Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 11,364 reviews, reviewers overwhelmingly had a great experience with this company. Customers consistently found the process of selling books to be super easy and efficient, from scanning barcodes to sending them off. Many appreciated the convenience of prepaid shipping labels and home collection, saving them from lugging heavy parcels. Reviewers also highlighted the prompt payment into their bank accounts or via PayPal, with clear communication throughout the process. However, some customers also noted that the prices offered for books could be minimal, sometimes as low as 10p, and felt they might earn more by selling books themselves. A few other people also felt that not all books were accepted, or that some valuable books were deemed to have issues like 'mould' without payment or return. Some reviewers were not happy with payment issues, mentioning that payment took too long or that promised amounts were reduced.

Before you start, be aware that not all books will be accepted for sale - but a useful feature is that they are stored on a 'shelf' and may pop up from time to time so you can add them to your basket... See more

It’s nice to have an option to sell directly to a business in bulk, rather than the slower process of C2C. Shipping the books was very easy and they handled the transaction in a timely manner. I wish... See more

Not very generous in payment

Not very generous in payment, but was upfront in what they were prepared to pay. I would have been happier if they had increased payment when they saw what good condition they were.

Complete scam

Complete scam. I scanned the books and placed them straight away into a box. World of books claims there were loads missing (including the most valuable) out of what I sent which is impossible. Have used other book selling sites and not had this issue. My advice would be to use an alternative service.

Great service!

I've had a great experience with World of Books. I think it's a brilliant idea to resell books instead of letting them sit on a shelf or throwing them away. I no longer have to worry about what to do with books once I don't need them anymore.

The whole process is incredibly easy. Scanning the books is simple, sending them off is straightforward, and the processing is very quick. Payment arrived promptly too, which was a lovely bonus. Overall, it's a fast, hassle-free service that I'd happily recommend to anyone looking to give their books a second life.

Easy to use

Easy to use, but a little surprised that one of the books was 'missing' when it was time for payment. I checked, double-checked and then got my teenager to check again when we packed and sealed the box!

Outright lie about discs being damaged and refuse to explain themselves

One of my DVDs has been rejected for "Disc Damaged" which is an outright fabrication as this DVD was still wrapped in its original cellophane packaging and had never even been unwrapped or opened. I cannot fathom how this checker has even reached this conclusion for a brand new, wrapped item. Did they just outright lie? Or did they have to physically open up (and therefore surely reduce the value) of the item and somehow conclude the disc was damaged even though they were the first human hands to even touch it?? This makes me question the integrity of this process as I'm able to know for a FACT that this disc was in pristine condition, so how many other discs do you falsely claim are damaged?! I've been surprised in the past at certain DVDs and CDs being rejected for supposedly being damaged, but this situation confirms to me for certain that WOB will just lie about discs being damaged to short-change people's trades. I had no luck getting the customer service agent to engage on this issue as they kept directing me to Ts & Cs, copy pasting generic answers, and telling me they couldn't advise me any further. I've sent 7 trades to WOB over the last couple of months but won't use them anymore.
