Incredibly deceitful behaviour from Supernova Asbestos Surveys & Fire Safety
Everything about my interaction with this company rang of a scam. I was quoted a total of £360 inclusive of VAT for an Asbestos Management Survey of a small, three bedroom house. While looking for competing quotes I received an email in very poor english from one of their representatives stating:
"Good Afternoon
Trust you well today
Im just dropping you a quick courtesy email with reference to the quote we did for you. I was wondering whether you had any questions or challenges concerning this.
If its price or availability that’s holding you up please let me know as I’m sure we can agree a deal. I have special discounts today
Would love to get you business so if there is anything further I can do to get you booked in please let me know"
When I checked the price had been revised to £2,400. I assumed that this was a typo and that an extra zero had been included. When I asked for clarification on why the price had changed I was told:
"The original quotation was mis-priced. It has now been adjusted to the correct price.
We'd be happy to lower it to £1800 + VAT should we agree this week?"
Note that per sample prices of testing at a UKAS accredited lab are around £20 (inclusive of VAT) and a small house is likely to require perhaps 10 to 15 samples.
I was able to find another surveyor who would carry out the work for a cost close to the original £360 quote.
I do not recommend this company.
UPDATE: Supernova Asbestos Surveys & Fire Safety attempted to claim details in my review were false and flagged it; you can see their disproven claim below. Trustpilot reviewed evidence I provided (correspondence with Supernova's employees included in their supplied quotation) that proves my review is legitimate and reinstated this review.

We have checked our records in full. This enquiry reached us through our website on 19 June and our quote, reference 111239, was sent the same morninga quote for an asbestos management survey at the property. That was the first and only quote we gave. No other quote from Supernova exists. That quote did not come from us, our team or our website. We are happy for Trustpilot to review the full file.

I have since been contacted by the lead and received an apology for our experience, and offered a full refund and still perform the survey. An excellent example of customer service. Thank you to the team.
I first requested a quote on 27th May for an asbestos report on a property we are purchasing. We weren’t 100% on proceeding so didn’t accept the quote and book straight away. I then received 5 further emails over the next fortnight, promoting the service and offering various quotes. I accepted the quote and made payment on 11th June, and this is when I began to hit barriers. Nobody contacted me with an email or phone call to arrange the survey. I waited a few working days and then phoned the company to request to arrange the survey. I was told someone would call me back but then had to chase again a few days later. Eventually got in contact with the person handling our case, who informed me that the survey was being carried out last Monday (29th June). I then received a phone call on Thursday telling me that my case had been handed over, I stated that I believed the survey had been carried out Monday and was told there was nothing on our file to suggest this. I was then told they would contact the estate agents and arrange a new survey date, aiming for this Monday. The same day I then received a repeat invoice, despite £312 having already left my bank account on the 12th June. I emailed our case handler asking why the repeat invoice had been sent, and to request an email once the survey had been booked but I am yet to receive a response.
