I know they were receiving the bills they were signed for, I've talked to probably a hundred (So called customer reps?) and I've never seen such incompetent people, I'm now in the "appeals" stage of their "GAME",IF A MULTI BILLION DOLLAR COMPANY CAN'T OR WON'T PAY FOR THE MONEY THEY OWE ME HOW IN THE HELL CAN YOU TRUST THEM FOR ANYTHING ELSE? THEY SPEND MILLIONS ON JUNK MAILING -HOME HEALTH VISITS ET.ETC.ETC., TIRED OF PLAYING GAMES WITH STUPID LYING PEOPLE, GOING TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE ATT.GEN., MEDICARE/MEDICADE FRAUD DIVISION AND THE DEPT.OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES,IF THAT DON'T WORK I'LL HIRE A LAWYER AND GO TO SMALL CLAIMS COURT AND UHC CAN SPEND SOME OF THEIR MONEY ON THEIR OWN LAWYERS AND THEIR TRAVEL AND EXPENSES,I'D RATHER LET MY LAWYER GET THE MONEY THAN THESE LYING, CORRUPT ASSHOLES, TIRED OF THE LOW LIFE BILLIONAIRES RIPPING OFF THE TAXPAYING PUBLIC,I WORKED FOR MY BENEFITS AND I'LL GET THEM ONE WAY OR ANOTHER, FUTURE ENROLLEES YOU'VE BEEN WARNED, DON'T FALL FOR THEIR BULLSHIT, AND EVERY CUSTOMER REP I'VE DEALT WITH DOESN'T KNOW A DAMN THING ABOUT INSURANCE!🤔 I'VE SEEN ON THE WEBSITES WHERE UHC IS UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR A NUMBER OF THINGS, GONNA FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THEM TO SO I MIGHT AS WELL GET IN LINE AND GET IT OVER WITH, BETTER OFF DEALING WITH A VETINARIAN THEN THESE BRAIN DEAD IDIOTS!

Worst customer service call center

Ever since United Healthcare started outsourcing the phone calls to INDIA customer service has disappeared. They truly do not understand the concept of customer service. No question is answered and when a questions continues to get asked because it has not been answered they hang up on the members, providers and agents. I feel UHC will loose members and providers due to the rude interactions we all experience.

Absolute Corporate "Customer Service/Care"

I recently started having UnitedHealthcare as my insurance provider, much to my dismay. After having numerous issues with IBS related symptoms, having a colonoscopy, and not having much success with any over the counter meds, my doctor submits a prior authorization to try a new medication. UnitedHealthcare receives it, rejects it, gives me no knowledge that it's been rejected, and here I am, fighting with my pharmacy and doctor's office when in reality it's my insurance holding it up, because of course right?

I talk to the customer service agents over the web chat, check to see the status of my insurance, which WAS confirmed active. And yet, somehow, I'm deemed not medically necessary of needing this medication, in spite of a colonoscopy and multiple over the counter treatments, along with multiple prescriptions tried that WEREN'T over the counter. So really, what's the reason then? You don't want to pay for it? I've GOT the clinical proof showing it.

My first customer service chat was with "Annie". At least here, in spite of the corporate speak, there was actually a person behind the messages, even if it was a result I am not satisfied with.

My second chat? With "Sean"? Forget it. I swear, you'd think you were talking to an AI chatbot. All I got were faux apologies, how he is sorry for what I am going through, and when I ask yes or no questions, I get dodgy answers until I keep pressing. The whole time, I'm asking can I speed up the process at all, and he's wasting my time with not answering and just giving me the fake corporate answers boiling down to "I'm sorry you feel that way". I'd like to think I'm not the kind of person who is super harsh, but for you, Sean, if that's even your name? Zeroes all around. If you're reading this, "Sean", you really earned it.

Absolute garbage customer service. I shouldn't need to prove I need a medication in the first place. I'm not saying I condone what Luigi Mangione did, but you people should have learned something from it.

I went to uhc website to order my $40 quarterly otc products. I spent 1 hour and the sight kept telling me I needed a new password or reset password or send an email code number or need your Medicare number ( when I got the Medicare number it did not provide a place to type it in. Then it said I had to start all over again. This is a scam. Also the I store Walmart purchasing process is really bad because it does not pay for good vitamins. Shame on uhc🥲

Worst experience of my life.

Worst experience of my life dealing with this insurance company. From the poorly knowledgeable employees to continuing to take out premiums from my bank account after finally cancelling the plan at which time I was told I would not be charged because it was cancelled. I spent countless hours on the phone trying to resolve issues being transferred to a new rep, having to retell the story, and getting no resolve whatsoever. This company should be investigated and held accountable for their shady and unethical practices. Oh wait! They are being investigated, just not yet held responsible. I would NEVER in a million years refer ANYONE to this company. I feel bad for any senior having to navigate this horrendous company. United Health should be shut down. If I could give zero stars, I would.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!

