Very disappointing experience
Very disappointing experience. I got a flat tire and had to pay €55 for roadside tire service because the car had neither a spare wheel nor a jack. Despite having full insurance coverage, I was never reimbursed for this expense. Full insurance should mean full coverage. I cannot recommend this company.

Be aware that initial search results show off-peak prices and exclude insurance, meaning the final cost is typically 2 to 4 times higher than expected. You cannot review the contract in advance, and its terms exclusively protect the rent agency. The fleet consists of older vehicles with overpriced insurance that often excludes common damage like wheel rim or bumper scratches. Furthermore, agents are notoriously strict and ignore Fair Wear and Tear or BVRLA guidelines, making it nearly impossible to recover your €100–300 deposit. Finding a genuine local owner with a personal car offer would be a true success; they are far more likely to be honest and ensure your trip isn't ruined.

Rent From Locals operates as a marketplace and booking platform connecting customers with local vehicle providers. However, we do not simply act as a passive broker. We actively mediate customer complaints and disputes and work with both parties to reach a fair and satisfactory resolution whenever issues arise.
Our pricing is transparent. Search results always display the price for the exact dates selected by the customer and include the mandatory Third Party Liability insurance required for the rental. Optional protection packages are clearly displayed separately during the booking process, allowing customers to decide whether they wish to add them.
We maintain a strict no hidden fees policy. The price shown during booking is the price agreed upon, subject only to any optional extras selected by the customer and clearly disclosed before confirmation.
Customers can review the rental conditions before booking. A dedicated "Provider Specific Terms" section is available during checkout, allowing renters to review the applicable rental terms before confirming their reservation.
Regarding vehicle condition, our platform includes both newer and older vehicles from different providers. Regardless of age, all vehicles must have valid documentation and pass the legally required technical inspections.
In your particular case, the dispute arose because damage occurred during the rental period and responsibility for that damage was disputed. Our platform includes a photo documentation system specifically designed to create transparency regarding vehicle condition before and after the rental. The Most Reliable Car Rental in Albania
The best car rental experience I have ever had.
I selected the car through the app, and when we landed, the owner was already waiting for us nearby. He handed over the keys, explained everything about the vehicle, and together we photographed the car and completed the paperwork.
The next day, the door locking system stopped working. Within hours, they delivered a replacement vehicle to us. Two days later, after the issue had been fixed, they brought back our original rental car. The whole process was smooth, professional, and completely stress-free.
Incredibly reliable service, excellent communication, and genuine care for customers. I highly recommend Rent From Locals to anyone travelling independently in Albania. A truly outstanding experience!
