Customers frequently struggled with extremely slow claims processing, experiencing constant frustrating delays and repeated demands for the same paperwork. People also found customer service completely unhelpful, noting that phone calls were routinely ignored or escalated endlessly without ever receiving a callback. Absoulutely great experience

Absoulutely great experience. We booked a weekend away which we were really looking forward to however my wife contracted shingles on the right side of her face and in her eye. She was extremely poorly and sadly we had to cancel our trip. I submitted a claim about 4 days ago and just got the good news to say we are getting the full amount back (minus the excess)
This company is quick and so easy to deal with

I had to cancel my holiday at the last…

I had to cancel my holiday at the last minute and unfortunately had to wait around four weeks for the medical reports needed to support my claim. During that time, I was looking at reviews online and came across some negative ones, which understandably caused me quite a bit of anxiety. However, once I finally submitted my claim, I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly it was dealt with. The whole claim was sorted within a week, which was much quicker and smoother than I had expected. Overall, despite the initial wait for the medical reports and my concerns after reading some of the reviews, I was very happy with how efficiently my claim was handled once it was submitted.

Do not touch this company

Do not touch this company or trust them. Am in the process of trying to claim for a trip which my partner and I had to cancel due to the sudden death of his father. My partner's insurance (Staysure) paid his claim in full just 4 days after contacting them. A month after contacting Post Office, they are still making requests for extra information - for example the hospital letter (which Staysure accepted) doesn't count, as 'it's not stamped', and they want proof from a gp instead. Given that my partner's father died in hospital, the gp can't currently supply any information - so we remain out of pocket. I've been dealing with four different members of staff in an office in South Africa, with no sense of continuity, and this is all adding a huge amount of stress and upset at a time of grief. The name 'Post Office travel insurance' makes this service seem reputable, but they actually contract out to a company called Collinson, so don't consider them trustworthy because of the name. I don't normally write reviews online and this is the first time I've ever tried to claim on travel insurance, but the comparison between Staysure and Post Office has taught me a serious lesson. Don't go near this company.

Worst travel insurance company

I purchased Post Office Travel Insurance last year because I trusted the Post Office brand. Unfortunately, my experience when making a claim was extremely disappointing.

While travelling back from Paris, my bag was stolen at London St Pancras station by what the police described as an organised theft. I lost my laptop, phone, passport, and many other valuable personal belongings. A police report was filed, and I provided Post Office Travel Insurance with all the requested evidence and documentation.

Despite this, my claim for the gadget cover was declined. Having already suffered the loss of valuable possessions, important data, and personal items, the claims process only added to the stress and frustration.

Based on my experience, I would not recommend this travel insurance if you expect support when you need to make a claim. I certainly won't be purchasing Post Office Travel Insurance again.

Poor comms, poor admin, weaselled out of paying part

I took out Post Office Travel Insurance (administered by Collinson) for a trip to Japan, where I unfortunately hit my head, was knocked unconscious, and sustained both an eyebrow laceration and two chipped teeth. While they eventually (after 8 weeks of emailing) settled the hospital bill, they flatly refused to cover the £165 emergency dental cost caused by the exact same impact. Apparently they would have paid this if I had sorted it in Japan, but who goes to a foreign dentist?

To make matters worse, they omitted the dental payout without any reason and ignored my follow-up messages for over a week.

Their claims team clearly does not properly review the documentation submitted. The lack of basic communication and the refusal to pay a legitimate £165 emergency claim following a severe injury is unacceptable. If you are looking for an insurer that actually supports you during a medical emergency without inventing excuses to dodge small payouts, look elsewhere.

Nightmare phonecall

Nightmare phonecall - after nearly 30 minutes of robots saying "we value your custom" "don't be rude to our staff" I was eventually speaking to a human. They know it's crap yet do nothing to improve service. Now they are privatised can they employ more on the phones.
Ref Travel Insurance
Don't bother. I took it out and rang the next day to add blood pressure tablets and a statin I'd forgotten to mention. The £130 premium doubled. I cancelled. THEN I went back onto Go Compare and edited my original details adding in the tablets - Premium went up £20. This shows that once they have you they will rip you off!!!

Eurostar cancelled our midday return…

Eurostar cancelled our midday return from Paris to London offering an early evening return as our only option. Consequently we missed our pre booked return and could find no onward train journeys that evening to Scotland so had to book a family room in a hotel in London and pay for another train the next day. Post Office only paid out on Eurostar delay but not consequential accommodation cost and return fare. We had the standard premium. Very disappointed with outcome as we believed we were covered for such an eventuality.

