I would never use this company again

I would never use this company again. We used VIP cars to rent a car in Corfu - they subcontract the booking to a local supplier Sigma Cars who are 100% fraudulent. Sigma Cars took £800 from our credit card for "fake' damage to the car during rental. We diligently videoed the car upon collection and when we were showed the "alleged" damage we were able to prove it was there previously. At this point the member of staff found some marks to the car - Underneath the car!! Unbelievable. They were aggressive and intimidating knowing our return flight was imminent. VIP were very unhelpful and as my contract was with them I expected a refund due to this fraudulent act. They refused and told me to take the matter up with Sigma Cars! Obviously that was heading nowhere. Find another provider and do not use VIP Cars or Sigma cars.

Horrible experience during return

Horrible experience during return, making up scratches and charging 500€ each... They are not willing to provide invoice for the repairs, hence Im unable to claim money back from my insurance... Avoid if possible!!!

Avoid this company at all costs

Avoid this company at all costs. We rented a 10year old Citroen c1 which was riddled with faults including front seat belts completely inoperative, warning lights on the dash & bulbs not working. Every single panel on the car was full of filler and appeared to have been painted by a blind child with a roller all of which we captured on the video they made us take before driving away. Immediately on return of the vehicle we was met by a very aggressive woman who immediately started pointing out pre-existing damage to the vehicle that was clearly in our video but she just rubbished it off and told us she couldn’t see it. We were then forced to sign a form and admit liability to the tune of €550 which she laughed off and said all this could have been avoided by paying €20 gold coverage (which we were never offered) fortunately we had excess insurance so we’re only £18 out of pocket but this woman would have found any issue possible to ensure denying you of your €1100 deposit. She was the most disgustingly abusive person I’ve ever come across and she didn’t care that she was upsetting the children with us as long as she got her money. Avoid at all costs honestly we have rented cars in several countries around the world and have never ever been treated like this. We were also charged a €35 late fee as our plane was delayed and as we arrived at midnight our video was a little dark but all damage completely visible but she was hell bent on denying us our deposit back. Shameful and all the other staff members were literally apologising to us about her behaviour. Avoid at all costs as looking at the reviews were not the only ones this apparent common practice has been carried out on. Go to a reputable hire firm and pay a few pounds more

AVOID! Fraudsters!

AVOID!!

We had the same experience as several other reviewers here.

The car was in poor condition when we picked it up. It was dirty, scratched all over, and the clutch wasn’t great. Staff made no attempt to note the existing damage, and a sign at the desk made it clear this was entirely the customer’s problem. There was also a warning light on the dashboard; when I asked about it, I was waved off with “it’s fine, don’t worry about it.” We didn’t feel we had much choice but to just get on with our holiday.

Returning the car, we were told to pull into a shaded bay in a corner of the car park. The man running the inspection immediately claimed we’d caused several of the scratches and dents, and tried to hit us with a cleaning charge despite the state the car was in when we got it. Luckily I’d taken plenty of photos at pick-up, in full sun unlike the shadowy drop-off spot, which clearly showed the damage he was pointing to was already there.

While he was talking to me, his colleague slipped round to the front of the car. They then flagged a large scratch on the front bumper. We hadn’t touched it, and the location of the scratch was odd. Looking back, it seems pretty clear the colleague put it there himself.

We were taken inside and asked to sign for a €500 deposit. We were told the repair would cost about €30 and that we’d get a call the next working day to refund the difference. That call never came. We couldn’t get hold of them for months. We did eventually get the money back, but only by going through our credit card company for a chargeback.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Hi , just a quick warning to people considering getting a hire car from SIGMA RENTALS/ GO CAR/ FLEXIWAYS.
Just returned one today and after parking it was met by a member of staff who asked for the keys and told me to go into the office to complete the return. I did a quick walk round the car and it was fine no scratches or dents. As I went into the office I noticed the man that had taken my keys moved the car to a different location. The lady in the office then said as I hadn’t taken out their insurance they would have to examine the car ( I have my own excess insurance )
We both went outside to the cars new location and she began her inspection . I noticed the man who had moved the car also started to examine the car from the other side ( passenger side ). He then went to the back as the lady I was with asked me for photos of what she said were scratches on the drivers side, I now know that this was to distract me , when we went round to the passenger side I noticed immediately a very obvious scratch on the rear passenger side bumper about 4 “ long , clean and obviously a deliberate act caused by a sharp instrument which had been done after I had parked the car .
The staff member who had just walked past it never mentioned it .
Things turned a bit ugly from there they already had my money , I had left a deposit covering the excess. I obviously disputed their allegations but had to agree to paying €550 before they would give me the documents I needed to pursue my claim with my excess insurers.
I didn’t have time to do anything else as I needed to catch my flight and they wouldn’t take me to the airport until I had signed.
I didn’t video or photograph the car on return I didn’t think they would stoop so low to damage it after I had delivered it so they could keep my deposit.
I cannot prove this which they know, but I don’t think they should get away with it .
I will get my money back from my insurers but this is so wrong and needs to be stopped.
If any one else has had a similar experience please contact me and hopefully we can build a case against them.
In the mean time
AVOID. .

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

If you do one thing avoid renting a car from this bunch of crooks. They will find some damage when you return the car. In my case they scratched the rear bumper while I was waiting in the office to return the key!!

Scam

AVOID this company. On return of the car they found a tiny scratch, and charged us 550 Euros. They were supposed to repair it (estimate 60 Euros) and refund the difference, but then ignored emails and phone calls. It took 4 months and me getting the booking agents involved before they finally produced an invoice for the repair (which came out as 550 Euros). Lots of other reviews online say they had the same experience so I'm almost certain they are running a scam.

NEVER rent a car from this company…

NEVER rent a car from this company which also trades as Acarent they are a bunch of crooks. When I returned my hire car to them last Friday they deliberately scratched the rear bumper whilst I was waiting to be served in their office (I had been directed to a parking bay out of sight of the Office) and I had to sign a damage form and let them block 550 Euros on my credit card before I could get a lift from them to the airport to catch my flight. Absolute rogues and many others on Facebook and TripAdvisor have suffered the same abuse
