Worst Travel Insurance- Avoid
Worst Travel Insurance- Avoid
Used this service recently for a holiday abroad and added Gadget Insurance.
My suitcase was broken into in baggage at Boa Vista Airport and my Garmin Watch stolen
Only then did I discover that the Post Office sell on the gadget insurance to another company who refused to pay out as the watch was not in my possession
Absolute rip off
Took out an annual multi trip policy…
Took out an annual multi trip policy for my husband and I. He died suddenly from a catastrophic heart attack in December. I had to cancel our holiday in January and put a claim in. It has not yet been paid and the way this company has treated me is nothing short of evil.
Their staffer laughed at me. I’ve had documents go ‘missing’ multiple times. Even when I’ve resent them while on the phone to them, they’ve ‘lost’ them the next day. They asked me to track down the hospital cardiologist to explain why my husband couldn’t be saved and claimed there was no cause of death on his official death certificate (there was of course).
Please avoid this non-insurance as it’s really stressful and awful to deal with them.
If they can treat a bereaved widow this appallingly, just imagine how badly they’ll treat you.
Post Office trouble insurance
Bought the annual multi trip thinking well it's the post office must be ok and didn't think to check reviews.
Idiot.
What is travel insurance for: to give a traveller peace of mind knowing that should the unexpected happen one will be covered and emergency costs repaid should the airline not be held responsible due to unexpected weather which on that day, early January, Winter was ice/ snow, imagine at that time of the year as well..
Time for your insurance company to step up, not with the post office whose cover and customer service is appalling.
Flight, 2 people, to Geneva cancelled after being delayed. Had to drive to another airport arriving 10 hours later than expected.
We received £120 back equating to £30 per person for each 4 hours delay.
Two of us £60 each for the two and a half lots of four hours.
We were out of pocket by £450 due to this episode but none of that was covered by their policy.
Don't bother calling their customer service, total waste of time. Company called collinson insurance handle the claims. They read from a script if you're lucky enough to get to speak to someone and they simply repeat not covered, can't do anything. Should have read the 70 plus pages of policy documents and cancelled within 14 days if the cover didn't match your requirements.
Their insurance is not fit for purpose. Avoid.
Won’t pay a penny refund upon cancellation!
Took insurance out in December 25 for 12 months. In January our bank offered a deal for a new type of bank account which includes travel and breakdown insurance at a good rate. Decided to cancel both existing policies with Post Office and RAC. The PO refused to give any refund on the almost 11 months unused portion of the policy. Never known an insurance company not to give some form of refund even after deducting a reasonable admin charge. The PO want to keep all £400+. What a bunch of thieves!
Really disappointed, certainly not what I expected
Train your staff ( claim line )....
Listen to your customers.
Respect your customers.
Don't expect customers to jump through hoops .
Called explained , described simple delayed flight, this missed connecting flight .
Claim handler understood description, and from my recollection even gave summary of her understanding of description, but then went off. on a tangent getting completely confused , and confusing me ,I found the situation uncomfortable so terminated the call..my concern is firstly the company has made no effort to contact me ( they have full contact details) but more so, if I find it not possible to lodge a simple claim. How might they fare if needed in the medical support section of the policy.
I had just purchased 12 month multi policy,, However I will be reviewing and no doubt purchasing with another provider ..MT
One word 'Appalling'
Never again will I use this appalling Company. You would have thought after the post office scandal they would have learned some lessons. Clearly not.
So bad I can't even bring myself to write anything else!
Hospital experience in Tenerife…
Took out travel insurance with post office or so i thought.Admitted to hospital in Tenerife and contacted post office only to be re directed to Collinsons insurance. After numerous telephone calls and emails collinsons are using every trick to reduce my claim by up to 80%.
I have been waiting monthsss for a…
I have been waiting monthsss for a decision on my case, they keep responding to my emails with the same email back, please please please avoid this company at all costs. They will long out your claim and you will have to keep chasing them. I am going to take my claim to financial ombudsman as I know for a fact they will get my settlement money from Collinson. Collinson do better! Don’t buy insurance from them or post office worst mistake I’ve ever done
Don't buy travel insurance with post office.
I purchased travel insurance with the post office in July 2025 as we were going for a holiday to Japan in May 2026.
The holiday was cancelled on doctors recommendation as the wifes health is poor.
The other members of the family submitted the documents to their relative companies. All of them have now received their refunds except me.
Post office underwriters are collinsons insurance services. They are not a nice company to deal with.
Collinsons have sent me an email on 4th December 2025 stating that they will send me a fund via Bacs within 5 working days. As yet no refund.
I have spoken to the post office claims. All they did was to send a complaint to collinsons which has not been resolved.
Collinsons employ staff who are totally incompetent ,especially the members of the their claims team. What is the line manager doing there? He receives urgent requests from other team members. Why is it taking him so long to process my refund ( since 4th December 2025).
It's a nightmare to deal with the post office travel insurance team and their underwriters, collinsons. Avoid them at all cost.
Let's see if I get a reply from the post office travel insurance team or collinsons.

Worst travel insurance company ever
I bought travel insurance for my parents while they were visiting me during the Christmas holidays.
My mother slipped in the garden because it was dark and there were stairs she couldn’t see. She broke her hand and had to wear a cast for 12 weeks.
We went to the hospital three times. I sent the insurance company all documents and full details of the insurance and the accident.
