The machine usually works but it is wi-fi dependant and that is the issue. To start the instructions were not very intuitive and we struggled to use it. Several attempts at using our own card had to... See more

I had to varify my account and I use my passport but it did not let me do a selfie. This was after I did a craft fair, but I needed to get my hands on the credit card payments and transfered into my other bank account, I have spent days on this ghastly set up and finally when I told them I was Autistic I went or them and they kept sending me links that did not work, and so eventually after insults and patroning rubbish from many agents I was finally able to get my money I S delighted.nimwill wait or a couple of days and then once in my account, close this account with sumup and I do have another and have nno problem with that one, and will use that one from now on. If there was an alternative I would use them, such as a till and a card reader like clover.

My six-year-old SumUp machine hit a glitch and even though it had passed its warranty (one year), Sum Up sent a new one free of charge in 2 business days. Plus it was unusually easy to use the online chat and actually get a sensible response

I have been unable to send invoices through SumUp for over a month, yet I was still billed for the service during that time.
What has been even more frustrating than the technical issue itself is the customer support. I contacted support asking for an update, a timeframe for resolution, and a credit for the period where the service has been unusable. Instead of receiving any meaningful help, I was told things like “I don’t have super powers” and that they “can’t promise nothing.”
No timeline. No escalation path. No direct contact with the technical or billing teams. No accountability.
I understand that support agents may not control development work, but when a core business function like invoicing is broken for over a month, customers deserve proper communication and fair billing treatment.
At this point I’m seriously considering moving to another provider because I cannot rely on a payment platform that leaves essential tools broken indefinitely while continuing to charge customers.
I'd give no stars if it were an option. Horrendous experience with the sum up business account. Payments that I received from customers sitting there without being able to access them or transfer them since Tuesday getting messages that transaction has failed and to contact support. I've been in an active chat with support for 50 hours now! .agents leave chat and then reappear questioning where I've gone at 5am! Pathetic customer service. As soon as I can get my money out I will be closing my account with sum up and never working with them again
The machines themselves work fine as long as you have a good wifi set up.
The trouble is customer service is also machines. Difficult to tell whether the chat bots are robots or actual humans, the answers are robotic and repetitive and unhelpful all the same.
Impossible to speak to customer services - even the phone line is robots that keep you on the line for ages before eventually sending you a text message with the same robotic answer - no matter how you try to get through. I don't believe they actually have any humans working there.
All fine until you have a problem. Have been locked out of my account for weeks because I just can't get through to anyone to help.
Have you ever asked yourself what the AI apocalypse would feel like but concluded that your imagination isn’t rich enough?
Queue in the SumUp client service robot: quizzically designed to be equal parts condescending ,frustrating, moronic and inept. Sending you into loops of impossible tasks that “you can easily do yourself”, back to other chats where another version of it is equally clueless and randomly hanging up on you if it doesn’t feel like answering questions. If it doesn’t understand what you want it gives you the option to speak in a different language, then hangs up. Like a turbocharged piece of automated bureaucracy it’ll make sure to ruin your day. Again and again. While you’re denied access to your money because of a mistake in the SumUp software.
Just a heads up if you’re thinking of getting this monstrosity.
