SpotOn GPS Fence gives dogs the freedom to roam and owners the confidence that comes with truly reliable containment. Designed, engineered, and supported in the USA, SpotOn is the original GPS-powered virtual dog fence and continues to set the standard for accuracy, reliability, and performance. At the core of SpotOn is patented True Location™ GPS technology, which corrects for common GPS issues like drift and signal interference. With the launch of the new Nova Edition, that technology takes a major leap forward—leveraging best-in-class hardware, industry-leading accuracy, and all-new smart features to deliver even more consistent containment in real-world conditions, based on over 5 million hours of real-world dog movement data. Using the SpotOn app, you can create custom fences in minutes—no wires, no digging, no maintenance, and no subscription. Set boundaries as small as 1/3-acre or as vast as you need, even in remote areas with heavy tree cover. As your dog approaches a boundary, the collar delivers clear, fair alerts through tones and vibration that trigger precisely when they should. You can also track your dog’s location in real time, right from your phone. Backed by real human support, SpotOn is built for people who want dependable technology, thoughtful training support, and freedom that works in the real world.

I can rarely connect to the collar. Always says signal not sent, weak connection on collar, no internet connection or some other message. Would not recommend.

We have a very smart Goldendoodle, and when my wife wanted to install a half-acre fenced backyard runner, I wasn’t thrilled with the idea. Instead, we decided to try the SpotOn collar, and it has worked out extremely well. Our dog trained quickly and adapted to it better than we expected. He rarely crosses the boundaries, and after three years of use, we’ve been very satisfied with the system overall.
The only challenge we’ve noticed is that the boundary line can sometimes shift by about 5 feet in either direction. We understand GPS technology isn’t perfectly precise, so some variation is expected, but if there’s a way to improve boundary consistency or reduce that movement, it would make an already great product even better. Overall, we’ve had a very positive experience.

The fence is great except for for one thing - it does not even faze an excited 100lb Belgian Malinois! He blasts through the fence so fast the GPS doesn't even realize he has broken the fence boundary until several minutes later.

Absolutely AMAZING product! 10/10
I would literally buy another if it somehow broke. Worth the small investment to know my dog is gerranteed safe.

For the most part, the SpotOn Nova collar is great. Our dog quickly adjusted to it and learned his boundary.
There are a few flaky things about this collar and the APP. Since beginning using it on March 8, 2026, there have been several days of over 24 hours of activity recorded. 27:11, 31:46, 48:10, 27:42, and 26:00 on March 8, March 19, March 30, April 9, and May 21 respectively.
On May 19 there were two false escape records recorded. I know these were false because that the time of the "escape" the dog was in the house sleeping on my wife's lap. There was another one recorded last night, again whilst the dog was in the house.
A few evenings ago, the dog was wearing the collar and sleeping in a chair when the boundary alarm went off. My wife heard it and the dog came running into the kitchen. This really confused him and made him not want to go back into the living room.
I have rebooted (restarted) the collar and reloaded the fence after the false alarm. The last false escape record happened after the restarting and reloading.
As part of this review, SpotOn sent some advice to resolve these problems. I have implemented this and hopefully the problem is resolved.
I have received some excellent customer service and some that was not so great, I guess depending on which agent responds. I wish I had made note of this.

The collar is a wonderful piece of advanced technology and very impressive. It was easy to train our dog and the fence has passed the tests of major distractions, such as preventing her from going after a deer outside the boundary. Customer service is really excellent with almost immediate response, and sometimes needed. We added tracking and I find that when we want tracking, we have to reset the collar. My main concern is the weight of it as it is heavy, 1/2 a pound and with all that technology in it, it makes sense that it would have some heft. I would caution people with smaller dogs to think about that weight on their dog's neck. It is wonderful being able to go visit someone or go to a cottage and set up a fence and relax knowing she is safe. And to have her safe at home without worrying about her approaching the road.

An Aussie and a goldendoodle, they both learned quickly and are mindful most of the time still have to work on bolting outside the perimeter when people or animals are walk by
I have recommended to others

Customer service is amazing. My doggo's tested their escape skills twice and were apprehended in mere moments safely

Our dog is very sound sensitive and could not handle the sounds. We couldn't get it to go less than 1. We returned the collar.

The day my dog ran out into the road after cars almost getting hit at the place we just moved to, was the day I ordered Spot On. We have a 22 pound mini aussie who loves to heard, but also does not do well on a leash. We wanted him to be able to roam with peace of mind! We were concerned about him being smaller and collar being hefty but he does great with it and doesn’t seem to bother him! After training him on it for 2 weeks as the videos suggested, it’s saved him twice now from running into the road at a school bus. The only thing that seems to be meh about it is sometimes the line of where it beeps moves a bit. With the time and proper training he responds well to the beeps as a high drive dog. So grateful for this product!

First off, thank you for wanting feedback. This would be a much better product if the fence did not move up to 10+ feet. The collar design is poorly made and somewhat cheap.
This product may be better suited for use in a large open field where movement is less of a concern. At this point, I can’t say I would recommend this product.

It works so well and has been completely worth the investment! Way cheaper than installing a fence. We use it at home and in other places we visit often, and it gives us peace of mind knowing she won’t run off. Our brittany spaniel learned how to use it so quickly, too! I also love that there is no additional monthly subscription to use the basic features.

We have had our collar for three years now. Best investment we made. We love that if we have any issue we can call and talk to a real person.

The first collar i received was not working correctly..this was very frustrating. When I realized it was collar and not me, I contacted right away. The most amazing staff walked me though some testing of collar and stayed on phone with me following step by step. When we realized there was issue with collar, they immediately sent me a new one! Very happy with services! Cant wait to get started!

Great product! My dog and I love the freedom it affords us on our 2 acre property. I live in town so it is important to stay contained. Never has past set boundaries. The only reason not 5 stars is I have to reestablish connection at least once a week it takes 10+ minutes sometimes. I have lost connection 2 or 3 times during use but my dog is acclimated to the boundary and stayed in.

I have still not been able to get the collars to work! At all. They never beep or anything waste of money they have not worked since day 1.
