TERRIBLE Experience

TERRIBLE Experience
I have moved internationally over nine times and can easily say this is the worst inexperienced movers I have come across.

To start, their crew were mainly loaders not packers, they did not know how to handle sensitive items or delicate furniture, the first thing they did was negotiate their tips. I paid over TWENTY THOUSAND Dollars for Professional packing and care, and what I got instead was a terrible job and bad attitude.

The did not only break our irreplaceable china items, but they also scratched/broke my unique furniture, paintings, lamp shades and valuables. I had to guide their inexperienced crew on how to wrap and pack items and provided them with warping foam and wood packing crates to protect my items, yet the result was a disaster. To add pain to our injury, the crew members insisted on their negotiated tip and the company claimed that they needed a bigger truck as the volume was larger than what they anticipated and asked for an extra amount of $1,650 on top what they received already. I was obliged to pay to release my shipment. When we received the shipment, I shocked to see that they sent the wooden crates which I provided them for protection of my items EMPTY, we also received two boxes which belonged to another client and we had missing items which they stated they could not locate.

I sent them over 30 pictures of the broken/damaged items and their customer care person asked me to contact the insurance company as they could not help. No apologies No regrets but simply a careless attitude.

We are literally in pain seeing our valuable which we owned for over 25 years and have been moving with them from country to country DAMAGED.

I will NEVER RECOMMED Shleppers

Surprise charges + easily avoidable damage

I picked Shleppers because I'd had a good experience with them in 2013, but this was like a completely different company. Will never use them again and strongly advise against it. I paid extra because they offered a live video estimate using FaceTime, unlike other movers who would've required me to do my own detailed inventory, including counting all the boxes after they're packed, which is difficult if you need to book ahead of time and can't live out of a suitcase for 2 weeks. They showed up, started complaining that the estimate was inaccurate, and I agreed that they should call headquarters. Then, they started the move, half-loaded the truck, and declared that I would have to pay 25% more in order to finish the move! Of course I was over a barrel at this point – I thought I was paying their higher prices to avoid this situation! On top of that, they put a big hole in a leather sofa and offered my $35 to replace it, since I hadn't paid even MORE money. No better than the worst of NYC movers.

Upcharge for extra boxes, but they were all half empty!!!

Shleppers moved us from NYC to Westchester and only when the truck was a few minutes from our new house did they tell me they needed to charge an extra $775 because they used more boxes than they planned. When they had all my worldly possessions hostage I had no choice but to agree. I only found out after they left that the boxes were half full, some even less than half, so of course they used more boxes.
Other fun facts about the move, the movers got into a fight with the super over their refusal to let an elderly resident use the elevator and the super kicked them out, so I had to finish moving the rest of my belongings out of our Manhattan apartment myself.
When I complained to the company they responded, and I thought they had reversed the charges, but they apparently didn't. When I complained again they said that it was my fault for not complaining sooner, and then refused to help.

If I could give them zero stars I…

If I could give them zero stars I would. Broke a number of nice quality pieces of furniture, left my silverware in the old home, boxes everywhere - clothes in the dining room?? My mattress was not wrapped and has mysterious black marks up the side that can’t come clean.

Easiest, most efficient move ever.

I'm not one to write reviews but I was so impressed by this company that here I am. Schleppers managed to move me last minute in the pouring rain. Everyone I talked to was SO nice and willing to help. Not only were they on time and took good care of my things, the 3 guys who moved everything for me were the best. They were so upbeat and fun to talk to, that it made the usual dreadful moving process way more enjoyable. I truly can not sing my praises about this company enough. I will forever recommend them to all family in friends in the Los Angeles/San Diego area. They were all complete gems to work with and made my moving experience from LA to SD a breeze.

DO NOT USE. LOST ALL MY CLOTHING.

DO NOT USE. Would give ZERO stars if I could. While we had a good prior experience with Shleppers, our most recent move was a complete disaster, as if it were a totally different company. They somehow managed to lose a box containing most of my wardrobe. How do you lose a large box moving 15 miles? My guess is they left it in the truck and covered it with refuse, then never bothered to let us know. So irresponsible. They broke another item that we were going to put in my car, but they insisted they would carefully wrap and put on the truck. It was never wrapped and arrived completely destroyed. So careless.  One worker in particular, kept removing his mask despite contstant demands that he stop using it as a chin diaper.  Very dangerous and disrespectful, and a clear violation of the company's claimed covid safety rules. And yes, I repeatedly asked the supervisor to speak with him about this. Then, one worker came back to my house after they finished to try to drag me into a dispute over the supervisor's allocation of the tip (which was very generous despite my issues, since I had not yet realized a box was missing). All in all, they are incompetent, irresponsible, and do not care about maintaining health and safety protocols.

I reported all these issues (except the missing box) immediately and received a largely indifferent response. Then when I reported the missing box, I was initially ignored, then received another indifferent response and "promise to look for it". Two weeks later, zero follow up from the company.  Do not use them!

