Broken windows, lack of toilet seat. Little to no urgency for maintenance issues. Lack of appliances provided at the start of the year (kettles, brooms etc), so had to buy my own.

I stayed in John Bell House for my first year at university, and I couldn't recommend this place enough!
They always put on amazing events nearly every evening, meaning that it was a lot easier to meet people from the building. The receptionist team were always on hand, cheerful and helpful whenever anything was needed!
I loved my whole year staying here!

I think student roost is great as it’s very central and secure to everything in belfast, however I feel they pick out silly marks and try and get you to pay silly money on top of a crazy rent charge.

The Aberdeen, Pittodrie St. accommodation is lovely. There are loads of nice spaces to chill with friends/ flatmates and all the staff are really friendly! And it’s in a great place, easy to get to the Uni or to the city centre by bus.
Only criticism would be the fire alarm, which seams to just go off randomly in the middle of the night, for no reason.

There were things that needed fixing like my window and bathroom light. The rooms themselves are quite spacious but £7,800 for one room is a bit insane. When my student finance went missing which was out of my control there was a lack of support to delay my rent payments until my sfe situation had been sorted out. All in all it was an ok experience. Hard to recommend cuz it is so expensive.

I had the worst experience with student roost. Firstly it’s way overpriced for what they have to offer and secondly they’re really unprofessional, they would contact me about rent arrears and I would send them the proof of payment to prove that I have no arrears but they would just ignore me and continue to borderline harass me by bombarding me with calls and emails and in person visits repeating the same thing and I would have to repeat myself over and over again. It’s only until I spoke to citizen’s advice that they informed me that I can start a case that student roost finally miraculously saw my money reflected in their system 😒 pretty “convenient” if you ask me. I wish I saved my money and my mental health and stayed somewhere else 🥱🥱 they’re just jarring honestly. As soon as my lease was over best believe I was out of there. If I could give them a quarter of a star I would because one star is overdoing it 🙄

Poor experience all round at Nottingham Two. Dirty when I moved in, maintenance issues which never got fixed despite dozens of complaints from myself and my flatmates. Some staff at reception were very nice but there were also very rude and unhelpful staff members. Don't stay here.

I stayed at Upperton Road Leicester from Sep 2023 to June 2024.
Most egregious first:
- Would only inform us of someone entering/needing access to our room 50% of the time
- Ant, silverfish and mouse infestation building wide for the entirety of the year Sep23 to June24 (and ongoing)
- 7 Washing machines for approx. 550 rooms. (a wash and a dry totals to £5.90 but 90% of the time you would need to do 2 dry cycles)
- Trash everywhere. No bins in communal areas like the postal room and people would throw rubbish out their windows into the trees and streets.
- My room was not cleaned at all prior to arrival (I booked well in advanced) and had broken things such as extractor fan, sink plug, damaged walls etc. and did not receive all the furniture the room was supposed to have.
- Hot water gradually disappeared from January to being non-existent in May
I was paying almost £700 a month, including laundry costs, just for Student Roost to never adequately try to resolved any of the problems. They appear to take a more lenient approach to problems.
I find that their price increase for the next academic year is outrageous.
The Maintenance team on the other hand, were the better part of this accommodation- they were kind, helpful and quick.
