Would give 0 stars if possible, switch went smoothly until it came to setting up online. Lots of different codes, take forever to arrive (2 weeks for 3 different letters). Two weeks later again and im... See more

If I could give no stars I would
If I could give no stars I would, this company is an absolute NIGHTMARE to deal with, their recorded message asks customers to give their staff 'respect and courtesy' yet they show none for their customers; I am sick and tired of phoning back, being cut off, being asked the same old same old and still not receiving the support I need. Once I get my issue which (should be) simple: change my address which I did in person with passport etc. in the Bath branch (3 yrs later I'm still trying to get my French address changed - yet oddly, they have no problem writing to me at the correct address), I'm removing my money and hope I NEVER need to speak to this company again.
Class Action Is Necessary
This bank should be Class Action sued. They stole money from me and paid the HOA at the onset of COVID. I'd been begging Santander for help- my HELOC was taken out for Common Area Special Assessments but the bank was indifferent to the lack of repairs which continued to destroy my unit. When I asked them to at least populate my account so that I could take the HOA to court, of 10 reps approached only 1 could figure out how to provide the financials I needed. Then COVID hit, I lost my court date, the bank paid the HOA for falsely reported charges--without performing a shred of Due Diligence. The Bank opened a second loan account for me and charged 18% Interest for the Load I never approved created to reimburse the bank money I never owed. The HOA took the money and began a repair program for Their Chosen unit owners. My condo is, literally, still under water.
Their website and app boarder upon "useless". I hate them.
Santander is illegally holding onto my Dad's account
My Father passed away in March after a long illness. I was named as his personal representative in his will. After submitting two sets of paperwork from the probate court in August, they still will not release my Father's account. No word, no update, nothing despite my continued attempts to reach out either in person at the branch, email or calls. My attorney even reached out - crickets. Its astounding that their own people do not seem to know what to do or refuse to provide a way to escalate an issue to a supervisor to help resolve a consumer issue. There is a complete lack of empathy with this Bank that appears to be pervasive. Good luck trying to resolve ANY issue. I look forward to being able to close this account and move the funds elsewhere. I have reported them to the CFPB and the OCC. Let's see if that helps move things along.
Don't use Santander
The first cheque I paid in was made out using my second forename. I have never used my first forename and did not think it would be a problem as all other banks have always accepted this. Santander assured me that it would NOT be accepted. I therefore asked for another cheque made out as Santander wished. BOTH cheques went through which was an awful embarrassment for me. Apart from that, their online statements never seem to be the same as my carefully kept accounts. It's impossible to get someone to talk with, the waiting time being a least 10 minutes. I am not going to bother discussing the difference in their statements to my accounts - it's simply not worth the effort.
Sandtander equivalent of a loan shark
Thought I'd completely paid off my credit card. Turned out there was £17 still due. Within a month they'd increased that amount due to £45 equivalent of a loan shark.
no real service at all
dreadful amount of time waiting for them to answer my call. Their banking details cant be verified by my bank to pay a bill so i need to call them . Been hanging on for more than 25 minutes
Santander ATM Took My Money – No Help, No Resolution
I had a terrible experience with Santander after an ATM error at their Ealing Bond Street branch. I deposited £480, but the ATM froze with a hardware error and the money was never credited to my account.
I reported it immediately and was told it would be checked the next day. Since then, I have been given the runaround for weeks – calling customer service, visiting the branch multiple times, and raising both a dispute and a complaint. Every time, I am told “no extra money was found in the ATM,” which is not true.
I trusted Santander to investigate properly, but they have failed to do so. No clear answers, no CCTV checks, no accountability. This has caused me real financial hardship and stress.
If a bank cannot safeguard customer deposits or investigate serious errors fairly, how can customers feel safe keeping their money there?
Good Riddance…
I have now left this bank after many years.I felt like I was a victim of the Spanish Inquisition-unhelpful intrusive staff who bang on about fraud all the time and make it very difficult to withdraw cash- and if you are a victim of fraud when using their credit card -tough!Credit cards should offer some protection but not this one!
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Robbed us for $1,000 & said we didn’t pay. Even though our bank statement says otherwise.
Santander car loan
I had some financial difficulty and didn't know how I was going to survive the month. They were WONDERFUL! Quick to answer, talked to a human with stellar customer service, and they deferred 2 payments within 5 minutes...just don't wait until the last minute. Make sure to give them enough time (I think 5 days prior to your withdrawal date)
Do not trust this bank
Been Santandercudtomer for many years. Used crefit card to pay for holiday (protection) was defrauded for 1500.00 and bank refuse to reimburse although said they would several times have fought for a year and nothing.
Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service. Useless unless you go to one of their branches in person.
credit card debacle
Recently took out a credit card. Card took 15 days to arrive, unable to login to internet banking as details sent to me didn’t work, so I can’t activate the card. 2 phone calls to try & sort, each took exactly 42 minutes to answer, and advisor on second call hung up on me as I asked him to give me a minute as someone at work needed my attention. I’d NEVER bank with this company, Lloyds are way more helpful and efficient!!!
Appalling
Appalling. Price gouging institution. Charge £ 30 plus a huge margin on an overseas bank transfer. Then £ 40 per month just for the privilege of using their ‘ crap investment platform’ . And now charge £40 per month to have your money deposited with them. All whilst paying you 0% interest. Stay away. I hope it goes under . Fast. Im extracting my funds asap
Shocking
Shocking, completely unhelpful, have cost me a fortune with their ineptitude 36 years a customer up this morning
Absolutely useless customer service
Absolutely useless customer service, AI bot spam and not real people for the most part
run from them don't do any business…
run from them don't do any business with them ever im telling u ever
They froze all my accounts without…
They froze all my accounts without contacting me and, when I rang the number to sort it out, no one could tell me why because "no note's been left"?
It left me without access to money for days, because they froze them on a Friday night and no one could 'help' until the Monday morning.
They promised to ring by 4.30 p.m. but never did. I rang them and they promised again, but never rang again. If they didn't ring, the guy said, he'd make sure he personally rang me. He never did … Can you spot the recurring theme … ?
Appalling 'service' from an uncaring bank that seems to have lying to its customers at the centre of its business practice.
Update: Five days later and still no contact from Santander and no access to my personal, business or savings accounts.
Update 2: The accounts were unfrozen after five days without access. Eventually, there was a phone call, explaining that it all happened because I'd moved money from the current account to a savings account … Yes, that really does count as 'suspicious activity' at Santander …
Please, save yourself the hassle and bank with someone else.
Avoid this awful, pathetic excuse for a bank!
June 2025 without warning Santander froze my account. Got through to customer service who communicated with their internal security team to confirm my account is totally frozen and refused to tell me why. Called in person at my local branch to find out more info, same routine, got to speak with their internal security, and still frozen and refuse to tell me why. After 42+ years with Santander and over 6 figure sum banked with them. They could have at least arranged an in person meeting, but not so. Cold, impersonal, not helpful, non-caring, and left me with no banking. When I commented my wage would need to be paid in at the end of the month, their response was 'go find another bank then'! Charming. They then closed my account without explanation! They sent 6 figure cheque in the standard land mail post, not even recorded mail. My advice would be not to touch this pathetic bank with a penny of your money. I am now with HSBC and could not be happier.
Customer service shocking
Customer service shocking. Froze payments on account without warning then expected to give them my life history to release my own money. Unhappy customer and from these other reviews it looks like I'm not alone :-(
