Terrible customer service

Change in name meant historic points accrued were lost without suitable warning. They only tell you a box is ready the same day they will bill you and they wont let you cancel or skip the box then even though it is nearly a week before it actually arrives and it hasnt even been billed or packed at that stage, Most GIns are mediocre at best. Overall it seems like a massive scam and cancelling is impossible online - you have to phone them up and listen to them offer various other options before you can actually cancel the subscription. They know this will be illegal next year but are clearly waiting until the last possible minute to rectify it as currently i suspect it makes them more money to do it this way and manipulate thier customers.

Hi Andy, We're sorry to read that you feel this way.

Regarding your rewards, members were given advance notice in October 2025 that our existing points scheme was being replaced with a new 2% cashback programme. We sent an initial email explaining the changes, followed by two reminder emails. These communications made it clear that points could be redeemed until 4th January 2026, after which any unused points would expire, while cashback earned under the new scheme would become available. Our rebrand at the end of May did not affect members' rewards, as the loyalty scheme had changed several months earlier.

In terms of subscriptions, billing has always taken place on the 23rd of the month prior to your next box (for example, you're charged on 23rd July for your August box). This date is the same every month and is communicated throughout the membership journey. The email confirming your upcoming order is sent when billing takes place, so there isn't an unexpected change to the billing date.

As set out in our membership terms, any skips, swaps or cancellations for an upcoming box need to be made before the monthly deadline, as this is when our fulfilment process begins. Once an order has been processed, we're unable to make changes to that particular shipment.

Finally, we appreciate that not everyone prefers to cancel by phone. We ask members to call because it allows us to answer any remaining questions, gather valuable feedback and ensure the membership is closed correctly. These conversations typically take just a couple of minutes, and while we do make members aware of any available options, there's never any obligation to accept them before cancelling.

We're sorry that our service wasn't the right fit for you and appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We wish you all the best.

Kind Regards,

Sophie

Good support

Unfortunately I received a delivery where my gin had been removed. The Club sorted out a refund straight away but I decided to cancel my membership to avoid any repetition. Anna was very helpful in arranging to cancel and did her best to try and persuade me not to go! She was very helpful and friendly.

Got given a free taster box after…

Got given a free taster box after purchasing something on a different website, as it was free I decided to give it a go. However, they did not state anywhere that you were signing up for a subscription. I checked my emails and nothing was stated until I got an email a month later saying your box is on its way and then money was taken from my account. I disputed this and asked for the order to be cancelled and to be refunded. The customer service was awful saying I can’t get a refund and the subscription details is mentioned in FAQs why would I check that unless I had questions? I had no reminder emails of my subscription and was completely blindsided by it.

Chaney in customer service was more focused on getting me to stay and keep my membership than helping my issue. I checked their online returns policy which stated I would get refund if I returned the box sealed. I sent this to Chaney and she then mentioned yeh that’s fine, but still saying I hope you change your mind when you get the box! Then when I tried to return I was being told I had to do it all myself, no easy online system or returns code I had to pay £11 and return myself. I disputed this saying I’m not paying for a return for something I did not want or willingly sign up for. Chaney responded with you have to pay yourself. I have decided not to do this as it’s not worth my time.

Super unhelpful website, not easy to cancel membership had to end up emailing again then they eventually cancelled it. I am really disappointed in the poor customer service and lack of communication with regards to subscriptions

Hi Meghan, We're sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your experience.

We'd like to clarify that our free Taster Box is an introductory offer available when your Curious Drinker membership. We don't hide that this is a subscription, during sign-up it's explained multiple times that you're joining an ongoing membership, and after joining we send a series of welcome emails explaining how your membership works, including when your next box will be due.

Once an order has been processed, our fulfilment team begins preparing it for dispatch. As outlined in the terms and conditions agreed to during sign-up, any changes to an upcoming order need to be made before our monthly deadline (the 23rd). Unfortunately, once that deadline has passed, we're unable to stop the order from being shipped.

That said, members are never stuck with a box they don't want. As our returns policy states, unopened boxes can be returned for a refund. We ask customers to arrange the return using a courier of their choice and send us proof of postage, at which point we process the refund. We're sorry this wasn't the outcome you were hoping for, but this process ensures the box is safely on its way back before we issue a refund.

We're also sorry you felt our customer service was unhelpful. Chaney's intention was to make sure you were aware of all of your options, including keeping your membership if you wished, while also explaining the returns process available to you. We appreciate that this didn't come across as intended.

We value all feedback and are continually reviewing our customer journey and communications to ensure they're as clear as possible. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, and we wish you all the best.

Kind Regards,

Great Rums!

We had the Rum subscription. It was a present for my husband’s birthday! He absolutely loved it (and so did I 😜)
Every Rum we had was really nice and the cocktails in the magazine were always beautiful. The only reason we cancelled is because we’ve decided to stop drinking alcohol for the time being. We may restart the subscription again one day, though! Who knows.

There was an issue with my first order due to the courier, not the company. The team was very quick to respond via email and issue a refund. Then I called the company and spoke to Anna who dealt with another request very promptly. Great customer service

Cancellation Confusion

It was annoying having to call to cancel membership and have to listen to a lengthy recorded message, then have to explain my reasons for cancelling. I should be able to cancel through the app/online

Anna was great on the phone

Anna was great on the phone, my experience has been good with curious drinker. Would have been nice to be able to cancel online instead of a phone call.

Horrible customer journey

Awful service. Trying to cancel is a nightmare.

Then you want to refuse delivery but there is no return address which means you have to pay to return.

Avoid!
