SAAHIP has been an amazing platform for learning from best practices, information sharing, networking and engaging. I have been a PSSA member since my 3rd year of my undergraduate studies. Once qualifying I ensured that my sector of choice wad SAAHIP. Initially I was not very involved in the branch activities, but once changing provinces I became very involved in the structures and activities. This has also led to endless amounts of opportunities and ideas, enhancing my daily practise as a pharmacist. SAAHIP has provided me with a community of like minded individuals who are passionate about pharmacy and pharmacists voices being heard.

SAAHIP has provided a platform to collaborate with other institutional and hospital sector colleagues, share knowledge, and engage in meaningful discussions that strengthen patient care and professional practice. I valued the opportunities to learn from peers, contribute to initiatives that improved our practice, and feel part of a supportive community committed to excellence. The society fostered both personal growth and professional development, making it enriching and rewarding.

SAAHIP has been a space where I’ve found some of the most passionate and talented pharmacists, professionals who are not only deeply knowledgeable but also incredibly helpful and generous with their support. Being exposed to pharmacists within this association has truly expanded my horizons and broadened my perspective on what a career in pharmacy can be. I am inspired every day by the dedication, innovation, and collaborative spirit of this community.

Being part of SAAHIP has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my professional journey as a pharmacist. It’s not just an association, it’s a community where you feel heard, supported, and inspired. Through the networking platforms, symposiums, and workshops, I’ve connected with colleagues who share the same challenges and aspirations, and together we’ve found solutions that truly make a difference in our daily practice.

SAAHIP constantly reminds me that I’m not working in isolation. It gives me a bigger vision of the role hospital and institutional pharmacists play in shaping healthcare in South Africa. From policy advocacy to professional development, the impact is tangible. I’ve grown in leadership, gained confidence, and found opportunities I would never have had if I wasn’t a member.

Most importantly, I’ve experienced the heart of what SAAHIP stands for: uplifting pharmacists so that we, in turn, can uplift the patients and communities we serve