Dont use Post Office travel insurance

Stupidly for the first time( last year) i bought annual post office insurance , instead of through the company i usually use.
My 13 year old daughter and i were in dire straights due to bag theft with all passports , money and phones stolen. Was a momentary lapse of concentration. We are human. When trying to get help the Post office insurance went to south african call centre that rejected my claim within seconds , leaving us stranded in Germany ( “bag stolen from bench 10 meters way was unattended “) . 35 years of using travel insurance and the first time i claim and i get shafted. Never ever ever use post office insurance!!!! Now post office is trying to auto renew , they can take a running jump.

Do not use this company

If I could give no stars I would. Absolutely appalling service when my Daughter got spiked and mugged abroad. Wanted Full Police Report. Not crime reference number. We know how long that takes before you have to depart home. Non English speaking advisors who don't understand English.. anything to avoid paying out. Asked my Daughter to phone in after telling them her phone had been stolen so was unable too. I have always used post office until now. Never again please avoid at all costs!

Avoid purchasing a policy from the Post…

Avoid purchasing a policy from the Post Office. Simply not worth the paper it is written on. Consider making a complaint? Don't bother, wholly unprofessional and they hang the call up rather than providing details of their complaints procedure and the independent body that may be referred to. It is therefore impossible to progress any claim properly, let alone commencing a formal complaints process.

Do not use Post Office Insurance

Do not ever insure your car with the Post Office. When I changed cars they could not insure my new car. I still stuck with the Post Office and took a new policy out with them. I have now received a charge to cancel a policy that I never wanted to cancel in the first place, plus a late payment fee. I am still stuck with what is probably a more expensive Post Office insurance policy when I should have just cancelled it. Will never insure anything with them ever again and suggest that nobody else does either.

Read before you take travel ins from the Post Office

Post Office Travel Insurance - do not pay out travel insurance claims!

I concur with the reviews here, Post Office use Collision Insurance. They are awful and hide behind the Post Office name - they will do everything to delay, frustrate and then finally offer a low settlement, when it is clearly against the policy.

Even their complaints dept in inadequate.

If you get caught like we did: get a specific response to why your claim does not qualify as per policy, write to coliision complaints (you will need this for the Ombudsman), also contact post office directly, write to the Ombudsman. Of course, spread the word on social media so others are aware.
Incident happened in Dec., its July now, and I am still disputing! Wish us luck, the other people in my group in the same situation had their claims settled within 1-2 months - that's the difference.

Never trust the Post Office - awful company.

Never trust the Post Office - they are a national disgrace. I took out my holiday insurance, many months ago, in good faith based on my medical knowledge at the time. I then found out I was having further tests last week ( The NHS letter confirms I did not know about them). I submitted this as disclosure to the Post Office, and they just cancelled the policy. No explanation, no mention of a refund - just cancelled. Then in the letter ( which is very hard to follow it is so badly written) I am asked for further information like name, DOB etc - why? I am due to go on holiday in 2 days and I have no holiday cover. If this is their attitude before a claim - I would imagine they will be awful to deal with in an emergency,

Absolutely awful

Absolutely awful, I declared my illness, I later had to have chemo which meant we could not travel, I claimed on my insurance in November 2025 it took until June 2026 to have a payout, after several phone calls to them. They took £150 per person on the insurance as access. Disgusting service, avoid,
avoid, avoid.

My parents need to cancel some flights…

My parents need to cancel some flights due to dad getting a cancel diagnosis, they took out an annual policy last June & booked the flights on 1st February & when they tried to claim back in May they were told apparently they aren’t covered as the trip is in August even tho they are covered now & had literally that day only just got their renewal email through. Was told a manager would call with 48 hours & no call, so called again & was told the same & again no call! I would not recommend this company at all!

If I could give 0 stars I would

If I could give 0 stars I would. I have used this insurance company for years as I had never needed to make any claims so never had experienced anything bad with them until the ONE time I ended up hospitalised in Spain and they would not help. I had forgotten to take out the insurance before I left the UK so I purchased the insurance ONE day into my holiday, it wasn’t while over a week later when I was hospitalised that I needed to use it for the first time ever but they wouldn’t grant me the claim as I took out the insurance after I left the UK. Something I do not understand is if you are unable to use the insurance if bought when already on holiday, why does it even give you the option to be able to purchase in the first place once you have put in your dates?! When I spoke with an advisor she claimed it would have asked me if I’m already on holiday.. IT DOES NOT ASK YOU THIS. They have absolutely zero people skills and no compassion at all! I will NEVER be returning here as a customer, they will try everything and anything to dismiss your claim. Terrible terrible company!!

Be careful

Be careful. It turned out our travel insurance was completely invalidated whilst waiting a simple blood test. I spoke to 2 different customer service people. A waste of money. We have moved onto a much better company.

Brilliant service for cruise missed port.

Brilliant service. We took out travel insurance with cruise cover. On the cruise we had a missed port due to weather. I phoned the PO Customer Claims Line and within an hour, we received a payment into our bank account. The person on the phone was friendly and went through the claims process thoroughly. Excellent.
