I can't recommend Mr Lash and his team ( Tanya & Paul ) highly enough for the excellent treatment, care & service they provide.
They genuinely want you to be comfortable and reassured, before, during and after surgery.
Mr Lash is passionate and obviously enjoys his work. Achieving the best possible outcome for your vision is as rewarding for him as it will be for you.
Hopefully I haven't made any typos here but it is only 24hours since surgery ( cataract replacement with multi-focal lens ).

I have now had both of my eyes treated by Mr Lash and would highly recommend him.
In 2017 I developed an epiretinal membrane in my left eye and my vision was deteriorating. Mr Lash performed a vitrectomy peel and implanted a standard lens.
This June, I unfortunately needed the same procedure on my right eye, this time having an EMV lens implant .
On both occasions Mr Lash explained the procedure perfectly and even had a video on his website so that I knew exactly what to expect. At no point was I concerned about the outcome and I am extremely pleased with the results.
I have now said goodbye to contact lenses and glasses except for very small text. My vision is continuing to improve.
Mr Lash, his anaesthetist and his secretary are caring and professional. They put you completely at ease and answer any questions you may have openly and honestly.
Mr Lash is a man who clearly loves his job and is exceptionally good at it.

I recently had a second cateract op carried out by Mr Lash as I had a dodgy lens put in 9 years ago (nothing to do with Mr Lash). Surgery went well and my eyesight is great. I even phoned Mr Lash one evening as the air bubble put in as part of the surgery made my eyesight go fuzzy. He dealt with my minor panic quickly. Excellent customer service. Would definitely recommend.

I recently had a right cataract extraction plus scleral fixated intraocular lens performed in August this year. The procedure was not without risk, but was clearly explained by Mr. Lash beforehand.
The whole procedure went well, my sight is improving still and is now much better than it has been for many years.
I am well pleased with the result, and would recommend Mr. Lash to anyone requiring eye surgery.

I recently had eye surgery on my left eye by Stephen lash, I was suffering from a condition which caused distortion in my vision.
After surgery, the result has been fantastic and my vision in that eye is improving all the time.
Previously I had treatment on my right eye for a macular hole, and was extremely grateful for all you did for me. My vision in my right eye is also very good.

Went to Stephen Lash at Nuffield following Cataract surgery elsewhere which didn’t correct sight as expected. From the off Stephen was a pleasure to deal with, clearly highly knowledgeable & skilled but taking the time to understand the issue & to fully explain all options.
Recommended Bilateral YAG laser surgery first, prior to sulcoflex lens surgery & fullly explained the reasons why & the relevant expected outcomes.
Laser survey was amazingly quick & easy & the sulcoflex surgery was far less intrusive than I expected, carried out quickly, efficiently & painlessly, whilst being updated with progress as it took place which was very reassuring.
End result is that my distance eye sight is now excellent - exactly as Stephen had indicated - which will have a huge impact on day to day life.
It really does go without saying that I highly recommend Stephen Lash!

My story starts with a good friend and neighbour, who came over from Guernsey to Mr Lash for cataract surgery, he came back full of praise for him. So when it was my turn, there was only one person l would truly trust. All the lovely reviews are correct, he is wonderful, answers all my silly questions via his secretary Tanya quickly, even offered to do both eyes at the same time. Procedure day had a gin and tonic anesthetic from Paul and l don’t drink, in l went marked one and two above my eyes, Stephen chatted as he worked letting me know at what stage he was at, didn’t feel a thing. At the age of 81, after wearing glasses for the past 40 years, May only need driving/reading glasses when l have a check up with my optometrist.

Having found myself with epiretinal Membrame condition in one eye, I decided to research into the best person who could help me out. That turned out to be Stephen Lash. ERM is one of his specialities. Stephen performed lens replacements and vitrectomies, as well as repairing the membrame and faulty lens capsules in both eyes. Following recent training in the latter procedure, I felt incredibly lucky that he was able to sort that problem out quickly.
Stephen is an amazingly skilled eye surgeon. He listened very carefully to all my concerns and answered the many questions that I emailed, or presented him with on the treatment days. I was a very nervous patient, but he made sure that I had a good dose of the many "Chablis" anaesthetics on offer, to calm me down before surgery. It was painless and I was able to talk to him during both procedures.
His follow-up care is fantastic; making a personal telephone call the day after surgery. He is very re-assuring and gives you so much confidence. Just make sure that you are up early!
I recommend him to all my family and friends. It was a great comfort to me to know that I was in very capable hands. He has an amazing website full of explanations on all procedures, complete with videos to watch. His medical team were so friendly and helpful; I would also like to thank Claire for her support and assistance.
I am so thrilled and excited about the improvement in my vision, which should now last me a lifetime. I now no longer have a need for spectacles. I am truly grateful. It was so worth travelling from Bristol to be treated by such a brilliant, kind and thoughtful surgeon. Thank you, Stephen.

