Great quality furniture, shame about going bust
We ordered a hifi cabinet some time ago and although there were delays it got delivered. I think the people running the business were really unlucky as they seemed very genuine in the dealings with us. Covid probably dodn't help one bit.
Very Disappointed
Like many others, I ordered 3 pieces of furniture (£1300) back in June 2022, being keen to support this small businesses rather than settle for something mass produced. I was given a 3-4 month delivery promise, followed by a series of excuses for running late, and then received the notice of bankruptcy in late December. Nothing for the last 2 months - no administrator has been in touch. I can try the small claims court as suggested, but they unlikely to have sufficient assets to cover their debts. Gutted!
Update: An Administrator was appointed in mid February. Contact Hawkins Insolvency Limited. (Sorry - no email addresses allowed here)
Administration
We to have not heard from the administrator, if anyone could provide contact details it would be much appreciate.
Multiple excuses for delays. No refund. Money gone.
500£s gone. That is my experience with """Thereallygoodoakshop""". I ordered a custom oak table-top, only to be told of delays due to poor quality wood. After this, it was due to shipping problems and Brexit. After this, due to illness. Silence, and then I was told of imminent bankruptcy.
Over 76,000£ of what customers paid for are now gone. Good-luck trying to get your money back from a company with no assets left.
What an absolute mess. 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
Again
Again, we have been caught by this business failure. We have hot heard from the Administrator- could someone please pass on their name please?
Are they only dealing with the Limited Company? Our order was in April 2022, before the Incorporation. Thanks
Insolvent!!
You should all now have recieved an e-mail from the insolvency people. It seems there are135 customers owed a total of Nearly £76K at an average of £562 with some quite large sums. In addition there are many other debts (including the tax man) to be charged against few assets so the outlook is grim. What a shambles! Serves me right for not using a credit card but at least my loss is relatively small. Do check and return the paperwork!!
I must be one of the lucky ones
I must be one of the lucky ones - I paid for my furniture in April 2022..........and after many emails and promises that my furniture was nearly ready, I did receive it in late November - and the furniture is excellent.
I think the company has probably overstretched itself and had a lot of bad luck last year.
I can only speak as I find - he seemed a really nice, decent guy when he delivered my furniture and no way would I describe this as a scam.
Yet another failed customer
Yet another failed customer waiting for either my wardrobe or my money back. Paid £800+ Apparently bank can help if order was less than 120 days ago. Sadly mine not
Not in administration
Same as other comments, order placed followed by delays until the email claiming they had gone into administration. There is no evidence that they have gone into administration - Companies House says "active" and the insolvency register on gov.uk shows nothing. Trading Standards advised reporting to Action Fraud (easy to do online) and if payment wasn't by a credit card attempt to recover funds by a small claims court action which is valid for claims up to £10,000
I've had the same bad experience
I've had the same bad experience, ordered August 2021, £403 paid by bank transfer, don't suppose I'll see that money ever again.

Hi I also paid in good faith £305 in August, also got email advising of delay but would be fulfilled by end of year. Then the email in administration I have emailed several occasions as I don’t have the administrators contact details which was advised would be in touch in last email. Very disappointed, does anyone have the contact details for administrators please?

It appears there is no alternative but legal action unless re-imbursement can be sort from Creditcard companies. Willing to join a class action group
I placed my order in June 2022
I placed my order in June 2022 - like many people posting here I did not receive my Furniture, I did receive the Workshop is closed e-mail after lots of unkept promises to catch up on deliveries.
I made a Section 75 Claim to my Credit Card company explaining everything and posted it by Royal Mail, I can see the money has been refunded to my Credit Card account today.
I have lost £1659
Same sad story to the value of £1659. I placed my order for shelves and cupboard and had no idea I was never going to see my furniture. I was told 12 weeks and given a delivery date. When I checked by email the day before I was emailed back with a “delay till mid January”. I’ve asked for my money back and got the “administration” email. I will be happy to discuss with others in the same situation as to the best course of action.
NOTE: THANKS to Santander and PayPal I got all my money back, so it’s just been a waste of time and not waste of money!
Do not purchase anything from this company
Do not purchase anything from this company! We too placed an order for custom furniture back in January 2022 - lots a "delays" and failure to deliver.
Now received notification the company is in "administration" or more likely a breathing period before restarting this scam.
Report it and take legal advise as to next steps.
SCAM
I too ordered and paid £598.00 to Wayne Edmondson in April 2022. Countless excuses for the delays so I decided to pay him a visit at his home on Friday. Only then did I get a response which prompted his email to us all. I strongly believe that this was a plan to amass a pension fund. What he doesn't realise is that any orders placed before June 15th 2022 would be under his own name and not the Limited Company . I have already started legal action against him to reclaim monies owed.
These people are a scam
I like all the other people on here I placed an order in November 2021 for a Hi Fi unit I paid my money as requested for £534.00 up front and all it has been is excuse after excuse I just thought after a while they don’t seem to be having much luck so wanting the Hi Fi
unit I just gave them the benefit of the doubt but a big but because I told them I had waited long enough to give me a refund I then got a message saying it would be delivered on the 16th of December I thought great,I then got a message on the 17th saying that they were closing.I think they are heartless people to do this to everyone I hope they come unstuck by doing what they have done.
Wasted £365 and a year waiting for nothing
Same as everyone else. Paid £365 by bank transfer in Nov '21 for a custom bookcase I never received. Just dishonest emails stringing me along for a year.
Update I have so far received no information from the insolvency company so cannot get intouch
I agree with all othere reviews ordered 4 pieces of bespoke furniture on the 14th January 2022 at a cost of £3114-00 same excuses when asked for delivery date and assured delivery on 7th December no delivery only email to say they have ceased trading having payed by bank transfer I don't think I will see any of my money back this company as no concerns about receiving monies knowing they will not be fulfilling the orders
Horrible experience
I can only add to what others have already said, excuse after excuse. Lost count of the emails and unanswered calls since placing the order in May. Have paid over a £1000 to this company, they should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves, taking peoples hard earned money and giving nothing in return. Have requested a refund also but I'm pretty sure I'll never see it. An update for anyone who paid with a credit card. Fill out a section 75 or charge back with your card company and you can claim a refund that way. I've not got all my money back as some I paid by bacs. For those asking about administrator they are Hawkins insolvency...
