Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 50 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many customers expressed significant frustration with the subscription service, finding it extremely difficult to cancel. They frequently reported issues with payments, including billing discrepancies, charges occurring after cancellation, and concerns regarding payment method updates. Reviewers also consistently criticized the customer service, describing it as unresponsive and unhelpful when trying to resolve these issues. A small number of people were satisfied with the product itself, mentioning enjoyment from trying snacks from other countries or appreciating the customer service team's efforts to help when issues arose. However, a larger portion of customers found the product quality to be poor, with some receiving stale, melted, or uninteresting snacks, or items that did not align with their specified allergy restrictions.

If we could give negative stars

If we could give negative stars, we would. Totally avoid this company, Snack Crate. Seems to be a scam. We ordered $50 worth of candy on November 22, it is now mid-December, and nothing! No word from Snack Crate, no email, nothing. There is no customer service number, they do not provide a tracking number, do not answer emails. There is a "chat" feature on their website, which does not work; another scam. How does this company stay in business?

Hello there, Robert! So sorry for the wait on your snacks. If your order includes some of the snacks that we have on pre-order then this is likely why your crate hasn't shipped out just yet. I can confirm that we will send you an email when your crate ships out, and it will include the tracking information. Until then, you can view the status of your snacks on your page whenever you like!

You are correct that we do not have phone support, and we do have a live-chat option, but we had to deactivate it for a bit to get caught up on the exorbitant amount of emails that we have received recently due to the busy Holiday season. We do apologize for the wait, and that we've been a tad hard to reach. We are a small team here at Snackcrate, and we are working hard to get back to everyone ASAP. It is taking us a bit to get caught up, but you'll get a response very soon :)

Hello there, Karen! Thanks for bringing this matter to our attention. I'm terribly sorry that your November snacks went to the wrong address, but I'm happy to hear that we were able to get that fixed up for you. I can confirm that the December crates haven't begun shipping yet, so we'll be sure to make sure that crate goes to the right place for you when it does! As for the long wait on your email, we do apologize for that as well. We are a small team here at Snackcrate, and we are working hard to get back to everyone ASAP. We've received a larger-than-average number of emails recently, and it is taking us a bit to get caught up. You'll get a response very soon :)

Terrible company

I signed up for a crate on a black friday special and had nothing but problems. The snacks themselves were not worth the price of the box and most of them were stale. I was hoping to get a refund and cancel my subscription but was informed that it wasn't possible. Apparently the only way to get out subscriptions even when unsatisfied is to pay more money to the company, they called it "fair exit option". Whats fair about paying another $30 to a company that scammed me and refuses to refund an unhappy customer? Definitely a shady and scammy company, I've used other snack subscriptions in the past and never had any issues with my orders or ending subscriptions whenever I wanted. Save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere.

Hi Kassidy,

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. All SnackCrate purchases are backed by our “You’ll Love It” guarantee — so if your snacks were less than perfect, we’re always here to help make it right.

The Fair Exit option is something we offer to customers who sign up for a 6 or 12-month plan and decide not to continue after their first box. It’s simply the difference between the discount you received for choosing a longer-term plan and the regular one-month price.

I see from your correspondence that you said there was some confusion about the monthly cost of the subscription, and that was the reason you indicated for wanting to cancel early. You didn’t mention anything about stale snacks or express dissatisfaction with what you received, and you didn’t request a refund. You simply asked to cancel your future orders due to the cost.

I encourage you to reach out to us directly at happy@snackcrate.com to tell us about those stale snacks from your starter crate — even though you’ve since canceled your subscription, we'd still love to hear more about what missed the mark so we can help resolve any issues you had.

Happy Snacking! ✨

I purchased a one time box as a gift

I purchased a one time box as a gift. I was supposed to be charged $35.99 as this was the total when paying with Apple Pay. Once I received the apple notification, the final charge was $44.99. This was not tax. I wrote the company via their email address and was informed that I had upgraded the box hence the additional $9. This was not the case. If I had, it should have shown in my total at time of payment. It did not. Their solution was for me to return the box and exchange it for the lesser priced one. It’s a gift being sent to someone in another area. I’m not asking them to return it. I decided to let it go but I feel that they need to be reviewed as this is a deceptive business practice. I will not purchase from them again and want others to beware of them as well.

