I was more than happy with my new XXL shiny locket. The communication was excellent, nothing was a hassle even though I was quite thorough with what I wanted. Also the time frame from purchase to receiving the locket was very quick.
I would definitely recommend The Locket Tree.

I’m most definitely happy on how the locket looks as it was a birthday present for my mother 70th. It arrived on time five days before her birthday, the quality on how it beautifully wrapped it was. I would definitely recommend and shop with them again.

We bought as a present and asked for it to be wrapped, so didn’t get to see it. However, the young girl loved it. The staff are friendly, professional and nothing is too much. I spelt the name wrong and they were more than happy to change, luckily it was before they had engraved it. Received it within a few days, very happy with purchase and would recommend.

Responded quickly and clearly to a query about personalisation. Then my order came within a couple of days and is brilliant, with photos in the locket clear and accurately cropped. Highly recommended.

If I hadn’t experienced an issue on the day of delivery, I’m sure this would have been a very different review. The ordering process and the craftsmanship of the personalised handwriting-engraved locket I had designed for my partner’s 30th birthday were genuinely beautiful.
This was a £233 personalised gift containing the handwriting of my partner’s late father, who passed away unexpectedly only a couple of months ago. Given the deeply personal nature of the item, and its cost, this was not a purchase I made lightly, and it isn't something you want to be anything but perfect.
However, upon receiving the locket, I found that it would not click closed properly, no matter how hard I tried. I contacted customer service, who initially acknowledged that the issue could be due to a fault or assembly problem and asked for the item to be returned for inspection, with a potential refund as it was not considered fit for purpose.
After inspection, I was informed that no fault could be found and that the item had always been fine, with no explanation of the issue I experienced on arrival and no apology for the inconvenience. This response left me feeling as though my concerns were not fully engaged with. When the item was returned to me, it did then appear to close correctly, despite not functioning when first received.
I then had a lengthy email exchange trying to understand how the locket could have gone from not closing at all to functioning normally, as I was really worried the same issue could occur again. During this process, I received conflicting explanations about whether any internal adjustment had been made, which only added to my uncertainty about what had actually been checked.
At times, the tone of communication made me feel that my concerns were being dismissed & I was being criticised for raising them, rather than taken seriously. I also felt that the situation was being framed in a way that implied I was making unfounded accusations, when my intention was simply to understand why they didn't believe the locket didn't close properly for me & what that issue could have been caused by.
The final correspondence was particularly difficult to read, as it suggested I should “respect” the effort taken to repackage the item and the costs incurred in postage. While I do appreciate all of this, it is part of their normal service of handling a returned product. I was also told that two rounds of postage had been paid to demonstrate there was no fault, despite free returns being part of the standard process? This made me feel like I was a 'problem' or causing them grief, despite it all being part of their standard service.
After feeling unable to reach a resolution, I tried to get used to the idea of having to gift it as it was (I can't afford a £100-200 replacement gift - this was a very special purchase), but I later noticed a brown mark on the inside of the locket frame. Reviewing earlier photos and videos, I realised it had been present from the beginning, although I had not noticed it initially due to focusing on the closure issue & trying to not handle it too much as I wanted it to be shiny & as untouched as possible for gifting. I am surprised this brown mark was not identified during inspection. (Update: Locket has now been refunded as staining was found on the silver frame during the second inspection.)
Overall, I am disappointed with both the handling of the product issue and the customer service experience, particularly given the sentimental nature of the item.
I’ve never felt so isolated, belittled and ‘told off’ as a customer raising genuine concerns. I'm yet to hear any sort of apology for the inconvenience or poor customer service I endured.
I’ll never be purchasing here again, which is really sad because I really thought I’d found a real gem when it came to sentimental gifts. But kindness goes a long way and this isn't a company I feel comfortable supporting.
Some feedback: It'd be really great if inspection videos were filmed from the minute you open the product in its packaging, so it's clear to see how the product has arrived vs. how it is being sent back. This would have saved a lot of confusion & worry!
