Order placed for reclaimed Oak railway sleepers and delivered about a week later. Sleepers look great.

Reclaimed railway sleepers are not cheap, especially with the delivery charges are included. But it’s great to find different lengths and they look absolutely fabulous in the garden.

Great customer service, order as expected

The delivery drivers were lovely and very accommodating to unload exactly where we wanted. However, trying to get a delivery day was not straight forward, several phone conversations of 'probable' dates. The quality was really disappointing. We ordered around 38 scaffold boards - 18 have large splits - 4 are shaved at the side showing the trunk of the trees. We ordered these for an outside deck and wanted full length boards but as so many need to be trimmed down we have to redesign the layout. Plus, we have to dispose of the split parts that cannot be used. We also ordered 4.8 lengths of 4 x 2 - some of them are 'shaped like a banana' and unusable. We would think twice about ordering from UK Timber when we next need timber.

This is my first time purchasing from UK Timber and I am very pleased with the price of the oak briquettes athe excellent service. The quality of the briquettes is superb and they were packaged well. The delivery man was helpful, courteous and on time. I will certainly use this company again.

Bought the most perfect lumps of oak imagineable at a reasonable price.

Ordered 12 lengths of the Grade A Extra Large reclaimed tropical hardwood sleepers. When they arrived and separated out, majority of the pieces showed significant rot, damage and generally poor quality. Having reviewed elsewhere, these were more consistant with Grade B or even Grade C in some cases.
On contacting UK Timber customer services, they were confident the gradings were correct, however did offer straight away approx 33% discount and claimed to have no better wood in stock.
As there were only a couple of 1.8mtr and one 2.6 mtr piece that could have been used the whole load was rejected.
One saving grace for UK-Timber was they arranged colelction and processed refund quickly and drivers who dropped off and collected loads were very helpful.

All was good apart from taking too long ( in my humble opinion) to deliver the goods.

So I ordered some British larch beams and requested them to be planed all round. Firstly after placing order I was then notified that there is a £300 deliver cost and 3 week wait or i would have to drive 3 hours up north to collect to which I called and asked why this costing was not told during the check out process. I had no choice but to then pay this on top of the paid basket cost already. Then my timber arrived and was damaged in many places, also the beams where meant to be 150mm x 150mm planned all round and they are not square or straight in any way some one end is 130mm other end is 145mm and they all differ slightly so not great. Also the quality of the larch is pretty poor and the ends are all slanted aswel I was lead to believe this would be a nice planned 150 x 150 beam and it's far from that. I also had a large length of 150 x 40mm which came so twisted and bend its unstable. Have to say very dissopointing especially when I have to pay such a premium to have delivered at my own cost.

Great quality sleepers, driver was amazing dropping them off into a very tight space for us.

Products are good but the delivery is a joke, no indication of a delivery date, random delays and rescheduling then short notice

I have used uk timer several times in the past and have always been satisfied with the service.
However the last time I ordered from them, not only did I have to wait 45 mins to have the timber brought to me, when I arrived back home I realised that one of the bits was badly bowed.
I called to arrange to get it replaced and was told it was it had been stored incorrectly and wasn’t prepared to replace.
Eventually this was replaced by uk timber but has left a bitter taste and has made me reluctant to use them again.

Just ordered an Oak pergola. Mike was very helpful when I arrived to discuss my needs. Phone calls were answered promptly and everyone I dealt with were also very helpful. Very happy with the product and would highly recommend UK Timber.

Slow, Slow, and very poor customer service

We ordered the solid Oak fencing 2 months ago and it finally arrived today, despite numerous promises over the past weeks! Discovered that a part of the order was not suitable for what we wanted. They offer virtually no advice - if you can use another supplier, I would certainly advise you to do so. Every time you call, they have such a lackadaisical attitude to service, it's frankly bizarre. I also sense they want to quote you for the most expensive options, which I didn't realise until later.

Excellent goods condition, poor communication (I never got answer, I asked them 3 times). Was 16 delivery. No missed items.

I placed an order for graded oak for a roof trusses project where I wanted to make 2 mono pitch trusses for a lean-to attached building to our house that needed to be significantly upgraded with new roof, windows and lime work on the stone construction. I made a mistake in the order in that instead of oak for 2 king beams, I only asked for 1. I ordered 12 beams in total. Updated with an extra order. UK timber made one mistake with the remainder of the order. They supplied me with one beam that was an inch too thick and about a foot too long, that would have been down to a lack of concentration of the person doing the cutting. I trimmed that beam down and all was good. The quality of the timber was excellent and the quality of the cutting was spot on. No evidence at all of swayed cuts due to taking the beam off the cutting table slewed sideways before the cut was complete. The attention to detail here was superb. I have almost completed the making of the trusses with no problems whatsoever. Thank you!