Despite this, they did not provide any help or support.
I am very disappointed with this insurance service
Shocking
Shocking - Tried to make a claim for travel disruption following the well documented collapse of the Eurostar collapse at New Year which caused travel chaos. We were stuck abroad for 2 days and couldn't get home at new year. The reason the claim was rejected was because the technical fault was in the tunnel and not on the actual train itself! Completely disregarded and we had been loyal customers with annual insurance with them for last 5 years - they have lost a loyal customer and the rest of the family that normally used them.
Missed Port Claim Delay
Missed Port Claim Delay
My Post Office Travel Insurance is through Collinson Insurance. I work 9-5 Monday to Friday, which is when their claims line is open. Subsequently, I have had to make my Missed Post claim via email. I emailed my claim on 12th December, I have sent several follow up emails with any required details/evidence/my bank account and am still waiting to hear if my claim is accepted. Despite the Christmas break etc, three weeks seems rather a long time to take dealing with this, especially as my partner who was able to telephone in their operating hours had her claim dealt with in ten minutes and received her refund within five hours!
Why does an email claim take so long in comparison when they have been provided with all the evidence they require on the first email to them?
Scandalous quotes
Applied for Travel Insurance for a solo trip to France, quoted over £360 for an 18 year old. Scandalous! Talk about not wanting the business.
I took a travel insurance policy out…
I took a travel insurance policy out with post office as I thought I could trust them, there were cheaper policies but I like a name I know. 14 days after I took the policy out I broke my wrist, I called them & the man took notes & told me he had added it to my policy at no cost. When the documents came through they hadn’t included my broken wrist. I immediately called back & spoke to Jamie who went through it with me & said there would be £162 to pay. We talked about it & she said she would be in touch with her manager & would call me back the next day, she didn’t so I called again & she said she had been in touch with her manager & he would call me on Friday or Saturday. He didn’t. So I called today Monday & they wanted me to answer all the questions again & now said it would be £220 . I said what about the conversation with the manager he said there was a note on my case & he would PROBABLY be in touch before they close for Christmas, he couldn’t get me off the phone quick enough as, I realised then at was 16-58 nearly home time. I told him I was going on holiday on 30/12/25 & I was very concerned, He wasn’t interested . Will they ring me back tomorrow, I don’t think so.
Won't refund my cancelled insurance
Awaiting a telephone call for the second successive week for them to explain to me why I haven't been refunded my payment for travel insurance.
I found them via Money SuperMarket.
Purchased travel insurance and then their link broke for their website.
They took payment still.
No documents received.
I asked them to cancel my travel insurance the next day, perhaps even the same day but certainly less then two days.
I have no documents. No receipt to show payment.
I have provided evidence of payment from my bank account. Provided evidence of payment taken when the link broke.
Have given them my name, address, DoB, emails, telephone number.
MSM have provided proof of transaction via their website.
Buy they insist on evidence of payment.
What more can I do!!!!
They have taken payment from my bank account. I have provided evidence of who I am.
For goodness sake, refund me to the same bank account.
It is appalling. It's been nearly two weeks now since they took payment, via a website communication failure but they still won't refund me.
What difference a telephone call will make, god knows. I never ordered it verbally sothey can't even check if my voice sounds the same on any recordings made.
It's Kafkaesque.
They do not payout..Check out the reviews
Wish I had seen the reviews on here. Collinsons who provide the Post Office travel insurance are one of those companies who look hard not to pay out. I have raised a formal complaint and will escalate to the Ombudsman if necessary once the internal process is complete. I would advice anyone else to also, its not difficult - don't just accept these declinations of payment. At renewal I will be going elsewhere.
PLEASE STAY AWAY
PLEASE STAY AWAY! Terrible TRAVEL Insurance - I have premier and it covers nothing
£50 per 4 hours
My flight delayed for 7.45 mins
They still pay £50
Also need the reason of delay letter from airport - not an email it’s been delayed
I have had travel insurance with the…
I have had travel insurance with the Post Office for a number of years and have not made a claim.
I should have flown to Tanzania on 10/11/2025 but due to a travel ban applied by the UK Foreign Office, the week before I was due to go, my holiday was cancelled by the holiday company. I received all the money back that I had paid to the company but I had paid for a visa, a non-refundable transfer and malaria tablets that came to over £120. When I called the customer service department I was told that I could not claim for these expenses. As the Foreign Office imposed this travel ban I would have thought the extra expenses would have been covered.
I will not renew my travel insurance with the Post Office and will not recommend them to family and friends.
Policies don't cover natural disasters
My partner and I had to cancel flights and hotels in Vietnam due to severe flooding and typhoons, but our £200 policy 'doesn't cover natural disasters'. Without trying to sound rude, what's the point of an insurance policy if it doesn't cover natural disasters? It was hinted that if I wanted to make a claim, I'd have to pay a premium too?
Supposedly this was in the fine print, but I've checked all the documents they sent over and on the portal and was unable to find it. I've always gone with Post Office because I felt they were more trustworthy, but seems it's more of the same.
Avoid avoid Missing my and my grandsons…
Avoid avoid Missing my and my grandsons flight told them the ture how it happen.
400 quid later they said sorry it's not covered another person the post office has led to believe that they are a good company.
I was told you should read the ts and cs fantastic job avoid avoid I will never use them again after using them for years