For the last 3 months we have contacted UHC about our U-cards not not working for over the counter supplements. Which we always lookup the upc first to see if the product is covered, however for the last 3 months when at the register it refuses the card. We have gotten no where with customer services. They never return calls when promised and when we ask for the CEO email they gave us someone who was no longer with UHC. We called back and the next supposedly supervisor wouldn't give us any emails to someone in the corporate office to help resolve the issue with our cards. We'll definitely be lookfor another Medicare insurance company! By the way you can find any CEO or Operational manager numbers and emails on Rocket Search or LinkedIn.

UHC is the absolute worst

My very necessary surgery was just derailed because UHC denies everything as a first response. The time my doctor has spent fighting and appealing to get me the treatment I need would be so much better spent on patient care and improving patient outcomes. This company is inherently evil, there is zero good faith and they are knowingly and willingly causing suffering to people in an attempt to not pay for needed care and clumisly masking their strategy as patient advocacy. I just hope the choices made in this life have an impact in the next.

United healthcare RX drug nightmare plan

I have to say with all the prescription drug plans I’ve ever had, this United healthcare RX drug plan has to be the worst I ever had. If I could give it a zero I would the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. I called them to straighten out an issue I had with Walgreens a prescription I had and I was on the telephone with the United healthcare supplement plan for four hours back-and-forth trying to resolve my problem. I kept getting mixed prices. United healthcare supplement plan and Walgreens was telling me that it was another price after four attempts. United healthcare supplement plan tried to explain why I was paying so much for a prescription that was $283 for 30 day supply when all the other insurance companies quoted me $40 for the same prescription trying to call them is a nightmare. You have to answer 5000 questions before they even attempt to connect you so I say anyone looking to take out United healthcare supplement plan run the other way I promise if you don’t, you will regret it wholeheartedly sincerely John Schenck

Avoid prescription coverage with United…

Avoid prescription coverage with United Healthcare. Last year I had them and everything was great. This year they raised their prices to ridiculous amounts and did not let me know on internet site. Caused me to bounce checks. Cancelled my coverage and they continued billing me for months and did not allow me to obtain prescriptions and then told me had to disenroll. They basically laughed at me. B.S.

couldn't give a hoot

Sadly, I did not have a choice when picking my healthcare insurance provider; it was chosen by my employer, who got the cheapest out there..... My doc prescribed something for me, due to some issues I was having, but they denied the rx. When you go to their site, it shows you need to be on sleep apnea to get it. I've been using a sleep apnea machine for 5 years now.. With no contact, no research within their own records, nope, denied. These people couldn't care two hoots about your health; they are not there to help, they are there to take your money and do the least amount of work as possible.

Worst portal EVER

Worst portal EVER! Clearly written by a programmer who had not a clue of ever using it. They will send links to your email for different things, but it always takes you to "This link has expired. Please contact the sender of the email for more information." If you contact them, they have not a clue. In addition, they coverage they offer goes down each year while the price continues to go up. Ya, no. Stay away from this company.

Every time we call

Every time we call, the person we speak with does not understand English enough to answer any of our questions. They also refuse, although apologize profusely, to transfer us to someone in the United States so we can solve the current problem.

Years ago I thought this was the best… sense
Years ago I thought this was the best insurance, now it’s gone way down, now you have to get referrals to see a specialist ,even though you’ve been seeing the specialist for years, which is totally uncalled for of having to get a doctor to write you out 4 to 5 referrals and send them to the office ,not to mention how they went down on the glasses and don’t hardly give you anything you used to get two pair glasses now you’re lucky if you get one, the representatives you call and ask them questions and they have no idea even what you’re talking about, or they know nothing. Apparently they don’t mind losing customers because I will be one gone as soon as I get through this year and I’m sure they’ll lose more’!!

Corruption and Discrimination June 2026

United healthcare assigned me a Case Manager for my daily chores. She told me that the State Of Michigan said That The Only Way That A Question Could Be Answer Was I Assist In Chores That I Needed. I Have Copd Scoliosis Herniated Disc Nerve Damage I take about 17 pills a day but the case manager said I take only 9 medications. But the case manager said that the State Of Michigan said that I Could Only Answer The Question By I Have To Assist In My Daily Chores That I Have To Go Grocery Shopping With My Care Giver I Have To Do Laundry Fold Clothes Cook Wash Dishes Wipe Off The Kitchen Counter Everything My Care Provider Does I Have To Assist. Then she only gave me 3 Agencies To pick from which the reviews for their service was awful. So out the 3 Agencies were people she is associated with. I call this Corruption Across The Board. And Also Stated that I only take 9 medications which the last time I counted I Take 17. The Corruption In United healthcare has to be investigated.

The white United Healthcare card does…

The white United Healthcare card does not ever work. Only certain items are approved and even those items never go through.
A waste of space and existence entirely.
Do not make the mistake of switching your healthcare over to this poor excuse of an insurance company.