Horrible company

Horrible company. In short, they moved our furniture on 10/1/20. After they moved our stuff from our apartment into the truck, they arrived at our building 2 hours late, which was strange because it was only two blocks away. After the move was "done" they had us sign paperwork that the move was completed, and we tipped them (very well). However, thirty minutes after the movers left, we realized that they had completely ripped the leg of an expensive dressed and tried to put it back with Crazy Glue! We immediately brought it up with the company who said it was "part of the moving risk" and that since we had decided to take minimal insurance, we were only allowed $95 in damages, which is less than 10% of what the piece is worth. I asked for my tip back given that they had tried to deceit us, but she said "just too bad". What’s extremely concerning is the movers not being upfront about their $1000 screwup so that they could get tipped. Moving companies HAVE insurance companies to cover for major neglect such as this one. No apologies for the dishonesty at all.
Fortunately, there are two journalists who will write the case on their show and on the paper. Terrible customer service, like they don’t care.

Additionally When we wrote our complaint, they replied very homophobic remarks.

Shleppers damaged the property where my…

Shleppers damaged the property where my furniture was stored and now refuses to pay for the damage or return my calls. I have moved many times and never received such shabby treatment. I would never do business with this company again.

Rude customer Service mall…

I called Sleooers in NYC for a small move. One bedroom to one bedroom. I was put on hold a few times waiting from a quote by the customer service Rep David. He seemed more interested in learning about how I found the Company. He gave me a quote of a 1200. I said I’m sorry that’s a little high. I’m not moving a bed or dresser. He hung up on me in mid sentence. Seriously, how are these people the best moving company if the customer Reps hang up on potential customers? David was rude and quite frankly that says a lot about thus company,

READ THE REVIEWS BELOW AND SERIOUSLY CONSIDER ANOTHER SHIPPING COMPANY.

IS THERE BIGGER FONT THAT YELP OFFERS?

IF YOU'VE READ THIS FAR THEN PERHAPS YOU ARE SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING SHLEPPERS. IF THAT'S THE CASE FACTOR IN ANOTHER 20% COST OF WHAT THEY ESTIMATE BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO REPLACE THE THINGS THAT WERE DAMAGED OR DELAYED.

Right now I am trying to collect compensation for items that were damaged or delayed. Their first offer barely covered the cost of the blow-up mattress that we had to purchase since our bed and other items were delayed. They would not cover that cost, not sure what they expect you or your baby to sleep on, the ground I suppose? Would they have preferred a bill to my chiropractor?

Their second offer was in fact above and beyond what was in my contract but it was barely enough to cover the cost of the crib that was damaged. After pushing them to counter their claim offer..THEY REDUCED THE COMPENSATION FOR THE CLAIM.

I also believe they asked my partner to amend my Yelp review...hmmmm, really? Seriously, who does that? I feel like Andy Dufresne, I will keep writing letters.

I'm sure in a few days I will get response that they deeply apologize for any inconvenience but calling them directly will yield in several voicemails and eventually you'll reach someone that is not being reasonable about your claim...what a shame.

OH LASTLY, don't ship anything that has any electronics in it as they cannot verify the mechanical or electrical inner-workings and condition of ANYTHING. So the guitar amplifier they broke won't be given a single penny. I was told that was industry standard but I can't seem to find that anywhere. Please send me, would like to see that.

I have used Shleppers several times…

I have used Shleppers several times now, and have had a very positive experience each time. The movers are professional, on-time and efficient/quick. I can't recommend them highly enough!

They robbed me big time

They robbed me big time. This company stole my collectors edition Yamaha saxophone, worth over $2000, my 36 channel behringer sound mixer, destroyed and stole many more of my filmmaking equipment and offered me $83 compensation calming that they only pay 50cent per pond on claims.
It took them 3 months to deliver my properties from Los Angeles California to Atlanta Georgia.
Jesse the guy that handled my properties told me on the phone that he couldn’t find a driver coming to Georgia for over two months. And every time I call him to speak to him, he will tell me that he’s on the other line talking and will call me back but he never did.
By the time my property was delivered, all my valuable goods were gone.

Don't ever give your worthy belongings to this company they are established to rob people of there worthy belonging. They are a gang of thiefs. Jesse, Josh, Monica, Nicole and others are a team of robbers. If you ever talk to any of them, just note that you are talking to a potential thief that will rob you clean of your possession. I will be doing a youtube video on how this company robbed me for every one to see so that they can stay away from this company.

WARNING! Never have I ever been so ripped off and scammed!!!

I will start with I WISH I LOOKED AT THE REVIEWS ONLINE!!! Warning… I GOT SCAMMED!

I was advised by my sister, to try using a moving company my brother-in-law worked for; Shleppers Moving and Storage. I agreed to use them, and two weeks in advance, set a date of November 28th, 2016, when their rep came by my house and quoted me $400 for the move. I told him that was low, seeing it was always around $1000 to move my things, when I did it myself. I was excited to not only save money, but not have to move the items. He reassured me everything was fine and the quote was solid. He agreed on the 28th, and told me they would get me a time. I called to get that time, but never got a response back (trusting this was family and everything was going to follow through). I finally received a call, morning of the 28th, that they were out front! Regardless, I was eager to move, and went ahead with buzzing them up.