Horrible company. Horrible customer service. After realizing that there was a problem with the charges, I tried to cancel. It was an hour after I made the order. They refused.

I got the run around.

I contacted my bank to remove the charge.

Hello there, Elizabeth! We're sorry to hear that you had an issue with your payment. In the email exchange, we explained that one of your 2 subscriptions was more expensive due to the optional upgrade of the drink being added. We can't typically cancel subscriptions once you've gone through the full process and signed up, but we ended up canceling the more expensive subscription for you as a show of good faith. I understand this resolution wasn't exactly what you were expecting, and I do apologize that we were unable to cancel both subscriptions for you. If you have any trouble with your account or with your snacks, please do not hesitate to reach out and let us know. We're always more than happy to help.

As for the cancellation, if you selected and agreed to a 6 or 12-month commitment plan in exchange for a discount or promotion, that would be why you are unable to cancel early. In the terms of the subscription, you agree to complete the full plan length, and that is the only way to qualify for the promo. We also have a month-to-month option in which you can cancel at any time. If you have more questions about this, just let us know as well :)

Overpriced box full of cheap nestle crap

Overpriced box full of cheap nestle junk. Seriously, every item in the box was a nestle product that tasted exactly the same as...you guessed it..the nestle products HERE, where i live. Decided to cancel after the first few boxes because of the garbage quality, but couldn't because they dont provide that option online; only renew or "pause" which doesnt actually pause.

I thankfully used a virtual card through my bank when signing up and only had to deactivate the card. They attempted to charge me twice before finally stopping.

Now, nearly 6 months later, they are once again trying to charge my virtual card that declines the charge every single time, but that doesnt seem to stop them from trying at least once a day...EVERYDAY.

Garbage company.

If you want a good snackbox, try universal yums. Ive used them off and on for years and have never had a single complaint. Snackcrate on the other hand....your company is crap and i hope it fails.

Hello there Bat, thanks for your honest feedback! We take great pride in the quality of authentic snacks we procure from around the world, but we understand that everyone has different tastes. If you selected and agreed to one of our commitment plan subscriptions, then this is why you were unable to cancel early. What you canceled was the renewal of your term once the initial plan length has been completed. For those plans, you agree to complete the full term length in exchange for a promotional discount or offer. This is why we continue to bill your account; however, if you reach out to our support team, we do have a Fair Exit Option if there's nothing else we can do to change your mind about continuing to snack with us. Additionally, the pause feature on your account only pauses you for one month and then resumes the following. We are more than happy to work with you if you contact the support team, and we hope you have a great day :)

I am giving it a one star because there…

I am giving it a one star because there is no place for a zero. This company is a fraud. They never sent my box - which by the way I was tricked into signing up for. I never intended to sign up for it. Then I never received it. Then they ignored my complaints and demand for refund - initially. Then when they finally started responded they lied to my bank saying I receive it. They lied saying it was left at my door - but I did not use my home address. I used a UPS Mailbox address which means they would have been logged in if it was actually delivered to me. It was not. Now I have to take them to court to get my money back after multiple demands for a refund! To prove they are a scam, I sent a final demand for a full refund and they blocked my email. I also found online where other people had the same issue with them.

Hey there, Freda. We are saddened by your overall experience while you were subscribed with us. As already explained over email multiple times, we shipped out your snacks to the address provided. As per the tracking information, the carrier reported that your snacks were delivered successfully, but we completely understand that you did not receive them. We fully intended to and were more than happy to resolve this for you. However, before we were able to, you disputed the payments with your bank, claiming fraudulent charges, leaving them to conduct an investigation. While the dispute is active, we are physically unable to issue any refunds to you as the funds are held by the bank during this process. We also simply submitted our evidence to the bank to prove that the charges were not fraudulent, nothing more. As we've explained via email, we're unable to issue a refund for an order that was successfully marked as delivered to the address you verified. However, we did provide a refund for the subsequent order that was canceled due to the payment being disputed by your bank. This was done as an act of good faith since your bank closed the dispute in our favor.

Impossible to cancel. Keep taking money.