I had the good fortune to first meet Stephen Lash through the NHS following an accident to my right eye. I was particularly impressed by his human factors approach to surgery, use of a checklist and a clear check of understanding by the team of what was to be done.
My eye had been quite badly damaged and I elected for subsequent surgery to be done by him at Optegra in Fareham. The outcome is so amazing that I wanted my other undamaged (except by age) eye to be as good. It is now, and at 70 I am virtually spectacle free. I am thrilled with the results.

Exceptional treatment clearly carried out without fuss and with calm skill . The whole team exude confidence whilst being friendly and efficient . MrcStephen Lash , himself, inspires confidence in all around him . I am grateful and entirely impressed .

In June this year I was diagnosed with a full thickness macular hole in my right eye requiring urgent surgery as my eyesight was deteriorating and there was a short window to correct the problem. Mr Lash explained that the procedure required was a vitrectomy and cataract operation, also removal of any scar tissue. During the consultation he answered all my questions and showed me excerpts from a video so that I fully understood what the operation entailed. On the day although I was naturally anxious the team explained what was happening at every stage, the atmosphere was calm and I felt fully confident. Mr Lash called me the following morning and there was someone available at the end of a phone during the recovery period should I need them. Pre-op my driving vision was really poor, peoples faces appearing to be 'caving in' plus computer work and reading were really difficult due to my reduced central vision. A few months post-op the results are remarkable and my vision has improved dramatically, almost back to normal. I will be forever grateful to Mr Lash, the skills he has and the intervention he was able to perform on my right eye to give me my sight and quality of life back. I would strongly recommend him to anyone who needs ophthalmic surgery

Last summer I had defective opacified lens replaced in both eyes – a somewhat daunting and scary undertaking or so I felt at that time. Additionally, I was also being treated for Glaucoma in both eyes with one eye more seriously affected than the other. However, I was hugely reassured by Mr Stephen Lash at my consultation by his calm, matter of fact yet professional confidence, that replacement lens surgery could be successfully achievable under his care.
Yes, whilst a problem did occur with one of the lens exchanges (suprachoroidal haemorrhage) the exchange went ahead and was successful. However, there was a possibility that a further operation (Vitrectomy Peel) may become necessary at a later stage. That unfortunately did arise and again, Stephen Lash stepped in and performed a successful operation in August 2022. As a result, I have now achieved nearly 20/20 vision in one eye with the other eye providing some good visual support.
I cannot praise or thank Stephen enough. I will be forever grateful.

I received eye surgery undertaken by Mr Lash in March 2022. The surgery included removal of the epiretinal membrane in one eye and cataract replacement. The procedure was very carefully planned and executed and my eyesight is much improved. I wouldn't hesitate to use Mr Lash's services again if it were required.

I have received the highest standard of care from Mr Lash and his team . Having had three operations this year , my anxiety and uncertainty that I could be fixed was mounting . However each time , Mr Lash has been reassuring , honest , exceptionally calm and highly professional . It clearly matters to him that he achieves for you the best sight he possibly can . I am immensely grateful to him for his skill and willingness to do the job he does !

Stephen Lash recently conducted vitrectomy surgery and scleral haptic fixation in my right eye. Prior to surgery, my vision was pretty bad as the lens had opacified. All aspects of his work- from initial consultation to surgery and post operative care, are high standard. I was very nervous due to the complexity of my situation but now my sight is SO much better! I cannot praise him enough. His secretary, Tanya, is worthy of mention as her responses to my many questions have been speedy, informative and reassuring. Thank you to both.

Mr Lash explained the whole procedure thoroughly so that I felt totally confident. The procedure was totally pain free both during the surgery and the following days of recovery. All I can say is having been short-sighted all my life this is nothing short of a miracle! To wake up every morning and be free of specs is still astonishing me 4 months on.

I would highly recommend Steven Lash. He rescued the vision in my left eye by repairing a bad retinal tear and reattaching the macular - which had become fully detached. I was completely blind in my left eye before his intervention and now my sight has been restored. Thank you so much Steven. I am so very grateful.

I had a replacement lens procedure in 2015 and unfortunately one of the lenses was found to be faulty this year so Mr Lash was consulted about carrying out the replacement. From start to finish he made me feel very comfortable with what he was going to do. He explained the risks but although initially feeling a little scared he allayed any fears I had. Procedure was carried out on the 17th June and the results are fantastic. I would not have believed my sight would be this good again without spectacles, both long distance and close up.