In walked three movers, none of which were my brother in-law. It turns out he was called onto another move. I let these three strangers into my home, which was one of the WORST mistake I have ever made. During the corse of my move they took twice the time they said. I had friends tell me they saw them by their truck, not doing anything. They finally got my things down to the truck, and we went to my new home.

There, I found that my stereo had been broken. That was after they smashed a lamp into the ground. It was not until later that I found the goose down, feather, couch that I got from Restoration Hardware was damaged, and one of my finer rings had been stolen! I was too busy dealing after the move, with the fact they asked me for $1000 for their service, and that’s outside of the materials they tried to charge me for; boxes they took back, tape they used, and plastic I had provided, but they used their own. Yup, $1000 for a job that I was quoted $400. I told them I would give them $700. They got their boss Jesse Heeber on the phone, and after a lot of arguing, he agreed to $700. I paid in cash, and they left. I received no quote, no paperwork, and no Bill of Landing.

I called Shleppers Moving and Storage, here in LA, and spoke with Jesse. Over the course of a month, he reassured me he was going to handle this. He kept telling me to call him back, and then would not answer. Then, he stopped answering my calls and texts. I tried calling the office in New York. They got me on the phone with Rob. He told me he was going to handle the situation. I never heard back from him.

Now, after looking over the internet, I have found that this is common practice for this company. I have found rampant complaints of over charging, surging, stealing, and more. It’s terrifying!!! Who knows what else they took I have not discovered yet. Worst is, I didn't look at reviews myself! I hired them. Now I see why reviews matter.

Now, I am trying to file a claim with my own insurance, but they need a Bill of Landing. They need paperwork. Something this company knew I would need. I am out of options, and left screwed over like everyone in all the reviews I’ve read since this happened. Including an interesting one, by a former employee, who states that this kind of stuff is encouraged! How does a scam and set-up, like this thieving company, keep getting away with this?

STAY AWAY

I have been on this earth 71 years and my experience with them was the worst of my life. We moved from Brooklyn, New York to Tampa, Florida. The pick up was great and then the nightmare started. Our stuff was put in storage for a few weeks and luckily we had a place to stay in Florida until it arrived. The first lie was that they deliver with their own truck with some of the guys who picked up our stuff. Not the case, our stuff finally came with a private trucker and 2 helpers that he picked up on the way here.We had 2 large pieces that had to be dis-assembled and put back together. The salesman told us that one of the guys who took it apart would be delivering with a furniture specialist down here. Never happened. These 3 guys took 3 hours to put it back together with the bar unit of the set completly broken. The 2 helpers were constantly fighting with each other and just threw most of our boxes on top of each other in the garage. We have a Swarovski crystal collection with a lot of the pieces broken in the move. A living room coffee table had a leg broken in half and a large gouge in the top. There were other damaged pieces too numerous to mention. Even though we had only taken out the minimum insurance coverage it was an awful experience even if we had full coverage. The move was stressful enough without this catastrophe. As the title says STAY AWAY!!!!

Unacceptable experience

I have gave full pack service contract to move my stuffs, but shleppers guys are the worst guys I have ever since in this business even they claim to be very professional. There is no professionalism in their packing & delivering. first they won't come up with sufficient packing materials, second they don't care about your valuable stuffs, while packing they will just dump your stuffs without doing proper packing into boxes. Whatever Sales guys commits, their delivery or picking guys never fulfill that commitment. Even though you gave them full pack service, picking guys will deny to pack your bathroom and kitchen stuff and you will end up doing it on your own for them.
Also on delivery, they will missed your stuffs and this is happened with me. and now they are asking me to claim it with 60cent per pound for those missing items which are more valuable than their claim amount which they will refund me.
I won't recommend these guys to anyone nor I will take their service again.
I am very dissatisfied with their job and had worst experience with them.

I was impressed

They showed up on time. There was an appropriate number of people (3). They were polite, had all the paperwork in order. Moved efficiently. I was moving stuff out of storage, and into a Manhattan location. We arrived at approximately the same time. They price was great. I tipped generously.

Schlepping out

I went with shleppers because I am a Montefiore employee and they do all our moves. Got a small referral discount. They were almost an hour early and provided a fee extra boxes and packing assistance free of charge. They brought a large crew of four and we finished well ahead of schedule. No damage to anything packed or the house we moved into. A+

Had some issues

I loved the fact that they came to pack the day before the move.
Some things broke during the move though I told the movers that those are fragile . They still take the proper measures.
They were a Group of 3 movers but only 1 spoke & understood English which was very frustrating since I asked for unpacking and it was useless.

Another very successful move with Shleppers!

This is at least the 4th time I've moved with Shleppers (for both home and office moves), and once again, they were absolutely stellar. On time, efficient, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional.

I've recommended Shleppers to many friends, and they have all been very happy with the results. I will continue to refer everyone I know to Shleppers for their outstanding level of service.

Would Highly Reccomend

I don't know if I lucked out or if Schleppers is really just this amazing for all their customers. I had a trifecta team- Marvin, Kevin, and Carlos: all three incredible, equally diligent, and time efficient. They worked hard and were an absolute pleasure throughout, all the while being the utmost professional. I would highly reccomend.