It was fun for a moment, although it really doesn’t feel like you get what is advertise. My biggest issue with the company has been how difficult it has been to cancel the subscription. I have never had such a difficult time trying to cancel a subscription and trying to get my money back for products I did not want. I emailed many times over the months and explain to them that I did not want a subscription anymore that I no longer wanted to pay for it and they continue to send the box and take my money $42 a month and they kept asking to confirm the cancellation that I had to wait until the subscription was over at the end of the six months. And I continue to explain to them that I no longer wanted it and I no longer wanted to pay for it and they made it exceedingly difficult. I finally just had to cancel my card so they could no longer take my money. That entire experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I would recommend anybody trying a product like this should go to universal Yums instead.

Edit: Since I can't reply back to Snack Crates Reply: Yes we came to an agreement and were able to cancel AFTER I let you guys know TWICE that I had canceled my card and you would no longer be able to get any money from me regardless of the cancellation or not. Of course, you're going to cancel then as you're unable to get any money.
I see this is an issue for a lot of people that review your products. Perhaps in order to attain better customer retention, this policy should be reviewed, because it seems like you are losing a lot of customers due to this factor. Just my opinion though.

Hey there Christyn, we hate to hear that your time with Snackcrate wasn't as you had hoped. In regard to canceling your subscription, if you sign up with us and choose to receive one of the discounts or promotions that we are currently running for your first crate, then in exchange, you agree to complete the full length of the longer-term commitment plans that we offer. We also have month-to-month subscription options that you are able to cancel at any time, but they aren't eligible for those promotions or discounts. We also have a last resort option if there's nothing we can do to salvage the relationship, and we are happy to work with you to allow you to opt out.

The BEST snack subscription service out there

Don’t listen to the negative reviews — almost all of them are from people who tried to scam the system and got caught doing it so they’re mad and nasty. Yes, SnackCrate offers several different kinds of plans to choose from when you sign up. Some of those plans are commitment-based, where you’re signing up for 6 months or a year, and if you do that you are locking yourself into that amount of time. If you only want to try it once, you need to pick the monthly plan option so you can cancel right away, but after the first box you won’t want to cancel! They send you real authentic snacks from a different part of the world every month and it’s a really cool experience. It’s so much more than just snacks. And the customer service team will do anything they can to help you out if something goes wrong. One time I had a bag of chips that busted open and a candy bar that was melted inside the box. I was on vacation when it got delivered so I didn’t notify customer service until about a week later. Didn’t matter, they resolved the issue quickly and efficiently, no hassle just great friendly service. They are truly a snack service that cares about your experience, and they work hard to ensure you enjoy every single box. Yeah things go wrong sometimes and boxes could be late, but the customer service team makes it all worth the wait. Don’t knock it until you give them a shot – YOU WON’T REGRET IT!!

SCAM SCAM SCAM

They advertised a promotion so I looked through their terms and FAQs to make sure I wasn't committing to anything, especially for something I'd never tried before. Nowhere in the site or during the sign up process did it indicate that it was for a commitment, so I continued for the promotional box. Not long after receiving the promotional box, I was charged for the next box. I got on my account to cancel because my family and I weren't impressed with the contents and country information provided(we've been doing Universal Yums for years and LOVE it, and were just trying this to see how it compared) and there was nowhere to cancel. It said I had 10 boxes left and there was a place to "pause subscription". I tried to hit pause so I could get to the bottom of what was going on and saw in tiny print at the bottom of the page that no edits would take place until September of 2026. I immediately attempted to contact customer service, got a response back 2 days later and after the 2nd email and was treated as if I "accidentally" signed up for the wrong promotional box. They offered to cancel, but not without upcharging the promotional box to full price. Terrible experience all around. STEER CLEAR OF THIS FRAUDULENT COMPANY. THEY HAVE 112 COMPLAINTS SIMILAR TO THIS WITH BBB. THE ONLY THING I DID WRONG WAS NOT RESEARCH THE COMPANY PRIOR TO SIGNING UP FOR THIS PROMOTION.

Hi Emily,

We’re sorry to hear you were disappointed with your experience. We appreciate you sharing your feedback, and we'd like to clarify how this promotion works for anyone reading.

Our current $10 starter box promotion is offered exclusively with our 6 and 12-month plans. This is clearly stated during sign-up alongside our monthly option, which is not tied to any offers but can be canceled at any time.

When a customer chooses a commitment plan, redeems a discount on the first box, and then requests to cancel before it has even been delivered, we’re happy to honor the cancellation—but the first box reverts to the standard monthly rate. This ensures the promotion is applied fairly to all customers who complete their plans as agreed.

We understand this may not have been the experience you were hoping for, and we regret that our snacks weren’t the right fit for your family. The SnackCrate team remains committed to being transparent with our offers and treating all customers consistently.

Terrible Company - Run

**EDIT You always have an excuse. Customs. Storms. Stuck on boat. So that response doesn’t work for me. I don’t want to pause. I told you that. I want to cancel and not have to pay you $40 for the promotion. Since you aren’t holding your end up of the contract, yet I am.**

If I could give zero I would!!!! Run!!!!! This company will charge you on time every month, and every month you don’t get your box on time. It’s September 18 and I haven’t even received August, paid for August, and September and nothing to show for either month. The tracking on August shows ‘label created September 11” 😡 I did the promotion and now if I want to cancel they want $40 for literally nothing. To ‘cover the cost of their promotion’ so I hold up my end of this contract, paying every month. But you don’t have to hold up your end of the contract? That’s asinine. Annnnd I’m stuck paying because I refuse to give you $40 FOR NOTHING

Hello there Dana! We are terribly sorry for the delay on your August crate. Sadly, we ran into some complications due to port closures when Hurricane Erin came through our area. This is not meant to be an excuse, just the reality of shipping snacks internationally. I'm happy to report that your August crate is currently in transit, and the tracker should update in the next day or so :)

Additionally, at this time, there will be no issues shipping September on time, and those will start to go out once all of the outstanding August crates do. Also, we do bill your account automatically on the 1st, but if you ever want to hold off on billing until you receive a previous month's crate, just reach out to us, and we are happy to pause your subscription!

Try Universal Yums or anyone else!

This is hands down the worst subscription service to ever grace the earth. Don't walk, RUN, as far away as you possibly can. Go with Universal Yums.

Every single month, they have some delay or another. I understand things happen, but man this company has the absolute worse luck, according to them. When you reach out, they will reply with the same generic diatribe, but will NEVER even attempt to make things right. Here it is mid September, and they are blaming hurricane Erin for the late boxes this month. Even though every other international order ive made (6 and counting) has come through just fine and without delay. Whoever is in charge of ordering, logistics or both, should consider another career path. The customer service team, while fairly quick to respond, basically just tells you whatever the delay is this month, and to hang in there, instead of doing anything for the customer. If I treated my customers this way, I would either not have any, or be refunding everything constantly. Do better Snackcrate, or get out of the way for the other services who manage to deliver on their promises.

This is the worst thing I've ever Joined. First someone said they canceled their subscription, however I was told you have to complete your entire subscription. I paid a day late and instead of getting it in the first week I won't receive it until the week of the 15th. Be advise to watch your bank account for additional charges. They're not trustworthy and don't care about their customers at all

Paid for my first box and was excited to try interesting new international snacks. My box arrived and I was extremely disappointed to find that it had boring American snacks in it, including three pieces of salt water taffy that were completely melted and inedible. I also got a bag of average BBQ chips I could have bought for $1 anywhere. They make it incredibly difficult to cancel your subscription. If they had just been more transparent (or sent me a halfway decent box), I wouldn't be writing this. I'd take the loss as my own fault. My problem is that they're using shady business tactics. They purposely hide info about how you must commit to your subscription in the fine print. They distract you with big colorful messaging throughout the entire signup process that you can "cancel anytime." And then they make you pull your hair out looking for a cancellation button that literally doesn't exist. When you finally give up and go to talk to someone, they make you feel guilty for wanting a refund/cancellation on a product that was not at all what you expected. After I complained enough, they charged me $39 to cancel (this fee is not stated at all anywhere in their fine print - trust me, I learned my lesson and checked). So in the end, I paid $45 for a few underwhelming American snacks, melted taffy, and a headache. I know many companies who would have listened to my VALID complaints and done better to make things right. I wasn't even asking for my money back. I was asking to cancel future orders. They wouldn't be losing any money by letting me cancel for free. So congrats, you got your money, hope your greed was worth another bad review and customer who will tell everybody they know to stay away.
